{3rd POV}

Doug awoke alone in the bedroom, he sat up and he saw that he was still alone.. and it was still dark outside, 'I should probably go for a walk.. maybe that will calm down my nerves..' Doug thought, he left the bedroom and he wandered around the place, until he was back into the control room.

He stared at the statue in here, then Doug heard Penny,  "Squishy! What are ya doing?" Penny asked, "I'm just taking a walk.. what about you? I thought that you and the rest are asleep.." Doug replied, "We were but I thought that I should check in on ya but you were gone." Penny said, "Well you found me, now is that all?" Doug asked, "Nope squishy, I want to join you." Penny said, "Alright then.." Doug replied, Penny caught up to Doug but the duo wasn't expecting someone watching them.

Lucky got a message from Malak, he assumed that Doug was trying to escape and that Penny was with him, Lucky following the duo, "Buddy, just where do you think you're going? And Penny why ain't taking him back?" Lucky asked, startling the duo, "I'm just on a fucking walk and Penny joined me.. what is the big problem with that..?" Doug replied, "Buddy, language!" Lucky said, "Squishy is telling the truth Lucky, I saw him out so I'm keeping my guard on him." Penny replied, "Well that's not what boss thinks." Lucky said, "I can't be by myself? And like you said there is no where else to go, so there is no where for me to run." Doug replied, "I'm still taking you back inside buddy." Lucky said, "What-? No! I wasn't even trying to run away! Penny was with me!" Doug fought in protest, but Lucky picked up Doug.

He began to carry him back,Penny followed him feeling a little bad for Doug, "Put me down Lucky! I can walk myself!" Doug said in protest, he tried to struggle out of Lucky's grasp, his arm accidentally punched Lucky in the face during the process, Lucky suddenly dropped Doug and pinned him on a wall, "Lucky he didn't mean it!" Penny said on protest, Lucky didn't bother to hear Penny out, he held onto Doug's wrists, "Listen buddy, you're gonna have to calm down." Lucky said, "Lucky just let squishy go! He was scared!" Penny said in Doug's defense, "He hit me!" Lucky yelled back, "That's because you scared him!" Penny said, she was worried for Doug.

Lucky still held onto Doug, "Well, he still needs to calm down, he has no power here, and he needs to obey Lord Malak whether he like it or not, he's a puppet to him." Lucky told Penny, "Don't I get a say or something?" Doug asked, "No, it's sadly unfair, but life is never fair to anyone, you'll just need to get used to it as this is the way life is." Lucky said, "And while you're here, I think that you should lighten-" Lucky was interrupted by Doug, "Lighten up?! You want me to lighten up! You, Penny, and Hangry literally beat me when I was about to leave with my friends! You terrified Damian and Evans. And then Malak reminded me of all my past and my tra-" Doug cut himself off before he could say any more.

Lucky and Penny looked at him confused, "Mh..? What do you mean by bad memories?" Lucky asked, "W- well.. i- i- it's nothing! Now leave me alone." Doug said to the animatronic duo, Doug could feel water coming out of his eyes, "J- just leave m- me alone.. please." Doug muttered, "Hey! Whoa whoa buddy, why are you sad?" Lucky asked, "I.. I don't want to talk about it.." Doug replied, "Squishy.." Penny said then she hugged him, Lucky also hugged the dark brunette, "What are you two doing?" Doug asked the animatronic duo, "We're hugging you squishy!" Penny said, "What for?" Doug asked, "To comfort you buddy!" Lucky replied to the former lawyer.

Doug was confused on why Lucky would do this.. he could understand Penny doing it but not Lucky, "But you always-" Doug cut himself off as the duo hugged him, "I know we chased you and all, and that we jumped you and that I came aggressive to you both but you always need to comfort someone when they're upset." Lucky said, Doug stayed silent, his could still feel his eyes water, he didn't really remember last time he was hugged by someone other than Evans.. so he didn't push the duo away, but he never really had any comfort after he cut off his toxic mother.

Doug sniffed silently but he still was crying, he was embarrassed that he was crying in front of the duo, there was a small awkward silence between Doug and the animatronic duo.. but it was still comforting in it's own way.

Lucky was contemplating was something else, he knew that he was always aggressive and being tough and cold, he did this so he won't be seen as weak for showing his emotions, he also had never really lost or loose to anyone, he hated it. He could barely remember anything in his past.. it's true that he would usually boss Penny or Hangry around but he knew that he wasn't always this way.

But he was still supposed to be Malak's trusted monster along with the others, he was even gifted a speed boost by the guy, he was also sometimes Agatha's babysitter, he was always been very bossy and harsh on his gang, he rarely ever apologize to them, as he doesn't like to give them out, but despite all that whenever he sees someone frowns it they're upset, he would always comfort them.

On the other hand Penny was also thinking about something, it was about the gang, Penny knew that of the three of the gang, that she was the more kinder one to the mortals, despite that she was apart of the Joy Joy Gang, she couldn't help but love them, she love that they are squishy.

Once Doug had stopped crying, he felt a little better, he nudged then gently away, Lucky really didn't know what to say, but know they know that Doug doesn't like to be told where to go against his will.. and to forcefully drag him there, but the chicken broke silence, "Erm.. squishy, could we ask on why you are here?" Penny asked, "Huh..? Why..?" Doug asked confused, "We are kinda interested.. since you are the first mortal to ever mange to get this far, and to collect almost all of the ring pieces usually they'll succumb after Agatha or the Gold Watchers." Lucky said, but there was a small silence between the three.

