Chapter 5
"Why won't you answer me?!" Issei screamed annoyed, it has been a few day since Akira and the other's started to train with Rias peerage and the pervert had followed the blonde haired teen on his way home in hopes of getting an answer to his question.
"I told you already, I'm not telling you how I knew your sacred gear nedded to be awakened." Akira payed little attention to the teen and kept walking. His mind was preoccupied by the strange feeling he started to have when training, his body grew heavy and hot like he had a cold.
The training was a slow process unfortunately, Akira only managed to increase his mana enough to summon 35 ice swords at once now. And as far as for his physical capabilities, his speed and strength barely developed.
"But why?" The pervert grumbled and tightned his hold on his backpack's handle.
"You haven't thanked me for it, first of all." The blonde answered finally glancing at his follower. "Second, there's nothing to say really. You now have a reason to train, focus on it, not on why I helped." In all honesty Akira helped awaken Issei's gear only as a move to keep the devil's from becoming hostile, just that, a political ploy.
"...You're right." Issei's eyes widened as he looked down at the ground. "Thank you for helping me."
'At least he's a polite idiot. Guess that's more thanks to those Eastern traditions tho.' The blonde youngster only nodded his head in acknowledgment. As they continued their walk in silence the duo suddenly hears a yelp of surprise drawing their attention. They were met with the sight of girl laying on the ground with her as twords them, her white panties seen thanks to her robe being pulled up by her fall, a open briefcase being next to her as clotches were spread around.
'New challenger approaches. Loli Nun has entered the battlefield.' Akira chuckeled to himself then looked to his side, Issei was of course straight perversely at the sight but shook his head and went to help the girl once he realized the blonde was staring disapprovingly at him.
"Hey, are you okay?" The brown haired teen asked as he helped the young nun up.
"Oh yes, I just tripped. Silly me." The nun nodded her head then started to gather up her stuff.
"Let us help you."Akira said as he helped the girl along with Issei. They then stood up straight after putting the clothes back in the briefcase.
"Oh thank you, I'm Asia Argento." The small girl smiled, causing Issei to blink and stare at her cute face.
"Oi devil, can you translate? Don't have the ability to speak every language without learning it ,unfortunately." Akira said, anyone who read the DxD knew devils were able to speak every language, one of the few things that Akira found actually interesting of the story, shame on the anime for not explaining that plus the changes Issei felt when becoming a devil better.
Let's be honest, DxD exists cause fan service. Story ain't that awesome or memorable, no wonder why season 5 was M.I.A , then again that's my view.
"Yeah, She said she thanks us and that her name is Asia Argento. " The sacred gear holder explained then turned to the nun again. "No problem, I'm Issei Hyoudo and this is Akira Yamasaki."
"It's nice to meet you two, I'm new in town."Asia explained and Issei turned to translate what she said only for Akira to shake his head.
"I gotta get home soon, so I'm going." The blonde turned around and walked away, but not without tossing out a tease that caused Issei to blush and glare at him. "Make sure not to corrupt the young nun with your ways, pervert."
*Timeskip*
"So what do we do now?" The voice of Rey asked as the trio were talking over the phone using Discord, very convenient it existed in the Dxd world. Akiea adjusted his earphones and scanned his room while holding his right forearm.
"Nothing. The devils can do whatever they want in that regard, we need to take time and grow stronger." The blonde took his time talking in order to manage his breathing, ever since getting home from school his body ached, it was annoying to move since he felt sharp pains in his joints.
"Understood, captain bitchass." Akio said and left the channel, shortly being followed by Rey, resulting in Akira taking his headphones out and putting his phone on his desk.
"Should have taken it lighter with the magecraft." The blonde rubbed his forearm, the sensation of pain and discomfort only grew steadily as the day passed. "Some fresh air might help." He reasoned and slipped on his jacket and went for a walk.
The fresh air managed to fix some of the drowsiness of the teen, unfortunately it did nothing regarding his pain.
'It's a nice day at least.' Akira tought as he entered a park, drawing the fresh air into in his lungs, he let's out a deep breath and smiles. Sitting under a tree he leans his back against it and enjoyed the shade it provided.
