Trickery

"Everyone loves Jesse, right?"

Everyone's eyes widened at seeing the Admin suddenly transform into the perfect replica of Jesse. Same black hair, same pale skin, same green eyes, heck, her outfit had the same small rips in the exact same places!

"You won't get away with this," Jesse growled.

"Oh, but I already have. Ta-ta!" the Admin replied in Jesse's voice.

The fake Jesse, as well as Stella, who was now the inside woman of Jesse's team, disappeared into thin air. The air rung with the Admin's final words to Jesse.

"And I can't wait to see how that blonde friend of yours will react to hearing about your feelings for him."

Jesse's eyes widened further. Everyone turned to look at Jesse in confusion. "Not the time to explain. We need to find Prisoner X and get out of here," Jesse said. The others nodded.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lukas sighed, placing his head in his hands. It had only been a few days since he arrived back to Beacontown from the Admin's palace, and somehow, Radar had mysteriously disappeared on the way back.
Lukas had wanted to turn around and head back to the palace to see if Radar was there, but he couldn't just abandon Beacontown. So he was forced to turn back and go to the town. He knew wherever Radar was, Jesse was with him, and she would easily be able to find her way back to town.
When Lukas arrived at the town, he explained that Jesse and the others were coming, just held up a day or so. Almost five days had passed since then, and Lukas had taken over Jesse's spot as a 'mayor' figure for the time being, and with that came a whole bunch of paperwork.
Lukas placed his quill down and looked out the window. Jesse was still out there, who knows where, and he was stuck in town, not able to go searching for the ebony haired girl.
"I need some air," Lukas mumbled.
He stood up from the desk and stretched, hearing a satisfying pop. He had been sitting in that chair for a loooong time now and, though he was an author, he wasn't used to sitting in one place for so long. At least when writing books, he was able to rest in more comfortable places.
Lukas walked out of the study, eventually navigating through the halls of the fortress to come outside. He walked through the streets of Beacontown, waving to the people rebuilding and going about their day with a smile. Lukas was nearing the gates when they started to open. His blue eyes widened as he saw two people on the other side of the gate walk into the town.
They were both women, one in her early twenties while the other was in her late twenties, early thirties. The older woman had pale blonde hair swept to the left, green-yellow eyes gazing worriedly at the other woman, dark tan skin, and a black outfit that made her look like a warden of sorts.
The other woman had pale skin, eyes shut tight--preventing Lukas from telling what her eye color was--, obsidian black hair kept out of her face by a yellow hair clip, red and white t-shirt, blue overalls, brown tennis shoes, and a green gauntlet. She was being supported by the other woman, thanks to a limp.
Lukas' breath caught in his throat. If it really was her, then where were the others? Where'd her armor go? The young woman looked up at Lukas and her eyes opened, revealing bright green eyes.
"Jess...." he whispered.
"Lukas!" Jesse exclaimed happily.
Lukas ran forward and hugged the girl tightly. She hugged him back as equally tight. "Thank Notch you're alright," Lukas whispered. He pulled out of the hug and locked eyes with Jesse. "Where're the others?" he asked. Jesse looked at the ground.
"W-We were ambushed by the Admin. We all fought with everything we got, but the Admin knocked me away, dazing me. Before I could get up to help, the Admin had-- He killed them!"
Jesse's voice cracked at the end. Her green eyes shut tight to try to prevent tears from falling. Lukas stared at Jesse with shock. The others were all dead?
"I-I tried to save them, but I was too late," Jesse whispered.
Lukas embraced the girl again. "It wasn't your fault," he mumbled into her hair. Jesse clutched Lukas tightly, almost like he was a lifeline.
"It's all over now...."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A few days had passed since Stella and Jesse had arrived back to town. Word of the Admin's defeat, as well as the death of multiple beloved heroes, had spread like wildfire in the summer. Jesse still felt guilty over what happened, and Lukas tried to assure her it wasn't her fault. It was working a bit, as Jesse no longer seemed to blame herself.

One day, Lukas was in the forest looking for flowers. Don't ask why. I'm sure you know. I mean, look at the title of the book you're reading right now. He stopped his search to lean against a tree and groan in frustration. When he didn't want to find flowers, he found loads. But when he wanted to find some, he couldn't find any! (I feel ya man)

"Lukas?"

Lukas turned to the voice and saw Jesse. Her head was tilted slightly to the side, her green eyes wide and sparkling with curiosity.

