As the match drew to a close, Shubman made his way back to the dressing room, his heart still racing with the exhilaration of his century. But as he entered the room, he was greeted by the teasing smiles of his teammates, their playful banter filling the air.
"Looks like you've got yourself a lucky charm, Shubman," one of them teased, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
As he peeled off his sweaty jersey and took a seat on the bench, Shubman couldn't help but reflect on the events of the day. Seeing Ishan again after so many years had stirred up a whirlwind of emotions within him, yet amidst the chaos, one thing remained clear: Ishan would always hold a special place in his heart.
As Shubman and his manager Sebastian sat in the hotel room, Shubman couldn't shake the events of the match from his mind. Finally, he decided to confide in Sebastian about seeing Ishan on the big screen.
"Sebastian, I saw Ishan at the match today," Shubman began, his voice filled with a mixture of excitement and uncertainty.
Sebastian looked up from his laptop, a knowing expression on his face. "I noticed," he replied simply, his tone measured.
Shubman leaned forward, his eyes shining with anticipation. "I really want to find him, Sebastian. I want to meet him again, catch up on old times," he said earnestly.
Sebastian hesitated for a moment before responding, his brow furrowing in concern. "I'm not sure that would be a good idea, Shubman," he said carefully. "Ishan brought out the most toxic side of you, and reconnecting with him could reopen old wounds."
Shubman's enthusiasm faltered slightly at Sebastian's words, but he remained determined. "But what if things could be different now? What if we could bury the past and start anew?" he insisted.
Sebastian shook his head, a hint of skepticism in his voice. "Ishan may have moved on, Shubman. He could have a boyfriend or something. And besides, we shouldn't risk repeating the same mistakes we made with Abhishek," he cautioned.
Shubman sighed, his shoulders slumping with disappointment. Deep down, he knew Sebastian was right, but a part of him couldn't help but hold onto the hope of reconnecting with Ishan.
As the next match dawned, Shubman found himself once again on the field, his mind consumed by thoughts of Ishan. He couldn't shake the memory of seeing Ishan's face on the big screen, cheering him on with unwavering support. Despite Sebastian's warning, a part of him longed to reconnect with Ishan, to bury the past and start anew.
As the match progressed, Shubman's eyes constantly scanned the stands, searching for Ishan's familiar face. And to his surprise, there was Ishan once again, his smile brighter than ever as he cheered Shubman on from the sidelines.
Feeling a surge of conflicting emotions, Shubman made a split-second decision. As he reached the milestone of another century, he turned towards the cameras, gesturing for them to focus on Ishan in the stands. The cameraman obliged, zooming in on Ishan's beaming face as the crowd erupted into cheers.
In that moment, Shubman felt a mix of frustration and happiness wash over him. The only person he secretly loved was now his biggest fan, yet the thought of reconnecting with Ishan filled him with a sense of nervousness and apprehension.
Later, back in the hotel room, Shubman found himself scrolling through Instagram and Twitter, unable to resist the urge to see what the fans were saying about him and Ishan. To his surprise, he found countless posts and memes, all shipping him and Ishan together, creating hashtags like #ShubmanIshanForever and #LuckyCharm.
Sebastian watched with a raised eyebrow as Shubman scrolled through the endless stream of fan content. "You know, Shubman, this isn't healthy," he remarked, his tone laced with concern. "You should distance yourself from all this."
But Shubman couldn’t stop scrolling.
S
ebastian watched Shubman with a furrowed brow, concern etched into his features. "Shubman, this obsession with Ishan has to stop," he said firmly, his tone brooking no argument. "You need to distance yourself from him, for your own sake."
Shubman looked up from his phone, his eyes clouded with uncertainty. "But what if I want to see him again?" he asked quietly, his voice tinged with desperation.
Sebastian sighed, shaking his head in exasperation. "It's not healthy, Shubman. You know that," he replied sternly. "We need to arrange a meeting with Ishan, but you have to be cold with him. Say hurtful things if you have to, but we need to make sure he doesn't come to the stadium anymore."
Shubman's heart sank at Sebastian's words, but a part of him knew it was the only way to protect himself from falling back into the misery of his past. With a heavy sigh, he nodded in agreement, steeling himself for the difficult task ahead.
And so, they executed their plan, orchestrating a meeting with Ishan under false pretenses. As Shubman faced Ishan once again, he felt a pang of guilt tug at his heart. But he pushed the feeling aside, forcing himself to act cold and indifferent, hurling hurtful words at Ishan with deliberate intent.
As Ishan's face crumpled with hurt and confusion, Shubman felt a wave of remorse wash over him. But he knew it was for the best, knew that he had to protect himself from the pain of his past at any cost.
And so, as Ishan turned and walked away, his shoulders slumped with defeat, Shubman forced himself to look away, steeling his heart against the ache of longing that threatened to consume him once more. It was a painful sacrifice, but one he knew he had to make in order to safeguard Ishan's own happiness.
But how can Shubman remove Ishan from his mind.
How can Shubman forger Ishan.
How can anyone forget to breath.
