The morning of a lifetime
"Ugh, all these emotions reminded me of that." Tsuna groaned as he walked home, candy bars stuffed in his mouth. "These butterfingers are really helping" He took another bite out of the crunchy candy when he saw the clouds bunching up.
'Rain?' He thought to himself as he walked faster. He quickly went inside his house after greeting (read: yelling) his mother that he was back. "Mom?" He called out going to the kitchen.
There was no reply. He felt something behind his back and turned, moving away. He just barely dodged a kitchen knife. "M-mama?" He stuttered. 'Holy shit, who told her about me skipping detention?!' He thought as he backed away with his hands up.
"Tsuna~ you wouldn't have happened to interrupt one of your teachers Classes, then go to detention fight students there, ignore them then skip out ...would you?" Nana asked a smile on her face.
"W-well I wouldn't call it a fight or anything, I-i mean it's not like I didn't go at all I mean, I technically did go r-right?" He asked sweat dripping down his face as he tried to defend himself.
"Well then I guess i'm technically not going to ground you for the night right? The chains will. I mean, technically."
She spoke getting out a long pair of chains.
"Wait mom where did you get those? Wait, no, NO, DONT COME NEAR ME OH MY GOD WAIT MOMMY IM SOR-" A scream was echoed throughout the town of Namimori.
Tsunayoshi Sawada was currently stuck. Wrapped in chains in his room, with a locked door and a plate a food he couldn't eat due to the chains. All he had was a window, and his imagination.
That night Tsuna starved and slept on the floor of his own bedroom, due to falling with himself still chained to the chair.
The next day
Tsuna woke up chain-less. The only evidence being the chair that was left behind. He was probably late but eh, you can't blame him after the night he's had. He slowly did his morning routine, that was until he heard the demon- ahem sorry typo, his mother call him downstairs.
Carefully walking down the stairs, and I mean carefully, curse those invisible gnomes. He approached his mom with her typical apron and motherly smile on her face while holding a poster.
"Tsuna look! I hired a tutor for you after this came in the mail! You really need this tutor, Tsuna. You're behind in all of your studies!" His mother sighed, fanning herself with the suspicious flier.
"I'm only behind because they don't teach the right material! Especially Nezu." He said, muttering the last part.
"Well whatever, your tutor should be on his way right about-" She was cut off by the doorbell.
"Now!" She exclaimed. "Tsuna go introduce yourself and make a good first impression!" She eagerly said shooing her son away. 'Something is telling me I'm going to regret everything in my life after I open this door.' He sighed. 'Oh well, can't get much worse than my mom.' He thought.
Opening the door he heard a deep voice call out to him. "Ciao, you must be Sawada Tsunayoshi, correct?" A man with onyx eyes and curly sideburns with a wide brimmed fedora with a stripe of yellow on it.
"Yeah, and you must be my tutor right? Mr...?" Tsuna asked discreetly eyeing the man up and down. "Reborn, and it's not befitting of a Mafia boss to eye someone." Reborn said with a smirk.
'Ugh, soo regretting this.' Tsuna thought to himself with a small frown. "Ah, Mafia Boss?" Tsuna asked warily. I mean he knew it was coming but not this soon!
"I'll explain, you are a Mafia boss candidate of Vongola due to having the 10th generation blood passed down to you from Primo, the first Vongola Mafia boss and its founder. By the way, it comes from your fathers side." Reborn explained, watching Tsunayoshi for a reaction.
"Oh, cool I guess." Tsuna replied. 'What the hell? "Cool?" That was it? Something is not right...' Reborn thought. As Tsuna invited reborn in, reborn was thinking.
'Does he already know about the Mafia? But he's a civilian,' He observed as Tsuna said he should be going now. 'At least he's supposed to be. I need to watch him even more.'
"Hey Reborn, you're not just a tutor are you?" Nana asked while cleaning some dishes. "Tutors don't usually have chameleons following them nor do they have such weird fliers."
'Now the wife is more than what the info told me? Dammit, who the fuck typed this outdated information. Ugh, Ietmitsu that dumbass.' Reborn tugged down his fedora, causing it to cast a shadow over his eyes.