'DANG IT WHY MUST SHE MAKE HERSELF SO CUTE?!'

"Yeah?"

"What are you doing?"

"N-Nothing."

Lukas stepped forward. "What are you doing? You know the doctor said you really shouldn't move around until that wound heals," Lukas said.

"I know. I just got tired of sitting around doing nothing, plus, I wanted to talk to you about something."

"What is it?"

Jesse locked eyes with Lukas. She slowly stepped forward, causing Lukas to take a few steps back. He was getting nervous with her behavior.

"I just wanted to tell you something."

By now, Lukas had his back to the tree with no way to escape. Jesse stood in front of him, barely a foot of space between them.

"W-W-What i-is i-i-i-it?"

"I love you."

With that said, Jesse placed her lips on Lukas'. At first, Lukas could only stare in shock at what was happening. But, after only a moment, Lukas gently kissed back. Jesse deepened the kiss, making Lukas' face become a blushing mess. Her hands wound through his slick-backed hair, messing up the hairspray and causing it to fall down a bit, sweeping to the right, giving off a messy yet clean look.

They pulled away at the sound of a sword being drawn.

Their eyes shot open and they turned around to see someone standing only twenty feet away. It was a young woman in her early twenties. Lukas's eyes widened as Jesse's narrowed.

(This is gonna be a roller coaster of confusion but here we gooooo!)

 Standing across from the two was an exact replica of Jesse. Except this one had bruises and cuts covering her skin, and she wore the Star Shield armor. Her green eyes narrowed at the Jesse next to Lukas, her gaze like thunder.

"Get. Away. From. Lukas."

Even her voice said, 'You better step away from him otherwise I'm gonna murder some faces today.'

Lukas looked between the two Jesses, confusion alighting his blue gaze. How were there two Jesses?!

"And who are you?" the Jesse next to him asked (let's call her *cough cough* him *cough* Jesse #1).

"You know who I am. Now back away from Lukas and face me Romeo," Jesse #2 spat.

(Quick note: If you haven't seen/played episode 3, it is said that the Admin's real name is Romeo. Got it? Let's continue)

Jesse #1 narrowed her eyes in anger. "I don't know what you're talking about, or why you look like me, but I know for a fact that you are bad," Jesse #1 said.

"Me? Bad? As if! You're the one who stole my identity, have deceived Lukas and everyone else at Beacontown, tried to force Petra to fight me, and locked Jack, Radar, Nurm, and I in a prison! Your time's up, Admin," Jesse #2 growled.

Lukas's eyes widened. He turned to look at Jesse #1. "What on earth is going on?" he asked.

"The Admin is trying to lure you into his trap! Don't believe him!" Jesse #1 replied.

"Romeo, you better stop right now. Otherwise, I'm gonna take extreme measures."

"And what would that be?"

Jesse #2 looked into the shrubbery, and out popped Petra, Radar, Jack, Stella, Lluna, and a person Lukas had never met before.

At seeing the group of people whom Jesse #1 claimed were dead, Lukas turned to Jesse #1.

"Did you lie?" he asked.

"No! I didn't!" Jesse #1 replied quickly.

"Well, if we can't prove this Jesse is the real one, we're gonna do this the hard way," Petra said, placing her hands on her hips.

"And what would that be?"

"This."

Jesse #2 held up a small object after replying to Jesse #1's question. "When I break this, the Admin's powers will disappear. He'll be a normal human. Do we want to test that the theory?" Jesse #2 explained. She dangled the object from her grasp loosely, barely holding onto it.

Jesse #1 immediately stepped toward Jesse #2. Her green eyes were worried and also held a deadly glint under the worry. "If you don't want it broken, then reveal your true self," Jesse #2 ordered. Jesse #1 glared at the other Jesse.

Jesse #1 was suddenly surrounded by a strange glow. Her whole self changed before their eyes. Her black hair shortened and turned a bright red. The same bright red hair appeared at the chin. The skin darkened to a gray-blue color. The facial features changed ever so slightly to reveal a man's face. His clothing turned to a black and almost glowing red outfit. And finally, his eyes opened to reveal yellow eyes with red where the white should've been.

"Congratulations, Jesse. I see you've figured it out," the Admin clapped sarcastically. He turned to look at the dark pink haired woman Lukas didn't recognize. "Xara, I see you've finally escaped your cell," the Admin said.

"And I wouldn't have been stuck there if it weren't for you and your greed, Romeo," Xara spat.

