4 - FireCrackers

We walked out of the house, towards Matt's "thinking spot." We got the barrel of firecrackers out and shot them off. I held one and twirled it around. Ryan and Mark were down at the bottom of the hill. "I can't believe I've never met you before." Matt said. I looked over at him to see him with a firecracker in his hand staring at me. His face was illuminated by the firecracker. The other by the starts themselves. I giggled. "Same here." I said to him. "So. There's this coffee shop down the street and I was wondering if you'd like to maybe, go there and, I don't know if you want to-" I stopped Matt with a kiss on the cheek. "Sounds nice." I said. He lost his train of thought and his whole face was red. "Pssh. I'm too manly for this." Matt said. "I'm way too girly for you Matt. EWW." I said sarcastically. "IM TOO PRETTY FOR THIS." I said. "MY MUSCLES ARE TOO BIG FOR YOU TO HANDLE." Matt said. "Matt you're a fucking twig." I pointed out. We both laughed.
We lit another firecracker and sat at the top of the hill, just like last night.
{third person POV}
Mark stopped and looked at Matt and Iris. His heart melted, but he didn't want Ryan to notice. But he did. Ryan stared at them for a bit as they gazed at the stars. Ryan tensed. He told Matt not to get too attached to her. And he just does it anyways. Typical Matt. Mark looked over at Ryan. "They're fine." Mark said. He didn't want Ryan to get too worried. "I put the idea into Iris's head." Mark admitted as he put his head down. "Why?" Ryan asked. "You know she's not staying! I didn't want her to get 'into' Matt. Even if she was staying to be honest!" Ryan exclaimed. "Ryan. They're not even touching each other." Mark said as he pointed to them. And he was right. Ryan sighed. "You're right. I overreacted." He admitted. "It's not like they're gonna go out tomorrow or anything." Mark said. Mark was sweating. He didn't want Ryan knowing they were. Ryan sighed. "They are, aren't they." He said. Mark was a bad liar. "No, Ryan. They're fine." He said. Ryan stared at them one last time. "It's getting late. We should head back." Mark broke the silence. Ryan nodded and made his way up the hill. "Hey you sweaty teenagers. We're heading back." Mark said. "Mark we're twenty." Matt said. Iris laughed. "Mkay." She said as she stood up. Matt followed her. They walked back to the house and the dogs jumped on them. Iris played with Lego for a bit before heading upstairs. "Going to bed! Night guys!" She said. "Night!" They all replied. Mark said the same as he went upstairs. Ryan and Matt stood in the living room for a moment. "Listen, Matt." Ryan started. Matt looked at him. "I'd appreciate it if you'd let Iris not get too attached to you. She's leaving in two days and she gets....clingy." Ryan said. "And then when she leaves she'll get super depressed and-" Ryan cut himself off. "I understand." Matt said. "But I told her we were going to get coffee in the morning." Matt said. Ryan sighed and held his forehead. "Ma-Why did you do that?" Ryan asked, annoyed. "I.... I forgot, Ryan. I'm sorry." Matt said. At this point Ryan was more upset than annoyed. "Whatever. I.." Ryan's voice trailed off. "Just don't flirt with her or anything." Ryan said. "You didn't do anything else, did you?" He asked. "On-" Matt cut himself off. He stared at Ryan. "On her first day here, we went to the hill and kinda just hung out for a couple of hours." Matt said. "And I'll admit, I flirted with her. I'm sorry Ryan." Matt said. Ryan didn't know what to do at this point. "Just..don't do it again, Matt." Ryan said as he went upstairs.