As his mind finally managed to relax, Akira drifted away from reality into tought. He searched around for the times he had where it was all so peaceful, an image of him sitting on the edge of a river in his past life flashed before his eyes. The loud sound of the running river resonated within his ears, the plae sunlight reaching his face trough the green leaves above. It was surreal sight that carried over fortunately to this new body of the teen's.
Suddenly Akira was pulled away from this bit of heaven as pain shot trough his whole body making his jump and grab onto his side while releasing a raspy groan.
"Damn, calm your shit curcuits." The blonde uttered under his breath while clutching harder onto his side and biting down on his tounge once he spat those words out. He endured the wave of excruciating pain at the best of his abilities until it finally calmed down to a managable degree.
"They're not gonna fix themselves, you know." A female voice said, Akira jumped in surprise and quickly looked to his side spoting a girl that looked his age. She had black hair that was tied up in twin tails which immediately appeared familiar to the young blonde, her blue eyes looked at back at his while holding a sympathetic look.
Her attire was a black shirt with it's sleeves around her elbows accompanied by a brown skirt, a bracelet resting on her left wrist, a pair of black stockings and brown boots on her feet.
"I was wandering why someone would let their mana out so uncaringly, appers that's it's involuntarily tho." The girl knelled down next to Akira, the blonde finally realized who she was when he did. His breath hitched and his eyes widened in surprise.
"Y-yeah. May have overworked them by casting too many spells just after discovering them." It would be an idiotic move to talk to someone about magic opened like this, but Akira knew she was an execption.
"Mind if I take a look?" The black haired asked, after considering it for a quick second shook his head. The girl then put her palm on his shoulder and closed her eyes, over her skin blue lights glowed in a curcuit pattern as she did, it was the sign her magic curcuits were active.
"It's a surprise your curcuits resisted this much." She said as her tone was deas serios, so much so that the blonde gulped down his dry saliva without realizing it. "If you just managed to learn of them it makes sense. Pouring all of your mana at full power into them resulted into a state of shock. Some are even close to necrosis. The effects are temporary fortunately."
"That's a relief." Akira said as his breathing calmed down.
"Stand still for a second." The girl ordered as she tightened her grip on his shoulder. She then sent a wave her mana into his curcuits, making the blonde grit his teeth as his pain slowly receded. She then opened her eyes and took her hand off while standing up. "There. Now your curcuits should go back to normal now."
"Yeah, thank you." Akira smiled and stood up. "Could I learn the name of my savior?" This caused the girl to giggle and cross her arms.
"Since you asked so nicely, I'm Rin Tohsaka." The black haired girl brushed her back back with a hand and grinned lively.
Akira was right on the money, he only nedded to hear the name to satisfy his suspicion. It turned out to be her, this caused a million of thought at once to apper in the blonde's mind. Why was she here? How could she be here? This univers was the furthest from her own, but it could probably have to do with his friends and him.
"I'm Akira Yamasaki." Realizing it was no use to beat his head for nothing, he diregarded his questions. "Surprising to see a fellow mage willing to help another so easily."
"... We have to stick together." Rin lost her smile. "You know about the 3 factions yet?"
"Jackasses that see earth as theirs, yeah." Akira nodded his head, he had a strange feeling that things were going spiral into a darker light.
"Most mages have sacred gears at birth, there are expections however. The factions don't care about humans at all, every mage they go past they recruit for sacred gear users... Those who have don't have any are used are lowly slaves. We can only wait an hope we don't get found." Rin spoke under her breath, anger apparent in her voice. Akira's own expression hardener, he knew the factions were pieces of shit, but even this was something else entirely.
"...You got someone taken?" The nager in the blonde's mind didn't waver, his temter failed to calm down as he prepared to storm the ORC looking for answers... and blood.
"No." Rin shook her head, thankfully this calmed the youngster down significantly. "My family has strong roots, I'm only in town myself so that I can study the mana coming from the supernatural."
"That's good. Sorry for asking, it's a touchy subject, thankfully it didn't happen." Akira scratched the back of his head in slight embarrassment.
"You're okay." The black haired girl laughed and waved her hand. "I'm gonna guess you're the only mage in your family seeing your circumstances. Need any help training?"