"And what makes you think that Nana?" He smoothly said only letting a bit of amusement show in his voice. "Ara, just a mother's intuition mostly!" The woman giggled as she began to dry her hands.
"Hm, intuition huh." Reborn muttered as he chuckled. The woman spun around and turned his way a carefree smile on her face. "Reborn, please take care of my son for me. I'm sure you'll teach him great things I can feel it."
"Of course I will, I'm not some half-assed tutor. You're looking at the greatest in the world." He replied, 'this mission is either going to be more amusing than I thought or the death of me.'
"Oh and Nana I'm going to go out for a bit if you don't mind." He stated as he got up and scooted his chair back in its place.
"Of course I don't! Be safe!" Nana replied happily, not even thinking about the last part she said. 'She's so used to telling Tsuna that, that it eventually became an automatic respond.'
Reborn pondered as he skillfully blended into the shadows as he begun to dash towards the route Tsuna usually takes. 'It could just be part of being a mother caring for her child but what makes her say "Be Safe" so much that it didn't even cross her mind?'
"Ugh, Iemitsu you and this outdated information, I swear I'm going to kill you when I get back." Reborn smirked as he thought of ways to torture the blonde that he had a...stable? Partnership with.
MEANWHILE WITH TSUNAYOSHI
The brunette kept walking while pondering on why the Hitman decided to show up now. 'I usually thought that Vongola would make a move when I'm in highschool not this early on in middle school. I'm only 13! Well, I am turning 14 soon...but still that doesn't make sense.' As he kept thinking he looked up to see a convenience store.
"Well, it's not bad to take a quick breather and snack while thinking right? Plus I am already late...and it's not like mom will notice!" As he walked in the convenience store he stuck a hand in his pocket looking for money.
*He pulled out loose change and enough money to make 30 bucks. He decided to get light snacks like A couple boxes of Strawberry pocky, A strawberry Calpico drink, and a box of pink, white, and green dangos. After he payed for it he walked away with a white plastic bag as he once again headed to school.
It was only while walking did he realize someone was behind him staring holes into him. That someone just so happened to be a certain Hitman.
Tsuna sighed as he turned around warm brown golden freckled eye meeting inky black ones. "Reborn," Tsuna greeted with a slight nod of his head. He took a tiny step towards the suited man.
"What brings you out here on this fine beautiful morning?" Tsuna asked, the hand carrying the plastic bag slipping into his pocket while the other gestures to the scenery.
"Oh nothing much," Reborn started as he smirked. "Just curious as to why the future boss is late to school." He finished as he narrowed his eyes, his smirk threateningly widening.
"O-oh that, haha, well you see funny story actually," Tsuna nervously replied his eyes scanning the setting their in for a distraction. 'C'mon anything, anything, distraction, distraction, distraction, OH! There.' He thought as he spotted a chihuahua without its leash leaving its houses gate.
"Actually, I was just trying to help this poor chihuahua get back to its owner!" Tsuna quickly said as he dashed to the dog letting it sniff his hand first then taking its leash. "S-see? He always does that, silly dog." The chihuahua kept licking him as he prayed for Reborn to fall for it.
"Ah, okay then." The man of his prayers said. He let out a breath he didn't even realized he was holding in. That was until this was said. "What's his name then?" Reborn said cockily with a smirk.
"H-his name?" 'Think Tsuna think! Oh my god what's his name? WHAT'S HIS NAME?!' "His, uh, his name is," he gulped, taking in a big breath. "His name is-" "Ah, Tsuna?" A feminine voice cut him off.
His eyes quickly looked at the owner of said voice. 'THANK GOD! OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS I'VE NEVER FELT SO GRATEFUL IN MY LIFE! I LOVE THIS WOMAN I AM GOING TO MARRY THIS ANGEL!' As Tsuna mentally thanked and praised his ginger haired savior, kyoko, he noticed she was saying something.
"Oh, who is this? Is he your dad Tsuna?" And with those words everyone except for the oblivious school idol froze. "My...Dad...?" Tsuna muttered. Everything was silent until he bursted out laughing.
"Oh my God! Him? Him, of all people? Oh that's too funny, Kyoko you should be a comedian! Oh my freaking god!" Tsuna clutched his stomach as he breathily laughed at the comment.
