Chapter 50: Closure
Keetan's POV
Doing the deed with Mister Wall to satisfy our primal desires and longing for each other led me to fatigue. The mere innocent bath I aimed for was tainted with lust and the only one to blame was me because I tried to touch myself again.
I had lost consciousness so Mister Wall had to bathe me. I woke up to the feeling of a huge tongue licking my face.
Was it Caleb?
What?
Why would he even lick me?
This tongue was too huge to belong to Mister Wall.
I frowned. The creature made cooing sounds that could be compared to a pigeon. I opened my eyes, seeing the shiny leathery skin of a big reptile. Drowsiness abandoned me as adrenaline fueled my morning. My flight-or-fight response was triggered.
I scrambled backwards, falling from the bed. The beast growled, its growl was that of a metal door scraping against the floor. The beast leaped on the bed, looking at me curiously. Spikes lined its spine. It had a wide face like a frog and its big eyes were light green. It appeared to be a smaller version of a dragon with pointy black ears like a doberman's.
It cocked its head. I swallowed the saliva pooling in my mouth together with my fright and reached for it. Its eyes crossed as my hand grew closer. My heart jumped when it harmlessly nudged my hand.
I smiled. I scratched the top of its head. It looked at its dog tag which had "Mochi" engraved on it. Mochi bit my hand. I was expecting to feel sharp fangs sink through my flesh but it had no teeth. It gummed my hand like a toddler.
Mochi released a deep purring sound. My tensed muscles relaxed. It'd take me a long time before I can get used to the creatures in hell.
A knock at the door got Mochi to flutter its dark wings and fly to the door. The toothless dragons in my dream were small. Mochi must be an adult if not a teenager since it was about 5 feet tall when sitting. I didn't know how big they could get. I looked at my hand that was drenched with its slimy saliva. It was adorable and at the same time slightly gross.
"Come in," I said. Mochi stood on its two hind legs, placing his front legs against the door as if he was pranking the person behind the door.
"Keetan, if this is a joke then it is not funny. Please stop impersonating a cow purring and just get out."
Well that was Cain for you.
"I'm sorry, that's not me, Cain. It's Mochi," I told him.
"Who is Mochi? Are you cheating on Satan?" he asked— clear disbelief in his voice. My face reddened. I became angry. Since regaining my memories, I noticed how hot-tempered I was.
"No! I will do no such thing. Mochi is a toothless dragon," I explained in panic.
"Then tell your toothless pet to get off the door. I can't teleport inside since Lucifer put a barrier that will only let him teleport to his room."
I puffed out my cheeks and let the steam out. I didn't know how Abel lived with him but I assume that Cain was only nice to his brother. If not, Abel would have abandoned him long ago.
I approached Mochi, petting its back. What was its gender? My question was answered when Mochi raised his tail, revealing his ball sacs.
The creature got down from its place and rubbed its face against my leg. I opened the door, Cain had his arms crossed with patience never existing in his vocabulary.
He cleared his throat, softening his features. Scary. "Well then Your Highness, please change your pajamas, boss wants you to talk to somebody before we send him back to the mortal world."
"Who?" I asked him.
"I forgot his name. I honestly just want to kill him already but the boss said that your friends must be treated well."
Edward? That would make sense since he was taken by demons the last time I saw him. Oh dear, I hope he wasn't mutilated or anything. He was naive to cooperate with Michael.
I took a shower and got dressed quickly. Cain and Mochi were out of sight but there was rustling, Cain's cusses, and Mochi's purring from the other side of the door.
"Stop it, you beast!"
"Do you love Mochi more than Abel now?" I called out.
"Shut up!"
As soon as I got out, my wrist was suddenly snatched by Cain. He slipped a wide golden bangle with a chain attached to Mochi's collar. "If he flies, you'll get dragged with him," he snarled.
"What?!"