Akira went to say he had a way to train already, but the realized what it implied. He no longer could look the devils in the face and not wish to punch them, plus the training would even yield almost no results.
"Yeah, that is unless you aren't too busy. I don't want to be a bother." The blonde smiled.
"Not at all, if there's more free mages around by me just helping you, that's good enough of a reason." Rin then pulled out her phone and the 2 exchanged numbers. "We can even go now if you are up for it."
"I'm down. There's a lot to learn so the sooner we start the better. " Akira nodded and then followed Rin, he was thankful it was Friday since he vould maybe calm his anger enough to not attack Rias ans Akeno when he sees them in class next week.
*Timeskip*
"Regulate your breathing more." The stern voice of Rin resonated against the dark walls of a room, desks with books were littered all over and magic circles were outlined on the ground. Candles ligt up the corners of the room. It was currently late at night during Sunday, meaning days have already passed.
Akira was in the middle of the room with his magic curcuits glowing, in this short time he managed to learn a lot. He could feel mana more easily along with the difference of mana from magic curcuits and from the supernatural. The supernatural only controled the mana that was around them and amplified it with their natural gifts. Humans on the flip side had to train harder since controlling the mana they possed inside their body was much more difficult to harness.
The teen calmed his breathing as instructed and then let his arms get covered in a thick layer of ice, his knees bended lightly before he shot forward and thew a punch, Rin easily moved to the side and countered by punching the blonde in his side causing a groan of pain to be let out.
Mages not only had to train their magic but their bodies too, so sparing like this was important. A fighting style showed itself in Akira's moves as they continued executing moves. He could feel his mana traveling smoothly within his body, his capabilities being boosted as he formed a great sword and swiped it in a large arc.
Rin jumped back and threw a blue jewel that on contact exploded and caused Akira's moves to almost stop. She ran in and kick him sending him out of the slowing spells range and watched as he groaned.
"Tought I told you to watch the footwork." She said and then helped the teen up.
"I tought you only said that to make me look at your legs." Akira teased Rin which caused her cheeks to gain a red color. She quickly let out a breath and then proceeded to bonk the blonde over the head. "Ow ow ow"
"Stop messing around like that!" It was quite obvious that Akira had made some remarks like this one from time to time, he couldn't help it since Rin's reactions were just too cute.
"Ok sorry, jeez, with a right like that you could knock out a boxer." The blonde scratched his head and waited for the pain to go away before standing up.
"You're getting faster." The black haired girl sighed and let the matter go, addressing what was important. "The training is only going to get harder from here. You should take a pause."
"Yes ma'am." The blonde sat down, his comment caused Rin to grin and shake her head before walking off.
His mana control was indeed much better, Akira was now able to create 60 ice swords at once and even started to work on a different spell that could create a difference in many of the fights that would come.
'Kokabiel is going to be the first big cunt we'll face, he wasn't anything to scoff at... before. Now he'd most probably be managable if the 3 of us take him by surprise.' The youngster devised many views of that battle, the best ones always included exploiting the fallen's pride and taking care of him quickly.
"We'll focus on getting the structure of your ice sturdier next." Rin came back after a few minutes with a book in her hand.
"Amplifying the density should be the first step right?" Akira sat up and walked closer, he wasn't a great student by any means but he got some basics down even for the subjects he hated like physics for example. This along with a decent enough intuition allowed him to grasp some of the things he needs in order to grow in strength. Having a logical mind payed off in some situations even in this world.
"Correct." Rin smiled and nodded. "Now we do as before, concentrate and let your mana move freely."
"...I'm gonna be here for another 3 hours." The blonde facepalmed, getting it didn't mean it was going to be easy after all.
*Timeskip*
Monday rolled around and Akira dragged himself out of the house. His mind was still tired after all of the work he did, unfortunately with no way of escaping school. Getting a coffee on the way the teen walked twords his class slowly and pushed it's door open upon arrival, he didn't pay attention to anything the others were doing and sat down at his desk while rubbing his tired eyes.
"Hi Akira. How you been?" The familiar voice of Rias asked as Akira could tell she and Akeno were at his desk.
