15 - Thanks for Visiting
-Matts POV-
I watched as Iris lead her footsteps upstairs. I quickly took out my phone and texted Ryan.
-Are you guys ready yet?-
I impatiently waited for a response.
-It's a go-
My smile wrapped all the way around my head.
-Good. Are you guys on your way home?-
-Yeah-
-Ok. How long should I wait?-
-At least two hours.-
-K. Thanks Ryan.-
-Np. Good luck-
I shut off my phone as I heard Iris come back down.
"Alright. I'm done with everything I have to do." She said as she ran her fingers through her h/l hair.
There was a silence between us as she picked up the remote. She stared at it for a little bit then set it back on the couch. She turned and looked at me. "Hey Matt?" She asked me.
I turned my attention to her. "Yeah?" I asked back.
"Can we go for a walk?" She asked again.
I tensed up. Normally when we go for a walk, she goes to our hill and we sit there for a bit. But we can't right now. She'll spoil it.
"Sorry, I can't right now." I replied nervously. She sunk down a bit. "Why?" She whined. I let out a sigh. "I have to wait for Ryan to come back. We were gonna record a couple of videos." I explained, worried. She shot back up. "Oh. You should've told me." She said.
There was another short silence.
"But you guys never record on Fridays." She shot back. 'Dammit.' I thought to myself. "Next week Ryan's gonna be out of town for a bit. We need to make extra videos." I replied again.
Yet another silence.
"But you guys never record extra."
I got more and more nervous with each word she said. "Well we've been doing SuperMega for two years. We figured this time we'll record extra so they get more videos then last time Ryan went away." I explained. She went over to the kitchen and got a Caprisun. She messed around with the straw. "Okay. Can we later?" She asked. 'Perfect"
"Yeah. Definitely later." I said with just the right amount of enthusiasm. "Later as in..." Her voice trailed off as she got a cup from the cupboard. "Two, three hours maybe." I replied.
Iris got another Caprisun from the fridge. "Okay. Thanks, Matt." She said.
"No problem." I smiled.
Iris got a third Caprisun from the fridge. "Can we go to the hill later?" She asked. 'YES'
"Yeah, sure. I mean, we always do." I said. She smiled as she poked the straw into the three juice pouches. "Hey Matt?" She asked. "Yeah?" I said as my eyes went to what she was doing. "When's Ryan coming back?" She asked as she poured one of the juice pouches into the cup. "Soon." I replied as she poured the other two pouches into the cup. "Good." She said. She took a sip of her drink.
"Why do you do that?" I asked her. "Why don't you?" She replied as she took another sip. I laughed a bit. I heard the front door open. "WE'RE BAAAAAAAACK!" Mark screamed at the top of his lungs as he set the groceries down on the counter. "Jesus Christ, Mark!" I yelled. He giggled.
Ryan came in with more bags that he set on the counter. Lego ran up to him and licked his leg. Ryan laughed as he scratched Lego's head. Lego panted.
I motioned my head slightly to the stairs. He nodded. "Hey Iris, Matt and I are going to record a couple videos." He said. "Got it. Find me after you're done, though. I needa talk." She said. "Alright. Cya." He said as he headed upstairs. I followed.
-Iris's POV-
I was scrolling through Twitter when someone knocked on my door. "Heyo dudeio who is it?" I said as I put my phone down. "You're one and only brother." Ryan answered in a happy tone. "In." I said.
He walked into my room and closed the door. "What did you want to talk about?" He asked as he sat on the corner of my bed.
I sat up with him. "Is everything okay with Matt?" I asked him. His expression grew worried. "Yeah, why?" "He's been acting...weird...lately. I'm just a little worried." I said looking down. "How?" He asked throwing one eyebrow up. "He's just been acting..fidgety all day. Like somethings bothering him." I said, shifting my position a bit. "I mean. He acts the same around me." He replied. My mouth went flat.
"Are you going out of town next week?" I asked him. He hesitated at first, then answered. "Yeah. Just for a couple of days though." He answered. The way he hesitated made me think he was lying. But I'll take his word for it.
I breathed in. "Alright-" I exhaled. "Thanks, Ry." I smiled. "Welcome." He smiled. I hugged him and allowed him to leave. Right before he closed the door, I heard his phone go off. He checked it. A smile creeped into his face. He turned his head towards me. "Matt wants you downstairs." He said as he left. My face turned red. "Oh yeah. We're walking now." I said to myself. I got my shoes and jacket on and skipped downstairs.
I saw Matt standing in the kitchen, talking to Mark. Matt saw me upstairs and waved. Mark turned around and smiled. "Oh hey, Mark. Are you going with us?" I asked him. "No. I'm staying here and sleeping." He said. It is pretty late. Why are we walking at 9?
"Oh well, goodnight, Mark." I said smiling him. "Have fun you kids." Mark said as he headed upstairs. I giggled. "Do you have a jacket?" Matt asked. "Matt I have it on." I said. He looked down. "Right." He exhaled. I giggled. "Come on, you goof." I said as I held his hand. We exited the house and made our way down the street.
After a few minutes of walking, I found a pink rose petal.
-Matt's POV-
'Okay. She found it.' My mind was racing with thoughts. "Hey Matt." She looked at me. We exchanged looks. "There are more over there." She pointed ahead. I smiled. "Well I mean, we could go over and look." I said. She dragged me down the street to the rest of the petals.
"Jesus Christ. There are so many." She said. She froze. She stared at me. "Did you do this?" She asked. "No, actually." I answered. 'Ryan and Mark did.'
She gave me a suspicious look and grabbed hold of my hand. We kept walking as we found more petals.
We arrived at the hill. There were candles leading a pathway up to the single tree at the top of the hill. Iris's smile grew as big as the entire Earth. She covered her mouth with both of her hands "Matt!" She whined out. I giggled. "Oh what's this?" I asked her. "Ahh!" She squealed out and ran up the hill. I walked up the hill.
Iris looked around her, astonished of what she saw. She looked into the stars. She looked back at me and yet again, she covered her mouth in shock. I knelt down on one knee and held her hand. We locked eyes.
"Iris. Ever since I met you, I knew you were the one. The one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. Your personality, your looks, your love. Everything about you is just...beautiful. That's why I wanted to ask you.." I took out the tiny box in my pocket. I opened the box to reveal a sparkling light blue diamond with little yellow spirals inside of it.
"Iris Louise Magee,
Will you marry me?"
Around her, bright pink lights lit up. Iris looked around at the lights, the candles, the stars, and the ring.
She began crying tears of joy. "Of course I will, Matt!" She said. I put the ring on her finger. I shot up and kissed her.
We broke apart and hugged. "Hey Matt?" She asked. "Yeah?"
"I love you."
I smiled. "I love you, too, Iris."
-Time Skip-
We opened the door to the house only to get bombarded with Mark and Ryan's hugs.
"Congrats, guys." They said to us. "Thanks, guys." Iris and I said. We talked for a bit about everything that's happened throughout the two year time period. Then Ryan brought up "Mark."
"Hmm?"
"We didn't turn off the lights."
"SHIT."
They ran out the door and to the hill.
"So Ryan and Mark helped, too?" Iris said. I nodded. She giggled.
"You're the best." Iris mumbled to me as she leaned on my shoulder. Her breathing slowed down.
"Thank you for everything you've done for me." She said quietly.
"Don't thank me, Iris. You've done the most for me. You've changed me so much over the years. I'm glad you came to visit."
