Chapter 47: Lucifer's final act
"Lucifer!!!"
That piercing scream thickened with realization and anger was like a shower of cold water that awakened the deepest and darkest depths of my vengeful core. My resolve further steeled as I remembered how Miniel's wings were severed before he was thrown off the city of heaven.
"I...I do not regret anything...I love you, Lucifer..." He still looked at me like I was the greatest person in the world when in fact he was enchantingly the best creation that ever lived.
"I...I love you so much Miniel...more than my life..." I replied. My voice was broken. I could no longer hide from the facade of holiness I tried to keep when I still fought in the glory of God not knowing that I would be God's opposite.
Seeing Miniel's fall was my biggest downfall. But it was a downfall that caused my greatest rise.
I smiled. I haven't heard his voice saying my name for so many years and in truth, I prefer him calling me Mister Wall. This was a fresh start for the both of us. I would never surrender this love. I will play this game that He was forcing me to play.
And who was I to play fair?
I never play fair.
I always cheat.
I vanished from Michael's sight, reappearing to catch Keetan. He didn't know how to move his wings. I engulfed him in my embrace and flew up before we both crashed into the ground. Keetan had my arms in a death grip. I flew us behind a tree where Cain and Abel were hiding.
Keetan's eyes were sheath with tears. His jaws were clenched. His lips were pressed tightly. He cupped my face and tiptoed, slamming his lips onto mine.
We parted and I waited for him to say something. His mouth tried to search for words as it opened and closed.
"I remembered..." He breathlessly stated. "I remembered how much I love you...and I regret it."
My stomach sank. For a second I thought that God and that asshole Michael had won.
"I regret forgetting you and leaving you all alone..." he added. Every sob that Keetan made rebuilt the confidence that I lost for that unfinished sentence before. He leaned against my chest and for the first time ever since I found him, I truly felt that I had been reunited with the one I thought I lost. "I'm sorry Lucifer...I'm so sorry."
I returned his sweet embrace, savoring this moment despite the wails around us and the obvious death glares we received from the bitter angels above.
"All is in the past now Miniel. Let us start anew.
He looked up and nodded. "My name is Keetan. I don't want that name anymore."
I chuckled. "Of course Keetan. And you must call me Mister Wall in return."
Someone cleared his throat to gather our attention. Cain impatiently tapped his foot on the ground. Abel shyly looked away with a blush.
"I apologize for disturbing your lovey-dovey moment but Keetan's stuck-up angel dad is coming."
I scowled, pulling Keetan closer to the siblings. "Go with them, Keetan."
He gave me the look of defiance. Something that was inherent within him even if he was reincarnated.
"No," he replied. "I'm coming with you."
"Keetan, it is dangerous," I lectured.
"Then if it is so dangerous, come with us," he retorted.
A vein popped out of my forehead. The personalities of Keetan and Miniel clashed with each other creating a more stubborn persona.
Metal boots clanged on the floor. I turned around, finding Michael smiling like a dog that waited for our guards down. Another angel landed beside him but with lesser grace and lesser spunk. Fenris' growls drew nearer.
Michael stared at the dead body of his comrade in shock.
"Gabriel..." He murmured. Fenris walked towards us in a stalking manner. He looked at Michael—his next prey.
"Well done Fenris," I praised. Gabriel's right wing was ripped from the roots. His other wing was torn in half. It appeared that he had also lost an arm. Life had vacated his body.
"You rabid dog!" Michael spat. Fenris growled at him in response.
Michael took deep breaths to calm himself before redirecting his attention to Miniel who stood beside me with his chin up.
"Miniel...come and join us. Your brothers and sisters are waiting. Your mother misses you."
"After pushing him out of heaven? I don't think he would receive a warm welcome there."
Michael frowned. "I wasn't talking to you, Devil. I'm talking to my son."
Keetan's hold on my arm tightened. Air was pierced by fast movements. Three men and two women arrived from above who possessed the inherited characteristics of the angel who arrived next.
Keetan's gorgeous appearance was more enhanced that made him stand out from the rest.
"You really brought your whole family?" I laughed out loud. This was pathetic.
"Miniel," Sophia, Miniel's mother, called. She looked so excited and eager.
Tsk...bitch.
Michael spread his arms with pride. "This is your family Miniel. You don't belong there. Come...live with us. Serve our Father once again, with us!"
Why couldn't his teeth fall all at once as he said that?
