New Princess of Asgard

Luma was terrified as she followed Frigga down the large palace hallways. She was gripping the queens hand tighter and tighter with every step. Her bare feet felt the smooth marble of the floor as she struggled to keep pace with the queen.

Thor was behind his mother, curious as to what she and his father had agreed on. She was only a child, what would he do?

As they approached the throne room doors that began to open, allowing them to enter with ease. Light flooded Luma's vision, causing her to hide behind Frigga whilst still clutching her hand.

The young elf glanced over to the throne, where she saw the king sat upon his throne, talking to a man in chains, who was standing on the stairs of the throne.

Thor knew who he was immediately. "Loki." He muttered.

Luma stared at the man in chains. There was something about him... He seemed hostile. But he looked completely calm. She could sense there was something about him she didn't like, yet she was curious.

Loki turned slowly when he heard the throne room doors open, his chains weighing him down. Odin had been discussing the newest child with him. Not that he cared. When he placed eyes on the child he was surprised to say the least. "I believe ice elves are meant to be blue."

Even his voice sounded hostile and cold to Luma. Like she'd heard it before. She felt tears fill her eyes at the mention of her lack of blue pigment. She still didn't know why she now looked the way she did and she was terrified.

Only a few moments later she was stood before the king, still attached to the queens hand. She peered up at him, her tearful blue eyes begging for answers.

Odin looked at the small elf and began to speak....

"Everyone you know is dead." He began. "You are the only remaining ice elf in the nine realms."

"Father!" Thor interjected, his loud booming frightening Luma causing her magic to surge once again. With a white flash she had vanished from behind Frigga. And reappeared behind Loki.

The words Odin had just spoken flashed through her mind, further fuelling her fear induced magic outburst.

'The only remaining ice elf in the nine realms.'

Loki only realised Luma was behind him when he noticed his chains become covered in a thin layer of frost. Along with the floor.

"She's frozen the floor." He stated bluntly, stepping aside from her so Frigga could see her again.

Thor urged his father to be less blunt with the child. After all the information she was being told was not something a young elf would ever want to hear.

The mischievous God looked at the small elven child and sighed. Nudging her lightly. "Go. Back to the queen. Now."

Luma looked up at him. Staring at him curiously. For a moment it seems as if all her fear melted away and all she could do was stare at him. He wasn't so scary up close, but she could tell he wasn't kind.

Bored of her antics he rolled his eyes and nudged her again. "Move." He demanded, happy when she finally did as she was told. Her bare feet pattered against the cold steps down from the throne.

Once she had latched herself back onto Frigga's arm, Odin continued. "With your home and kingdom in ruins, soaked in your subjects blood, you cannot return."

Luma felt large tears fall from her eyes, rolling down her cheeks. The king noticed but carried on, ignoring his eldest sons plea for him to be kinder as he spoke. "And due to your sisters unfortunate death, you are now-"

"Decima... she's dead..?" Only frigga heard the child's whisper as Odin spoke.

"- the only one left of your kind. The Frost Gaints have abandoned their slaughter and returned to Jotunheim. But there is no doubt they will be back."

Luma, through her tears, noticed Loki visibly stiffen at the mention of the Frost Giants. She wondered, for a moment, if the scary man was afraid of them.

"Frigga and I-" The young elf's attention was brought back to Odin. "Have decided that Asgard is the safest place for you now. Our soldiers can protect you, my son can protect you. This is your home now."

Thor smiled at his father, he had been so worried that he would have gone through with his original plan of killing the child to 'save the realms'.

Frigga knelt down next to the shaking child, softly stroking her newly white hair, noticing it was still damp with blood from her injury. "You'll be safe here my child, we will be your family. We will protect you."

Luma looked up at frigga with tear stained cheeks. "My sister, is gone? My father is dead? My brothers?"

For a moment the queen did not know how to answer. The poor soul in front of her did not understand what horrible fate her kingdom had met. The fate her family had met.

"All dead." The cold voice spoke again. "Laid to waste by those disgusting Frost Giants." Loki was practically mocking her now, she could see an evil glint in his eye.

"Loki!" Thor growled, storming over to his brother and grabbing his collar. "Silence yourself! Can you not see she has suffered enough this day?"

The chained Prince only grinned. "And you think bringing her into this palace, with this family will do her any good. Look what happened to me. I'm sure you don't this child of prophesy to become like me."

"She won't!" Frigga spoke, the softness in her voice had gone. She looked only at Loki, and he glared back. "I won't let her fall down that path. I won't fail her, as I did you."

Luma watched as Loki's icy glare faded into a look she'd never seen before. Was it sadness? Grief? Betrayal? He seemed hurt. She didn't want to ponder on why he was upset, so she clung to Frigga once more.

"Luma, you shall no longer be a princess from Astrila. From this point on, you are Asgards Newest Princess." Odin rose from his throne. "When the time is right, we will throw a grand feast to introduce you to the kingdom. Until that time, you must rest."

Frigga smiled softly at her love. "I shall take her to her room and bath her, then she can rest until she's ready." Taking Luma's small hand, she lead the small elf out of the thrown room and back to the large sleeping quarters she had woken in. Although Luma was a princess, her kingdom wasn't half as grand as Asgard. The palace, the size, the technology, it was all so much better.

Once back in the room, Frigga went immediately to a large tub that was already full of warm, bubbly water. "Now Luma, you must bathe before you sleep." The queen frowned, she had almost forgotten that the child still wore the dress she had been found in. It was mucky, torn and had her sisters blood soaked onto it. "Come now, let me undress you."

Luma stepped forward, allowing her to remove the dress she had specially chosen for her brothers wedding. She remembered how excited she had been for the celebration. She loved her brother and Tesla so much. But now they were...

"It's acceptable to cry my dear." Frigga smiled, placing her hands on Luma's cheeks, seeing the tears that threatened to fall from her silver eyes. "What you've witnessed, what you've lost, how you're feeling. It's terrible. Its okay to cry."

Without another word, Luma began to sob. She hadn't realised how much she'd been holding in. She had been so overwhelmed from the minute she had woken up in a bed that wasn't her own. In a kingdom she didn't know. With the kind man, the queen, the king and the man in chains all being strangers she had no one to turn to. But now she was sobbing, in the arms of a women she didn't know. But felt she could trust.

She felt so scared. So alone. A single, small ice elf against the nine realms.

The only remaining ice elf, within the realms.

The queen held Luma close, allowed the frightened child to cry as much as she needed.

Right then, the swore a silent promise. She would protect this child to her dying breath. And not for the sake of the nine realms, but for the sake of the poor girl who had suffered so much.

"You are safe Luma. I promise you are safe with me." She tried to reassure the hysterical elf. Wrapping her arms securely around her. "I will love and protect you as if you were my own."

For a moment, Luma felt at peace. The kind words spoken to her were lot lies, she knew that. And after all....

Luma had always wanted a mother....