"But of course the boss is gonna kill me so I have to go after you if that does happen. It's not like I'm taking care of you or anything so don't get the wrong idea," he stated in a hurry. He always spoke fast when he talked about things related to not caring. With that said, Cain began walking and I followed him with Mochi in tail.
Mochi tagged along and allowed himself to be pulled. I returned the greetings that the demons residing in the castle gave me while Cain nodded his head. The hallway was pretty wide with portraits of Samael hanging on every wall. I also saw Mister Wall's portraits but Samael's selfies were all over the place. Honestly, who really ruled hell?
We entered a room that was just nearby sir's and found Edward sleeping. They were kind enough to provide pajamas for him.
Mochi jumped over the sleeping form thus eliciting a grunt and later on a scream. I thought I'd get dragged but the chain connecting us elongated with magic.
"It's going to eat me!"
"Edward, he doesn't have any teeth. He'll just gum you alive," I assured.
"And hopefully swallow you whole," Cain added with a smirk.
Yep, being a demon suited him well.
Mochi jumped off the bed and Edward, seeing me, immediately got off the bed and hugged me.
"Oh God Keetan. Where the hell are we?"
I accidentally let out a grunt–my attempt to stop a laugh. "Um well...hell. We're in hell."
He pushed me gently. His eyes wide in terror. "Are you serious?!"
I nodded. "Believe me especially now that I have a dragon by my side."
"Holy shit! We have to get out of here!" He shouted and grabbed my wrist. Cain cleared his throat and shut the door lock.
"You'll have to ask permission from Satan or from Samael."
Edward tightened his grasp on my wrist. "We don't need permission! Keetan doesn't belong here."
Cain glared at him and I stayed silent to see the progress of this argument. No matter what Edward does, my heart belongs to hell now.
Okay my heart belonged to Mister Wall...I was still warming up to hell's creepy creatures.
"Look, you can't bring Keetan with you. You're allowed to go back but Keetan stays here and it's not because I treat him as family now."
Why do I feel as if Cain was spurting lies when it came to 'not' caring for other people?
"And why is Keetan not allowed to go back? You of all people know he deserves to be in heaven! This is fucking stupid."
"It's because I went here in my own free will," I butted in. I can't have Edward thinking that I was forced to stay here. "Mister Hellion is my lover and as you have probably witnessed, he is Lucifer. I can't go with you Edward. I'm sorry."
Edward turned around and took me in his arms again. "I can't leave you here! Just tell him to fuck off! You don't belong here Keetan."
I shook my head in disapproval. "That's where you're wrong Edward. For years I thought that the only place for me is heaven but I finally found out that I belong here."
His grip on me was getting stronger. "Then I'll stay with you..." He murmured with clear desperation in his tone.
I was annoyed and at the same time grateful for his commitment to me. I wasn't meant for him. My fate was already sealed long ago. My heart was already in the possession of sir with or without me knowing.
"You have to move on Edward. You have to go back. Your mom needs you," I whispered. My body relaxed' I hugged him back one last time. I was sure Mister Wall planned on deleting his memories. I don't want him to remember me. I don't want him to continuously get hurt because of being rejected.
"But what about you?" He asked in a shaky voice. Edward sobbed. His hold loosened as if accepting his defeat.
I closed my eyes. "I'll be okay. Don't you worry about me."
Mochi whined. He bumped Edward's leg with his nose and looked at him worriedly.
"They won't hurt you?"
"They won't. They'll take care of me," I assured him. "And you need to take care of your mom."
Edward leaned back and took my hand to his lips. Tears streamed down his cheeks. "Do you love him?"
I sighed. "Edward, you know the answer."
"I wanted to hear it from your mouth but at the same time, I don't want to keep torturing myself."
"Then stop doing this to yourself," I laughed. I petted his unruly hair. "Thank you for everything."
Edward tried to stop crying but he was failing. He wiped his tears with his wrists and gave out hiccups and sobs. It was honestly breaking my heart.