"And now, Nurm has stayed behind in Xara's place all because you built that place to rig the moment all the pressure plates weren't activated!" Jack shouted.

"And you are going to free him, then we'll take your powers," Stella threatened.

The Admin looked around at all the threatening faces. He then quickly grabbed Lukas and held the blonde's hands behind his back. A sword appeared in his hand, just about to slit Lukas' throat. "Give me the object, then I'll let your blonde friend go," the Admin said.

Everything was silent, unmoving.

Jesse glared down the Admin, her heart pounding erratically out of fear for Lukas.

"Fine....."

Everyone's eyes widened at Jesse's agreement.

"But I have some things I want you to do first."

"And what would these things be?"

"First, you free Lukas. Second, you free Nurm. Third, you free everyone else, warden or prisoner, in the Sunshine Institute. Finally, you leave the world and its inhabitants alone for good."

The Admin started to think of the choice. Finally, after a few moments that felt like eternity, he replied.

"We have a deal. Hand over my relic first."

Jesse put the tip of her sword against the relic.

"You free Lukas and Nurm first. Or I will break this."

The Admin narrowed his eyes at Jesse. The obsidian haired girl put a little bit of pressure against the relic, forming the tiniest crack. She wasn't kidding around.

"Fine," the Admin growled.

He took his sword away from Lukas' throat and shoved the blonde to his friends. He then snapped his fingers and Nurm appeared next to Jack. "Nurm!" Jack exclaimed, hugging his villager friend tightly.

"Now give me my relic," the Admin ordered.

"How can we be sure you freed the Sunshine Institute inhabitants?"

The Admin growled at Jesse's smart remark. He snapped his fingers again, and the institute members appeared in the forest. They quickly ran in all directions, happy to be free.

"Now hand over my relic," the Admin hissed.

"Ah ah ah! You remember the last part of our deal? That you leave the world and its inhabitants alone for good? Well, the only way to ensure that is to do this."

With one swift movement, Jesse shoved her sword through the relic, cracking it with a blinding light. "NO!" the Admin cried.

When the light cleared, the Admin was laying on the ground. He was wearing normal clothing, his skin was a healthy tan color, his hair was relatively the same, and his eyes were a shade of yellow-green with the red part of his eyes now white.

"Y-You beat me!"

"As long as I have my friends, I will always find a way to beat even an Admin."

The Admin looked up at Jesse.

"You truly are my champion."

His eyes were full of respect for the coal-haired girl.

"I'm truly sorry. For everything. Now as I think back, I realize my choices were not all the greatest."

"Hey, sure you made mistakes in the past, but now you can start over again. You can go build a house from scratch, enjoy the small things in life, and find friends. That's what you wanted all along, right? Friends."

"Yes.... As an Admin, I didn't really have much company outside the other Admins. But then I made the mistake of taking their powers away. I truly am sorry, Xara...."

Xara looked taken aback by Romeo's apology.

"Apology accepted, Romeo."

Romeo smiled at Xara before turning to Jesse. "Thank you, Jesse. You have freed me," Romeo said.

"It's not a problem."

Romeo and Xara walked away from the group, heading off to start their new lives.

Jesse turned back to Lukas. She dropped her sword and ran forward, tightly hugging Lukas. Lukas hugged back, his head on hers, with a smile on his face. His eyes opened and he pulled away from the hug. "Jess, is what Romeo said true?"

Jesse's eyes widened. "Or was it a trick?"

"It was meant to trick you into thinking it was really me...."

"Oh......."

"But how do you think Romeo got the idea for doing something as crazy as that?"

Lukas turned back to Jesse with shock in his eyes. "T-That's how you really feel?" he asked. Jesse nodded with a smile. A smile spread across Lukas' face. He lifted Jesse up by the waist and spun her around. Jesse laughed happily as Lukas spun around. After a few moments, Lukas stopped spinning but still held Jesse aloft, making the girl slightly taller than him for a change. Sparkling green eyes met shining blue ones.

Jesse slowly leaned closer, smiling as she gently kissed Lukas. Lukas wasted no time to kiss Jesse back, smiling against her lips.

"So this is what Romeo meant?" Petra whispered. "I guess so," Jack whispered back. Radar quickly turned away from the scene, being a proper little gentleman. Petra watched with growing interest and a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Ohhh I am so holding this over their heads," Petra whispered as she snapped some photos.

And before you ask, yes, yes Jesse and Lukas realized the others were still there.

Did they care?

No. Not at all.

As long as they had each other.
