This'll be a bit more serious than my other chapters of this, so I don't want to see any humor in the comments, either, because these are both really serious topics. (And yes, that includes "Bush did 9/11" and "Jet fuel can't melt steel beams", it's just not the time for this).

Also, this is what I've been taught on the events, but obviously I was not alive for them. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

On September 11, an event that changed America and continues to change America to this day occurred. Four planes in total were hijacked: two that were planned to hit the World Trade Center north and south towers, one that was planned to hit the Pentagon, and one that was planned to hit the White House. Three out of the four reached their goals: the one that was planned to hit the White House was taken over by the brave passengers and crashed into a field, saving countless lives but still ending countless others.

In the World Trade Centers, two planes hit, both around seventy or eighty floors up. This trapped the people above and absolutely charred the people on those floors due to the explosion of the jet fuel. The building was about 110 stories high, and many people on those upper floors or burning floors jumped, including the falling man in the picture. Firefighters came from everywhere nearby, working tirelessly to evacuate people and treat the injured. As it happened, two French brothers were doing a documentary on the New York Fire Department at this time, resulting in footage of 9/11 which is horrifying to watch, but really gives you a sense of the seriousness of the situation.

"When we walked into the building," one said, "a woman in the lobby was on fire, and people were trying to put her out. That's the screaming you hear on the film. I didn't film it because... nobody should have to see that."

Only two hours after the ordeal started, all of America was watching as one of the buildings came down, spreading dust everywhere and trapping and killing the people inside as the weight of the upper floors crashed through the bottom. A while later, the second one fell the same way. The streets and the people were covered in dust and debris. The firefighters worked to free people from the rubble, but mostly found bodies with no life.

Words don't and can't give the full effect of the situation, so there's a video of the second plane and of the buildings going down at the top. Though the same French brothers caught the first plane flying, they did not get footage of it hitting the towers.

After years, America did kill the man behind the attacks: Osama Bin Laden. But a lot of damage had been done already.

Firefighters had died from inhaling the dust. People on the streets were killed as other people crashed down upon them from the sky. Innocent Muslim Americans were killed in islamophobic attacks by people who believed a whole religion was the cause of a horrifying event. Which brings me to Eid.

Today, besides being the fifteenth anniversary of the fall of the towers, is also Eid Al-Adha. It's a sacred Muslim holiday, and a celebratory one, too. First, I want to say that any insistence that Muslims are celebrating 9/11 today is entirely false. Anyone who says this has no knowledge of Islam.

Second, Islam is a religion of peace. True followers of Islam would have never done this. Facets of the religion are these: do not hurt women or children, do not hurt those of other religions, and only hurt anyone if absolutely necessary. Do not hurt people without a reason and keep the hurt to only what is necessary. The people who did this were not followers of traditional Islam. They were people who warped Islam for their own needs.

If you see any Muslims being harassed, please step up to protect them. Call 911 if it's life-threatening.

Don't listen if the media tries to tell you Muslims are celebrating 9/11. Again, they're celebrating Eid. Correct people on this if you can.

Remember everyone who lost their lives due to the attacks.