Keetan walked forward and I anxiously waited for his next move.
Was he accepting his offer?
Michael's smile widened as Keetan appeared to contemplate.
Was he...really leaving me? Was Keetan this weak to temptation?
My heartbreak proved to be false. Keetan had exceeded my expectations. He slapped Michael's hand and proceeded to land a strong punch to his face. His brothers and sisters, including his mother, gasped. "Stop being delusional. Don't think I forgot what you did to me, father. This isn't my family. I don't have a family in heaven. The only connection I have to that place was Lucifer...and even he is no longer accepted there. "
Michael clicked his tongue. He glared at Keetan with a disgusted expression. "You failed me once again. You are such a disappointment." A spear materialized in his hand. "I already knew this would happen. And I already decided that if you won't come with us...I'll sacrifice you to our Lord!" He shouted. I moved fast enough to save Keetan from his spear. His mother merely stood there looking helpless.
The thing is...even if Sophia loved Miniel, she would do nothing to save him. She was another pet of God, a mother who didn't deserve the title.
I gave Keetan to Cain and told them to hide.
"I won't leave you! We can win Mister Wall!"
I grunted. "You are annoyingly persistent, child. Obey me just this once you little brat," I teased. I didn't mind him being persistent. It was adorable actually. But the red and angry face that Miniel got was adapted by Keetan which tempted me to tease him more.
Cain and Abel dragged the struggling Keetan. Fenris and my vampire servant were beside me.
"Draco, protect Keetan and make sure you are all in a place where you can see me clearly."
I have a plan.
And of course Keetan wouldn't love it.
The angels had us surrounded. "Do you know why Keetan didn't come with you?"
Michael scowled. "You poisoned his mind and heart."
I laughed. "Just as I expected, you're still a narrow-minded fool. Blood is never stronger than bond. And you aren't even connected by blood anymore. He already found a family who he had grown a bond with...and clearly, Keetan's never a heaven boy. Your so-called son is gonna love getting taken from behind," I teased. Michael snarled.
"Repulsive! You will pay Lucifer! I will make sure you no longer live to tell the tale of this day again!"
His sons and daughters held their weapons. They attacked me all together with Michael and Sophia. Fenris had my back and easily ripped one of his sons in shreds.
What could I expect from one of the legends?
I used my trident with my right hand and created fireballs using my left. My body moved in instinct as I ducked from a thrust of the spear and jumped from a downward kick. My fireballs clashed with their holy beams, dispersing the mixed energies in the air.
"Return Miniel to us!" Sophia shouted. Her form was perfect with her twin gold daggers in possession.
"Has anyone told you how much of a bitch you are?" I laughed. I was pretty fond of Sophia back then since I thought she was a good mother.
I grabbed the face of one of his sons and blasted melted his head with my conflagration.
What a waste of energy.
Sophia gasped, falling on her knees from devastation.
"Ezekiel!"
His other siblings stopped fighting and looked at their brother lying down on the floor. Michael hit the end of his patience, taking a deep breath to blast holy beams of light from his palms. His children and wife did the same. I had to kick Fenris out of the circle.
Are you watching Keetan?
This is for you.
I commend Michael for teaching them this trick. Who knew they could corner me?
The beams latched to my body like sharp teeth. The holiness being emitted by them weakened my dark soul. I let out a pained snarl and kneeled.
"Keetan!" I screamed. My muscles grew weaker. My trident fell on the floor. Keetan was held back by Cain and Draco.
Draco clamped his hand over his mouth as Keetan tried desperately to reach me.
He still loved me even when I melted his brother's face like a candle.
I need no proof anymore.
Spears materialized and pierced through my legs, chest, arms, and head.
It was a painful death worth remembering for I have successfully claimed Keetan's heart.
"Die Lucifer!" Michael shouted.
I smiled. "So I will..."
Keetan finally broke free from Cain and Draco. His wings fluttered; he was a crying mess.
"I leave everything to you Samael...farewell, Keetan."
I have proven that my life is worth less than yours...
My love is far higher than the heavens above...
This might be my last act, for you will no longer be fooled in the next...
This is my last downfall for the next is when I will rise again.
The black dust coming from my withering body gathered around Keetan.
This is my gift to you...inherit it my love...
"Oh hell naw Lucy! You're gonna leave all your shit for me to clean up? #SamaelTheToilet. Berry, will you stop crying?!"
