The Games

"We need to attack from above! But to do that one of us needs to distract him!"

BuilderGirl101 turned to look at her friend CatGuy200. "I'll attack from above. You distract him!" BuilderGirl called to her friend before running off to a staircase that led up to the roof of a building. She stopped at the edge of the roof, looking down below to see CatGuy keeping the monster distracted for her. She got out her knife in one hand and pistol in the other. After checking to make sure her knife was sharp and her gun was loaded, she looked down below her to see CatGuy get knocked back into a wall by the monster. BuilderGirl's lush forest green gaze blazed like fire. She wouldn't let her friend get hurt! With a shout, she jumped off the roof. She fired her gun at the monster before landing on it, every bullet hitting the weak point. BuilderGirl grabbed her knife firmly in her hand before plunging it into the weak point, making the monster cry out in pain.

The monster dropped to the ground, dead. BuilderGirl looked at CatGuy, who was struggling to stand up. She ran over and held her hand out, which he took gratefully. They looked at the monster, a smile on their faces. They had just won their biggest battle together. "Let's head back, finish this quest before we log out," CatGuy said. "Well, let's go then!" BuilderGirl replied as she sped off. CatGuy followed, close behind. They eventually reached the quest giver, finished the quest and got their reward, and looked at each other. "I'll see ya later," BuilderGirl said. "Wait!" CatGuy exclaimed. BuilderGirl turned her confused gaze to her friend. "What?" she asked. "I-I was wondering if we could meet sometime soon. Not in the game, but in real life," CatGuy replied. BuilderGirl bit her lip. She had always been told to never meet anyone she met online in real life, but this was her friend.

"How about we FaceTime each other? It's the next best thing since I've been raised to never meet someone I met online in real life," she replied. CatGuy nodded excitedly. "Sure! My FaceTime is the same account name as it is in this game," CatGuy told BuilderGirl. "Same with mine. Now, I gotta get to sleep. I'll talk to you tomorrow, it's the weekend," BuilderGirl replied. They nodded to each other before logging out.

Jesse pushed the rem drive (Aphmau fans will get this) up onto her head. She sat up on her bed and looked around, recognizing her room. Her laptop was sitting on her desk, showing the symbol of the game she just logged out from. The screen turned black, signifying it shut down. Jesse lay back down on her bed and crawled under the covers, already in her pajamas. She flicked the light switch off, and the room went dark. Her eyes closed and she almost immediately fell asleep.

Jesse woke up to the sound of her ringtone of "My Shot" from Hamilton. She sleepily grabbed her phone and checked out who was calling her, but upon reading the name, she jumped out of bed. "Oh no, oh no, oh no! I slept in, how can CatGuy see me for the first time looking like I just got out of bed!?" Jesse exclaimed. She had no other choice but to accept the FaceTime call and put it onto her laptop. So she quickly ran her fingers through her black hair to make it more presentable before pressing the 'accept call' button on her phone then pressing a different button to send the FaceTime to her laptop. Jesse sat in her swivel chair just as the screen showed the FaceTime with CatGuy on the screen.

It honestly surprised Jesse when she saw him. He looked like the person who would be out playing games like football or soccer with friends, which he would have a ton of. CatGuy had bright blonde hair that looked neatly brushed, sea blue eyes that always seemed to have a glimmer in them with a white T-shirt with magenta stripes. Jesse felt like she wasn't ready at all to have him see her, especially in the state she was in. CatGuy's eyes widened as he saw BuilderGirl for the first time. "BuilderGirl?" he asked. "Yeah, it's me CatGuy...." Jesse replied quietly. They stayed silent for a few moments. "I guess I'm not what you're expecting...." Jesse said. "N-No! You're more than I was expecting!" CatGuy exclaimed. "Really?" Jesse asked, brightening up. "Yeah!" CatGuy replied. "Well, you're certainly something I didn't expect," Jesse said. "Really? What makes you say that?" CatGuy asked. "Well, just by your looks I would assume you would be some sporty, famous, popular guy who would much rather be playing football or soccer with some of his many friends," Jesse replied.

"Well when I first saw you I thought you looked like a girl that would be very popular and have a boyfriend," CatGuy added. Jesse raised an eyebrow. "Far from it. You're actually my only friend..." Jesse whispered. CatGuy instantly felt guilty. "Hey, I-I'm sorry. I didn't know that I was your only friend," CatGuy apologized. "It's okay. Honestly, I find it a lot easier to be alone, no one can betray you or break your heart," Jesse said. "I get that, but it sounds like it gets lonely after a while, doesn't it?" CatGuy asked. "Well, yeah, it is kinda lonely. But I'd much rather be alone rather than be back-stabbed by 'friends'," Jesse replied. "I can see it that way. Honestly, it's why I preferred to stick to the library and my room when I was in school. So many girls just wanted to date me because they thought I was hot," CatGuy said sheepishly. "Really? That sounds like you're complimenting yourself," Jesse replied. They both laughed. "Man, you really aren't like anyone I've ever met, BuilderGirl," CatGuy said. Jesse smiled. "Oh, that reminds me. I think it's gonna be a little confusing and annoying to keep calling each other by our usernames. I'll tell you my name and you tell me yours," CatGuy said.

"Is this just a way for you to find out my name so you can try to figure out if you've met me before?"