He was a good person. People just needed to look past his bad deeds and see the good side of him. People tend to focus on one's flaws rather than see that person as a whole.
Edward exhaled. He faked a smile but his features were wobbly. "I really admire you, I really do. I wish...I wish you were mine..." He said breathlessly. His fake smile was overthrown by his crying.
I will miss this boy.
I will miss them all.
I wiped the tears that had fallen from my eyes and then looked at Cain who had no expression at all. He looked bored out of his life. I nodded at him, giving him the cue to send Edward off now.
The longer he stayed here the harder it will be for him to let me go.
He pulled Edward from me and then faced him in his direction.
"Hey man, give me more-" Edward was cut off when Cain punched him at the face.
"Cain!"
I caught Edward and Cain snapped his finger. A purple portal opened and with one hand, he threw Edward inside and closed the portal. "That's done. Boss is waiting for you in the dining area."
"Why did you punch him?!" Well I did want to hurt Edward before but that was because of what he did to sir. But now that I know that Edward was also a victim, he didn't deserve to be treated like that.
"Bitch was taking too long."
Samael and him must be blood-related.
"Let's go Keetan. It's not like I don't want you to starve but we need to grab some food to satisfy the boss."
I squinted my eyes at him. "Why don't you just say it truthfully?" I asked him.
"Say what?" He asked, getting annoyed.
I cleared my throat. I didn't have the guts or the patience to argue with him. "That you care for me. I know you do."
He scoffed. "Where the hell did you get that idea? Stop being a fool, you fool."
I winked at him. "Aw, you're just in denial. I know that you have a big heart."
"Big heart? Are you assuming that I have cardiomyopathy now? What a good friend you are."
I laughed. "So you do consider me as a friend!"
Cain blushed. "I do not! Stop assuming things."
What was wrong about stating how you really care for others? I could never understand him.
"Hey...Abel told me a secret," I said.
I cannot believe I was lying for dumb purposes.
Cain's ear looked like it had grown. "What did he say?"
"I can't tell you. It's only between us friends."
He immediately placed an arm over my shoulders and looked from left to right.
"We are...friends right?" It sounded like he was being choked while saying that.
"Oh we're friends now?"
He visibly gulped. "Just tell me."
I shrugged. "I lied."
"Why you little!"
"We're friends now right? Will you care for Mochi too?"
Cain's ears almost released steam. Was I that annoying to be with?
"You're fucking annoying."
Well that answered my question.
"Hey Cain...will you miss anyone in the mortal land?"
Cain kept silent but answered anyway. "None. Abel is all I need."
I hummed in response. "I will and it's not that I'm not happy with sir but...I will miss many people."
I was genuinely sad. I didn't think I could forget them that easily. I wish I could watch over them somehow and help them when they're in need.
"You should be ready to sacrifice one thing for another. In life, you'll realize that you can't have all you want. There will always be something left behind so that you can make a decision and I'm not saying this to give you advice. I'm just saying my opinion, stupid."
I rolled my eyes. "Sure...thanks for sharing your opinion." So I let them all go for Mister Wall, huh?
We passed by the throne room. Mister Wall sat on the chair made of gold. The ceiling here was so high from the ground.
"Mister Wall!" Sir's darkened expression brightened. His arms opened. I ran towards him and Mochi was forced to run with me.
He didn't seem to mind though.
He had his tongue out in joy.
Sir pulled me down on his lap and rained kisses upon kisses on my face.
"How was your day? Did you like your gift?" I snuggled up to him and nodded.
"Yes! I really love Mochi."
"And Edward?"
My smile faltered a little. "He returned now."
Sir intertwined his fingers with mine. "That's good." He raised my face and gave me a smooch on the lips. "Let's have dinner at the beach tonight," he said. "I have...something to tell you." He sounded serious.
I cocked my head to the side. "What is it?"
He placed a finger against his lips in a teasing manner. "It's a secret."
