Lost
I sat on the couch in the living room, waiting for Lukas to come home from collecting some food. I wanted to go with him, but since it was sunset, he forced me to stay here. I've tried arguing with him but he just won't give up, and in the end, I gave up instead.
I kept checking the time on my phone, hoping he'll come back any minute now, but he didn't. Seconds passed by which soon turned into minutes, and then hours. At about 9:00pm, I just couldn't wait any longer. He's been gone for about 3 hours now, he should've been back ages ago. I stood up and stuffed my phone in the pocket of my lightwash denim shorts, heading to the front door. I put on some white converse hightops and grabbed a hoodie, Lukas's hoodie to be exact.
I stepped out of the warm, cosy house into the freezing cold night air. The wind howled in the sky, making trees sway from side to side. The full moon was shining down, being my only source of light as I wandered aimlessly through the woods. I shivered, not sure if it was because I was cold, or if I'm creeped out.
"Lukas!" I called out, walking and looking around faster. I ran through trees, desperately searching for him. What if he got exploded by a creeper? And he's laying on the ground bleeding right now?! What if he came home? And I'm not there. What if he came back out to look for me?! I should head back. No, I shouldn't, maybe he's still out here. Whatever happened, he needs me.
I tucked my hair behind my ear, only to get it blown out of place again by the wind. Taking out my phone, I turned on the flashlight on it, shining it through the trees. Shadows emerged and created all different shapes and sizes, but none of them were Lukas's.
"LUKAS!!" I yelled louder this time, running faster than I have ran in a long time. Trees branches and rocks scratched my legs, causing blood to flow out of the cuts, but I ignored the pain. After running for half an hour, I stopped. I put my hands on my knees and took a few deeps breaths, trying to gather my surroundings. I was in a place in the forest that I had never seen before. I must've wandered off further than I thought...
I sat down and leaned my back against a tree, some tears of frustration and worry starting to fall. I buried my face in my hands and just sat there. I couldn't find Lukas and now I'm stuck out here, in the middle of nowhere, at night time.
SNAP!
I spun my head around, my eyes scanning where the sound was made. Someone was there. Carefully, I stood up and walked towards the sound, but there was nothing there. There didn't seem to be any animals around here so it couldn't have been one of them. My eyes darted across the scene, scared that at any moment, something would jump out and scare me. But nothing happened. Just silence.
Taking a shaky breath, I turned back around, only to be met with a pair of murky green eyes. I yelped and as a reflex, my hand curled up into a fist and aimed straight towards the figure's face, only to be caught in it's hand.
"Woah Jesse, calm down..." I looked up and saw someone I never thought I'd see again.
"Aiden?..." He smiled at me innocently, as he slowly let go of my fist, letting it drop to my side.
"Uhh..hey..."
"What are you doing?" I crossed my arms, knowing this wasn't good. Aiden wasn't just gonna show up in the middle of the night, in this creepy forest and smile at me for no reason. He's got something planned.
"What do you mean, 'What am I doing?' I just came here and saw you!" Aiden answered, putting his hands up in defence. I sighed, shaking my head, not even bothered to argue.
"Look, I just want to find Lukas an get out of here.." I said walking off, leaving Aiden standing there, clueless of what had just happened.
"J-Jesse wait!" I stopped in my tracks, but didn't turn around. I heard Aiden's footsteps coming closer as he catches up to me.
"What do you mean 'find Lukas'?"
"It means 'find Lukas'...." I answered simply, not giving him any explanation, earning look of disapproval from Aiden. We stood there in silence for a while, looking into each other's eyes, until I gave in and spoke up again.
"Okay fine. Long story short, Lukas went out to get some food, it had been over 3 hours and he still wasn't back, so I went to search for him." I felt myself stutter on a few of those words, scared that Lukas might be badly hurt, while I'm talking to this jerk here. Aiden took a deep breath, looking like he was deep in thought.
"I'll help you."
"What?-"
"I said, I'll help you."
"I don't need your help."
"Jesse, I know I haven't been the best in the past, but Lukas was my best friend. If he's missing, I need to find him." I stood there in shock, not believing what I just heard. Aiden, the person who bullied my friends and I before, who set Rueben on fire, who wore leather jackets everyday, had a soft side. But I guess a little help wouldn't be bad, right?
"Fine, but let's h-hurry...Lukas m-might be h-hurt.." I felt some tears come back as I thought about what Lukas might be like right now. No matter how hard I tried, I always seemed to picture everything in the worst way ever. Aiden noticed that I was trying to hold back my tears, and he did something I never thought he would do.....he pulled me in for a hug. I stiffened, but soon relaxed as some tears started to fall. I cried quietly into his shoulder, staining his shirt with my tears as he rubbed my back for comfort. After what felt like forever, I pulled away. It didn't feel right...hugging Aiden...it felt like betraying Lukas. Even though, it was just a quick hug, I couldn't help but feel guilty. I wiped my eyes dry and started walking.
"Come on, let's go find Lukas."
Over 1000 words! I made this one longer than I usually would've made it to thank you guys for 1k views! Anyways, this oneshot was more Aidesse than Lukesse, but I'm thinking of making a part 2, if you guys are interested. Tbh, I kinda ship Aidesse as well....I ship Lukesse WAY MORE, but Aidesse is kinda cute, right? I'll still keep doing Lukesse oneshots so don't worry. I just felt like doing something a bit different for this chapter.
