forty-one
"I didn't know you wanted a '67 corvette," Paul said, after George walked in the room. He'd been in the room next door calling his girlfriend, making a lot of kissing sounds.(Probably sending her a lot of kisses.)
John eyed him, a mocking grin on his lips. "Send her a lot of kisses, did ya?"
"The walls are thin, mate," Ringo said. George shrugged a shoulder, his cheeks blushing. He ignored John, and turned towards Paul.
"I didn't," he admitted. "But I got wind it was for sale. I had Pete check it out and then, I figured, why not? I was welcome a new car."
"Did you know?" He asked.
"Know what?"
"That the car was owned by Clara's dad," Paul said.
"Kiddin'?"
"Not at all."
George smiled brightly. He crossed his arms over his chest. "God works in mysterious ways, what'd I tell ya?" He turned towards John as spoke.
"Coincidences," John replied. He went back to his phone, smiling at a message that arrived.
"It just so happened we went to the hotel Clara works at? Out of all of the hotels in Vegas. It just so happens Paul lost his phone and Clara found it? That's too many coincidences," he said.
"I can explain that simply. Exhaustion and alcohol. We were burned out so we went on holiday. Paul was pissed so he filtered with a cocktail waitress and that explains the phone."
"Never mind you," George dismissed him.
"I'm taking her out," Paul said.
"It's about time!" Ringo said. Paul laughed. Ringo had seemed not to be paying attention to the conversation. But in the end, his words made Paul laugh, happy he'd finally gotten what he wanted.
He really was lucky.