Doug looked away, he was a little uneasy and uncomfortable with the question asked but he was a little shocked at Lucky's sudden kindness, he sorta expected it from Penny but not Lucky, when they had first met, he seemed like a douche and a asshole, and he had chased him and his friends like crazy.. and he came across as a psycho to the three... but he might not be all bad as long as you don't piss him off.

Doug took a deep breath and he sat down on the ground, "Okay.. I'll tell you two.." Doug said, "I'm all ears buddy." Lucky said, "You could trust us squishy!" Penny said, "Alright.. so I never really had the best upbringing and in my adulthood, I was an damn ignorant bastard, who made poor and horrible decisions, I never really knew how to parent my child, I never gave her a good childhood, and I was awful to my wife. Even tho I didn't have the best childhood, it's still no excuse to what I did.. but to make it short, a car crash happened." Doug explained, Penny and Lucky were shocked.

They didn't expect this from Doug, Lucky thought that most mortals came here and died by their own sins, Penny thought that they died from the consequence from their own actions, well they never really asked any of them anyways, "A car crash..?-" Lucky tried to say something but Doug continued to explain, "My wife was the driver, my daughter Tammy was in there with her, my wife had overdosed on the pills she was prescribed with, she was addicted to it, our relationship wasn't the best throughout Tammy's childhood. My wife once had an episode and she tried to attack me, and we fought quite a lot, I was unaware of how shitty my actions and words were. Evans was my childhood friend and he would babysit Tammy." Doug explained, he felt remorseful of his actions towards his family..

Doug took a bit to say the rest, "I then turned to religion, I thought that it might help. I fucked up my life with my terrible decisions. I later ended up with cancer, and before I went to the hospital, I found a blood ritual online, I had hoped this could help fix my song doings." Doug explained, Penny and Lucky were speechless, they didn't expect this. Doug caught onto this, "You both didn't expect this from anyone? I never really had a lucky life to begin with." Doug said, "Wait did you have an-" Lucky was interrupted by Penny, "Lucky no..! Squishy trusted us with-" Doug interjected Penny, he could understand why Penny might've wanted him to share.

But.. he should really explain everything, "Penny, it's fine, but yes Lucky I had an abusive household, my father was absent and my mother took her angry out on me. She would lock my in dark small places or best until I could cry or scream. There would be times that she would be kind.. but it would turn quickly back into her cruel self, I cut contact with her once I moved out, I didn't talk to my wife about her, nor did I let her meet my wife or Tammy." Doug explained, Penny hugged Doug, "I wanted to be a father that I never had." Doug said, this was the first time he had told anyone of his past, only Evans knew of it.

He always felt uneasy when he was talking about it, Mama bear didn't help it, she reminded him of his mother and past trauma, but he felt another hug, it was from Lucky, it felt kinda nice...

And despite Lucky's aggressive nature, deep down he had a soft spot.. but it wasn't like Penny soft side for mortals, he never showed any amount of emotion except for his angry during his tantrums, but before that he knew that he was human at some point, he barely any remembered it. Lucky and Penny now understand why Doug was here, they knew that he was remorseful of his actions and he want to make it up.

This is the first time that Lucky felt sorry for someone, "Hey Lucky... you kinda remind me of my past self.." Doug said, "How so squishy?" Penny asked, "Yeah.. I'm curious to know Dougy." Lucky said, "Well back in High School, I was full of my ego, I was a ladies man, and I hated to lose, I always tried to show off, I was quite bossy and an ass to Evans, and seeing you bossy Penny and Hangry around, you reminded me of my lady self." Doug said, Lucky and Penny stayed silent, "Well.. you're quite lucky now squishy!" Penny said, Lucky slight smirked.

Lucky then grinned, "Well.. I guess we have something in common Dougy dear." Lucky said, "I guess you're right." Doug said, it was slightly bright out now, "Alright! I'm heading back to bed now, good night guys!" Doug said waving to the animatronic duo, soon Penny and Lucky went back to their sleep mode.

But meanwhile Evans and Damian were back with Bierce in the ballroom, Malak was watching them through the eyehole, "Evans! You and that damned doctor! How could two puny like you escape with all the ring pieces without being shredded?! It's impossible!" Malak said, "You have greatly underestimated them, we would've gotten the ring pieces back sooner or later, and we will get the last remaining pieces and get Doug back." Bierce said, Evans and Damian were annoyed with the demon.

Since because the demon is obviously an idiot, as he could've literally kill Evans and take his soul and do whatever other plans with Damian but instead he is having his monsters do it.. and they are so easy to avoid if you know their patterns, but Malak does keep on saying business calls or something like that, the duo looked at the needle like head, "Don't keep your hope up mortals, I have your little friend, he'll be very useful, I can use him against you both." Malak said, Bierce scoffed, "Don't listen to him loves, we'll get Doug back eventually." Bierce said, the duo nodded, but Evans was lost in his thoughts.

Damian and Evans have both hope that Doug is okay in the Joyful Land place, but they both could never tell what is happening but they are hoping for the best.