"Fine. Anything you want to tell me? If not, scram." He wasn't even trying to hide the malice that seeped in his words, toughts of what her kind do erased any tolerence he found with this alternative version of the devil.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed it appears." The red headed girl was taken aback by his words. Sure they sounded familiar to the one's when they first met, but now they seemed even more genuine.
"Says the girl who wakes up in the bed of the pervert these days." The class fell silent and switched to look at Rias and Akira instantly.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about." Rias blushed instantly and glared at him.
"What kind if bs are you spewing Yamasaki?!" A male student walked forward and grasped the blonde's shoulder. As he did the teen stood up and fliched his arm off before looking right at him.
"You're gonna go back to your seat, or I'll make sure you'll need a wheelchair next class." Killing intent spread around the whole class, regular humans couldn't grasp it so the student who tried to atack Akira didn't understand why he was suddenly feeling like running and never crossing his classmates way.
"Y-yes." The student immediately ran back to his spot and hid behind his friend as Akira looked in his direction for a few seconds before looking at the red head again, he only glared before standing back down.
Rias and Akeno didn't say anything and got to their desks, the fear the humans felt for no reason right now was only greater for the devils, if the killing intent Akira gave off before was that of a feedling vampire, this was on the scale of a full on novice. It was past them how someone could grow this much stronger in such a short time, but they knew not to get on his nerves.
Once launch break came around Akira headed to the courtyard and sat down under a tree's shade. He opened his launch box and started to eat a sandwich calmly.
"What was that about?" But of course Rias had jump in and disturb him, sighing longingly the blonde put his sandwich back down and wiped his cheecks with his hand.
"Be thankful I didn't start something right there." Were his only words as he looked up at the devil.
"What the hell do you mean? We didn't do anything to deserve this." She tried to argue but once those words left her mouth he shot up and looked her right in the eyes.
"You take mages into your ranks regardless of their choice, and use the sacred gear less one's as slaves." Gremory's eyes widened as she couldn't see Akira move when he stood up and felt his anger, it made her loose her standing and take a step back.
"H-how do you-" She didn't even try to deny it as the look on the blonde's face only became more grimm.
"I don't care about the dumbasses that joined willingly. I'm not going to take everything out on you since it's not under your control... But just know that we have nothing more to speak about unless it's regarding the safety of humans." The mage calmed down and walked past the shocked devil, silence ensued as Gremory realized she just stared death in the face. Her body screamed to run away as if she was looking at an holy object, mages terrified the 3 factions, and now she understood why.
*Timeskip*
Days passed as another week flew by,the strength of Akira continued to grow as he trained with Rin. The 2 developed a close relationship while spending a lot of time together, the blonde teasing her regularly causing her to have her cute reactions.
He falked with his friends very little since he learned they were training themselves, he didn't ask for any clarification on that since he was too busy. The devils avoided him around the school, he could see Asia hand around with Issei which could only mean she was in Rias's peerage. He didn't care, it only meant that Dohshaken, meaning one less problem.
Dodging a punch from Rin the blonde came back to reality, he went for a kick that was pushed away and met with a punch om his abdomen as the counter. Disregarding it, he regained his footing and caught her wrist and using his leg to swipe at her feet, Rin jumped over that attack but was quickly judo thrown over Akira's back.
"Got you." The blonde laughed and took deep breaths, this match was won the moment her body touched the ground.
"Don't get so proud. It's still 12-7 for me." Rin sat up and brushed her hair back into place.
"Yeah yeah." He felt a buzzing in his pocket and picked up his phone to see Akio was calling him. "One sec" Akira then retreated to the side of the room.
"Yeah what's up?" The mage asked.
"Riser just got to the ORC. Rey is on his way right now." Akio's voice came over the phone.
"...Wait for me." Closing the call Akira stelled his resolve. He wasn't planning to do this for the sake of just beating up a devil, he was sure that the bastard had mages as his 'workers'. It was enough of a reason to let himself be seen by Sirzech's maid in his eyes. His training was going to show it's results in a bit, he wasn't afraid at all. Why is that? He knew exactly where he was thanks to Rin evaluating him constantly and city level was in his reach if he went all out.
