Song of the Chapter: Fall Out Boy - My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light 'Em Up)

YOU NEED TO  LISTEN TO THIS SONG LIKE YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THE LYRICS FIT THIS STORY LIKE IT WAS MEANT TO BE.

THERE's GONNA BE A HUGE MONOLOGUE FROM SHADOW AND I'LL PUT A SQUIGGLY (~)BEFORE AND AFTER SO YOU KNOW WHEN HE STARTS AND STOPS TALKING Okay?

~

KATYA POV

"You." I breathed out, surprising myself with the ability to speak in front of this...monster.

"Shadow, actually." the kidnapper grinned, digging his knee deeper into my throat.

Katya, the blood...

I noticed Stark's affinity come to life, strings of his own blood coiling around my joints as Shadow lifted himself off of me. A thin strip of  blood curled around my neck, a bit too snug for comfort.

Shadow's eyes overtook the gold, showing the red irises that belonged solely to him.

My wolf made the rare move of snarling, and said snarl bubbled past my lips. Shadow made the hairs on my skin raise, releasing a cold, dreadful feeling upon me.

While I was immobilized by Stark's affinity on the floor, Shadow took a sweep of the battle around us. Despite Alric's best efforts, it seemed like we were losing.

But I still had hope. Alric's sacrifice would not be in vain.

Is there anyone way you to get a hold of them? They're losing hope. They need you to inspire them, Artemis.

I'm not sure what you expect me to do. I can't communicate with them while I'm in your body, and I refuse to leave you in this state. You are my responsibility.

I'll be fine. I'm only with a psychopathic kidnapper, your ex-lover, and my hybrid mate who has no control of his blood affinity. Plus I've got Kathleen for protection.

The awkward silence in my head and the snort from my wolf told me that Artemis was not buying it.

"Looks like you're on the losing side." Shadow raised a brow, as if amused at the lives being lost.

See? Losing. Even the enemy knows it. Now go!

I will strive to do the best of my abilities.

I let out a soft sigh that Artemis seemed to exit with. Without her, I had fully control of my body.

To prolong my obvious death, I decided to play 20 questions.

"You kidnapped me from the Anosovas. Why?"

He wagged a finger in front of my face. "Ah, ah, ah, that's not how this is going to go. If you want to know, ask politely."

My canines ached to be buried deep in his throat as his blood gushed forth.

"Tell me why you fucking stole me you cowardly son of a bitch or so help me I will bathe in your blood when I'm finished with you."

He laughed heartily. "How cute. Your threats have real  motive behind them... but if only you could execute them properly."

So far, I did not like this Shadow guy. Not only did he blabber on, but he seemed to think he was a know it all. It really rubbed me the wrong way.

Stark's affinity for blood tightened around my throat as I struggled to suck in air.

"Erebus planned this, you know? All of it. This elaborate plan that took years upon years to create. He started it."

"Why?" I gasped out, my lungs punishing me for trying to speak.

"He wanted revenge. The Moon Goddess payed more attention to her precious Lycans, valued them more than she valued him. So he did what any scorned lover would do- get rid of the competition. Of course, she had to get all over dramatic and act like those were the only Lycans she could make. (talk about taking advantage of Orion and Stark's situation to start the mate killings because she wasn't paying attention to him and had left him. So Erebus wanted to teach the Lycans how he felt when his significant other left"

"What about m-me?" I was seeing black spots and I knew I couldn't hold out longer. I had to find this guy's weakness- and fast.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Things had settled down for a while, Erebus and The Moon Goddess got into one of the biggest fights that's ever been seen. To retaliate, Artemis personally slaughtered most of the male vampires in each coven she hunted down. She had her wolves tear them apart. Erebus couldn't do anything but sit back and watch his kind suffer for her selfish desires.
But then he saw the perfect opportunity- you. You were the youngest of the royal families at the time. And with a little bribery from a certain god of love, he found out who your mate was, which was really a perfect coincidence considering that he was a victim of the mate killings. And when Orion and Erebus found out that Kathleen wasn't the mate- well it was a perfect time to exact his revenge once more.
Of course, first we had to separate you from the Royals, you'd be too safe with them. We had Mikhail watch over you, poor child didn't know he was a pawn until too late. Thank goodness for arranged marriages otherwise it would be really difficult to have you under our thumb without Mikhail, thought it wasn't just arranged marriages... a little help from Cupid never hurt anyone, and it wouldn't contradict with the Moon Goddess' mate set up because Royals don't have mates.
Except you- you're special. I mean, think about it. You being home schooled was so no one would ever recognize you. Your whole pack- it was all just part of the plan. Maryse and Oliver, the Michaelis parents being murdered by the rogues under my influence, was all part of the plan. Like I said, you would have never met Stark if we didn't speed it up a couple hundred years. This whole plan would've fallen apart if you didn't have a mate.
But, what we didn't expect was her. For Artemis to join the fight. She's usually a coward, stays back while her people are slaughtered. We didn't count on her to team up with Lycans. It's...disgusting. The way she acts heroic after what she did to Erebus. The Moon Goddess-she-she ruined him."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

He faltered for a moment on his words, and his brief moment of distraction had loosened the grip of the coiling blood.

