the one the morning after
juliet held the warm tea cup close to her as she brought her knees to her chest. in the living room, zac and jakob sat on the floor playing video games while lena and juliet hoarded the couch.
"you know jules, after the fight lena stole my date." jakob said.
"seems legit" zac laughed.
"hey juliet maybe later we coul-"
zac was interrupted by the sound of the doorbell chiming. lena stopped juliet from standing and went to answer the door.
juliet couldn't see who it was but she heard something along the lines of 'she doesn't wish to see you'. she immediately assumed it was archie and walked to the door.
"it's okay lena, i got this" juliet assured her. lena gave archie a dirty glare before returning to the living room.
juliet walked on to the porch and leaned against the now closed door.
"juliet, i'm so sorry. i don't know what got into me, i didn't mean to pick a fight with reggie" archie apologized.
"but you did, archie," juliet said quietly. she crossed her arms and stared at the floor, she knew that if her eyes met his then she would forgive him too soon.
"what can i do to make you forgive me?" archie asked.
there wasn't a way she was going to forgive him. lena told her about his seven minutes in heaven with the new girl, and how he apparently led betty on and then broke her heart.
"what happened after i left, arch?" juliet questioned. she was waiting to see if he would tell the truth or not.
"well..." he dragged on, "betty told me that she wanted us to be together but i told her i couldn't do that. i want to be with you."
"uh huh" juliet said, "and what happened after that?"
"there was an after party and we started to play spin the bottle, but i didn't want to. they forced me and it landed on veronica, and we um... we kissed" archie confessed.
"okay then" juliet whispered before turning to go back into the house. Before she could open the door, archie grabbed her wrist.
"juliet, please don't" he cried, "i want us to be together"
"then act like it archie, because your actions don't match your words" juliet said angrily.
"i'm sorry. i'm sorry" he apologized again.
"it's one of your million words, and they mean nothing to me." juliet spoke before she slammed the door.
she immediately ran up the stairs and locked her door. after taking a few deep breaths, she sat against the door and held her face in her hands.
how was she going to face him on monday at school?
"yo what's up, doll?" zac said as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
"i'm just trying to get to our class, zac." juliet smiled.
"i'll escort you, you don't want any unwanted visitors right?" he asked, referring to reggie and archie.
juliet and zac sat in their assigned seats next to each other and awaited the morning announcements. principal weatherbee stated that jason's death is now being treated as a homicide and to be cautious. juliet tuned out the rest of the announcements, she had too much on her mind to be aware of her surroundings.
whenever juliet felt like this, she would call archie and he would help her forget her problems but this time, archie was the cause of them.
juliet looked over to zac for a split second, thinking of her options. no, she couldn't possibly use him for her benefit. but then again, he was always pining for her and he is definitely jaw dropping gorgeous.
juliet bit her pen as she stared at zac, the possibilities were endless.
"juliet?" zac asked. she snapped out of her thoughts and looked him in the eye.
"what?" she blurted, when she looked around she noticed that the class had left.
"the bell rang" he smiled down at her, she gave him one in return and packed up her books.
"oh right" she said to herself, "hey, what are you doing after school?"
"i have football practice but im thinking of going to pop's after, why?" he asked.
"no real reason, i just want to hang out" she lied.
the second bell rang and zac quickly rushed her to her class room, he kissed her forehead and bolted to his own class. everyone in the class was staring at juliet, including the teacher.
"mrs. tribbiani, do i have to call your parents and explain to them why you're late to class almost every single day?" the teacher hissed.
juliet gulped and quietly made her way to her seat. she put her head in her hands as the teacher began to talk, babbling about the collapse of the roman empire.
"psst" lena whispered from behind. juliet turned around and placed her elbow on lena's desk.
"what are we doing?" lena asked.
"wasting our lives" juliet responded.
"i meant for lunch." lena rolled her eyes and smiled. juliet shrugged and turned back towards the teacher.
"nice of you to finally turn around ms. tribbiani. now, give me your undivided attention" the teacher sneered.
"you couldn't handle my undivided attention" juliet snarked.
the teacher gasped and started writing something on her desk.
"please leave immediately!" the teacher commanded as she gave juliet the detention slip.
"gladly" she muttered. juliet would do anything to get out of AP world.
instead of actually going to detention, juliet opted on wandering the halls instead. it was quiet and it pleased her.