CatGuy laughed. "Maybe," he replied. Jesse laughed. "Well, I'm Jesse. Jesse Sworde," Jesse said. "I'm Lukas Architect," CatGuy replied. "Recognize my name?" Jesse asked. "It sounds familiar," Lukas admitted. "Well, tell me when you figure it out," Jesse replied. "Will do. Now, what do you wanna do?"

The next few weeks the two chatted via FaceTime every day. They got to know each other until they were closer than anyone in the whole universe. But one day, Jesse waited for Lukas to call her, but he never did. She assumed he was busy and would call her the next day, but he still didn't call her. Almost a week passed and there was no sign of Lukas. Finally, one day, Jesse got a FaceTime call. She accepted it and saw Lukas on the other side of the screen. "Lukas! Where have you been? I've been worried sick about you!" Jesse exclaimed. "Sorry, but I forgot to tell you I was about to move. I spent almost a whole week moving and unpacking, so that's why I wasn't online. I'm sorry," Lukas apologized. "It's fine. But next time, if there is one, mention it!" Jesse said. "Okay, okay, Miss. Princess!" Lukas replied. Jesse stood up after hearing her pet pig, Reuben, squeal. "Reuben? You okay, buddy?" she asked. The little pig ran into her room and ran between her legs frantically. What's worse, she was taking some steps as he started to run between her legs.

"AAAAHH!" Jesse cried out as she fell to the ground. A loud thump could be heard as she crashed to the floor. "Jess?! You okay?!" Lukas asked. "Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow," Jesse whispered. Jesse struggled to stand up, accidentally ending the FaceTime call at the same time. Her hand on the desk was on a very precarious ledge of books, so as she put more weight on it, the books toppled over, sending her crashing to the floor again. "Ouch, ouch, ow, ow, ow," Jesse whispered. She held her ankle in pain. A rapid knocking on the door made her look up. "Hello? Is someone in there?" a voice asked. "Y-yeah," Jesse called. "Are you okay? I heard something," the voice asked. "I-I'm mostly fine other than the fact I fell down twice and did something to my ankle," Jesse called. "C-Can I come in? I know basic first aid," the voice asked. "Y-yeah, come in," Jesse replied. The door to her apartment opened up and someone walked in. Reuben ran into her bedroom, leading the person to Jesse. She looked up at the person as they entered, her eyes widening.

She felt herself fall into those blue depths of eyes she had grown accustomed to.

"J-Jess?!" Lukas exclaimed. "L-Lukas!?" Jesse exclaimed. They stayed still, unsure of how they could see each other right in front of their own eyes. "W-What are you doing here?" Jesse asked. "I moved next door," Lukas replied. They stared into each other's eyes, unsure of how in the world this could happen. The chances of that happening were almost nothing. Reuben oinked and nudged Lukas's leg, looking at Jesse. Lukas walked to Jesse and kneeled in front of her. "You okay...?" he asked. Jesse glared at Lukas. "Does it look like I'm okay?" she retorted. Lukas didn't flinch from her words that anyone else would. He gently touched her ankle which made Jesse wince in pain. "Does it hurt that bad?" Lukas asked worriedly. "N-No, just surprised me," Jesse replied. Lukas carefully and gently inspected Jesse's ankle as she tried to hold in her cries of pain and stop her flinches. "I'm going to get some ice. It's sprained," Lukas said.

Reuben nudged Lukas's arm, making him look at the little pig. In Reuben's mouth was an ice pack, all nice and frozen. "Wha- Nevermind. Thanks, Reuben," Lukas said to the pig, taking the ice pack from him and giving him a pat. Reuben oinked happily. Lukas turned to Jesse and gently placed the ice pack on her sprained ankle. Jesse's hand instantly flew out to her ankle and touched Lukas's hand. Instantly the two met eyes and a red blush spread across their cheeks. "S-Sorry. A reaction," Jesse apologized. Lukas nodded. They quickly looked away from each other. Lukas gently moved his hand from the ice pack on Jesse's ankle. "Do you want to be on the bed? It has gotta be more comfortable than the floor," Lukas suggested. "Okay," Jesse replied. Lukas gently placed an arm under Jesse's knees and used his other arm to support her back as he picked her up. Jesse held the ice pack in her hands as Lukas gently set her on the bed before placing it back on her ankle. Lukas then propped some pillows up to support Jesse's back rather than her laying her back on the headboard.

Lukas sat on the edge of the bed in silence. Jesse didn't say anything either. A few minutes passed in awkward silence. "I-I can't believe you moved next door," Jesse said. "Y-Yeah. I didn't expect that either," Lukas agreed. They stayed silent for another few moments. "H-Hey, I-I'm kinda glad this happened," Lukas said. "R-Really?" Jesse asked. "Mmhmm," Lukas mumbled. Jesse moved her hand and gently enveloped Lukas's hand in her own. Lukas looked at Jesse, his cheeks flushing red. Jesse gently smiled. "I'm glad to have you here too. That way I can do this," she said. "Do wha-" Lukas was cut off. His eyes widened as he realized what was happening.

Jesse's eyes were shut tight as her eyebrows furrowed together in anxiety. Her lips were gently pressed to Lukas's.

It took a moment for Lukas to realize what was happening. He eventually melted into the kiss, wrapping Jesse in his arms. They pulled away after a moment, their gazes meeting. "Wow.... You're full of surprises, aren't you?" Lukas asked. Jesse laughed. "I got a few tricks up my sleeve," she replied, smirking. "So do I," Lukas replied. He gently kissed Jesse. They were happy, and that was all that mattered.