I recognized the flicker in his eyes when he said that sentence, it was the same type of jealously and longing that Kaleesi had when she looked upon Stark.

"You love him." I breathed out. "You love Erebus."

The blood snapped back from me like I was its sweetest poison.

The mantle of control was fought violently within Stark- the entities fighting inside his body. He shriveled back, clawing at his head and throat. Stark's eyes were flickering between red, gold, and silver.

"So he didn't know?" I stated harshly. "He didn't know that you loved him? And what about your mate?"

"Stop!" he groaned out painfully, clutching Stark's golden blond hair tightly as he leaned over the railing.

A cool sensation shifted through me and I realized that Artemis was back.

The vampires are all dead- there's no sight of Orion so he must be in there with them. I spoke with Kendra and Kristos, here is the plan; Poseidon is still in the waters, and it's deadly for any being to step in there. Now is our chance, we can get rid of all of them.

But...Stark. He won't be able to survive this. The wrath of a god? That's something not even he can withstand.

My wolf whimpered at the sound of Stark being torn apart.

Before I could argue more on that part, I felt a hand on my shoulder.

I turned around to see my mother.

"I can't fight this battle for you, but I'll let you in on a secret, Katya. Your powers, unlike everything else, aren't decided by the Moon Goddess. They're decided by you- by what defines you and your past and your present. Your powers are a production of your history, meant to shape your future. Pick your power, Katya."

I swallowed, reflecting on what she said as she left the bridge with my brothers in tow. I tried to think of an underlying theme in all of this- the one thing that I could make my power that would end all of this there and then.

And then I realized it.

A sudden calmness flooded through me, and I could feel the power coursing through my veins like it was my birthright. Every fiber of my being was coming to life. I felt pure, like my namesake. I felt true. I felt in control for one damn second in my life.

And I refused to let them take that away from me.

I think it's time...

To bring the shadows...

"Into the light!"

Rearing my fist back, I threw myself into the punch that landed straight into Stark's chest. But instead of him flying back from my hit, the three entities possessing him flew out.

Artemis detached herself from me, materializing into her own being. She immediately lunged for Erebus, flipping the god over her shoulder and the railing of the bridge. A silver crescent moon bow appeared in her hands, and while Erebus was still in mid air, she fired an arrow through his chest. Like an anchor, it dragged him down beneath the surface where Poseidon tore him apart.

I grinned, turning to Shadow, a lame middle aged werewolf who wasn't worth my time.

"Just so you know," I prepped myself to tackle the son of a bitch, "I was a fighter before I was Luna."

I slammed my shoulder into Shadow, who wriggled on the railing before I kicked him in the gut Sparta-style to join Erebus in the riptide below the bridge.

Oh I'm going to love this,

I figured she would, because now it was Stark and I against Orion, the fucker that started it all.

"Payback's a bitch, Onion."

I nailed Orion in the throat, close to snapping his neck over the railing as Stark's blood affinity ripped out his entrails, flinging them into the churning river.

And for once, I took pride in the gleeful look Stark had in his face as he tore apart the vampire that scarred him.

"This is for Rose- for my pack- for Mikhail. For every life you ruined in your petty attempts to destroy Stark and I." I shoved my hand down his throat, removing his spine Stark-style.

Kathleen briefly took over me, and I was happy to give her full control.

"And this?" She extended my claws and dug into the red slushie of his torso, grabbing onto his stomach. "This is for my baby."

In a clean swiped, she ripped out the stomach and shoved him back into the churning river.

I felt her depart me, like a gentle breeze. I was now by myself, with everything clear.

Dawn was breaking across the horizon, the light cascading on the battle field and on Stark and I.

Stark reeled back his blood affinity and stepped forward, but I took a few steps back.

"How do I know that it's you? Completely you? No curses, no possession, no memory wiped?"

A grin split his face, the widest that I've ever seen.

"It's me, mea lux, only me."

Mea lux. Ever since his kidnapping, he'd only call me my light- he was back, this time for real. Stifling a sob, I buried myself into his bloody chest as he arms wrapped securely around my waist. I cried for all that we've lost- Iris, Alric, Rosemarie, Ryland, Ryker, Mikhail, Maryse and Oliver and everyone else who had to die just so this stupid feud would be done.

And it was.

It was over.