Reborn said nothing his eyes narrowing to slits as his finger twitched. 'If only I could shoot him right now...' He darkly thought a smirk edging on his face. He regained his posture as he looked at the confused teen girl in front of him.
"No, I'm not his dad I'm his tutor. My name is Reborn, a pleasure to meet you." He shook the girls dainty hand as he politely smiled. Kyoko blushed a bit as she smiled back and greeted him.
Tsuna at this point recovered, and stated how they were gonna be late with this reminder Kyoko left and went on ahead as Tsuna stayed back. "Just know Sawada Tsunayoshi, you will pay for that. Don't forget I'm the greatest Hitman in the World before I'm your tutor."
And with that promise for pain and blood Tsuna quickly sprinted away from the bloodthirsty male and finally left for Namimori Middle School.
The moment he made it to the school gates he noticed how he wasn't even that late. Everyone was still outside, sure they were moving into the school, but still outside. He quickly slipped into the school yard as he saw Kyoko and Mochida talking. Well more like Mochida bothering Kyoko.
"Say, you wanna go out with me? Huh, I'd make you feel special. How bout it, babe?" Mochida said his ugly face getting even uglier by the second. Kyoko looking disturbed and disgusted tried politely declining, but Mochida seemed like he wasn't getting any of it through his thick head.
Tsuna sighed and set his food down in a corner where no one else was. One hand in his pocket he walked towards the two with a bored look on his face.
"Hey Kyoko! Do you remember what page the homework was from last nice? I really can't remember and I've been trying to find it in my folder but I forgot. Oh and Hana says she's looking for you by the way."
He said as he stepped in between the two, smiling a bit at Kyoko when the girls whole face turned to relief and gratefulness. Before she could play along though, Tsuna felt a grubby hand grip his shoulder hard as it turned his body around.
"Oi! Dame-Tsuna, what the hell do you think you're doing talking to my girl?!" Mochida sneered as his grip tightened. Tsuna inwardly winced but kept his unbothered façade on the outside. "You looking for a fight, Huh?!" Mochida kept going as Tsuna shook his hand off his shoulder.
"No you imbecile, I wasn't even talking to you first of all I was talking to her, Second of all it's rude how you call her 'your girl' as if she's a possession and not a human, and third of all your breath smells like crap so stop getting all up in my face." Tsuna stated his tone of voice cold and his eyes narrowed a bit.
"You know what? I'm gonna be late I don't have time to deal with the likes of you." And with that Tsuna grabbed his snacks and went into the building as the bell rang.
When he got into the classroom everyone immediately began to whisper about the scene with him and Mochida this morning. Tsuna ignored it all as he walked to his desk he saw Kyoko smile at him as he smiled back. That was until one of his classmates got in his way.
"What do you want?" Tsuna said not in the mood to deal with his schoolmates. "Captain Mochida said he'll be waiting behind the gym during lunch break for you, and there you guys can settle things between you two about Kyoko."
He turned his head as he heard Hana talking excitedly to Kyoko. "He says he's going to challenge him to make up for disrespecting you both this morning." Kyoko looked up at her friend worriedly. "But it's not like that-" "Yeah right!" Hana cut her off as she cheekily smiled. Another girl saying how cute Mochida and Kyoko are together.
"But it's really not like that, we just happen to be on the same committee!" The poor girl tried to explain as he friends denied thinking it was just her being embarrassed and shy about what they thought was her crush.
As this was happening Tsuna went and sat in his chair looking outside the window thinking, while eating Pocky and sipping on his strawberry flavored drink.
'Well, this is not how I planned my day to go.'
A.N
Oh my god it's been too long since I've updated this! I was super busy recently, I even got a cartilage piercing done this week! I hope you enjoy this chapter it was halfway there to 3000 words! Which for me is a super accomplishment! I put the * in the paragraph because I have no idea how Japanese currency works so I described it using American Currency. Also how did you guys enjoy my OOC Nana? She's not always like that but there are times when that scary mother side of her comes out. And she did that to Tsuna cause I have a head canon that back in highschool she was a delinquent and usually got into fights against gangs. Which is why when she met Iemitsu and Tsuna was born she decided to bury her past as a delinquent and decided to change for the better! But it still leeks out from time to time. By the way if anyone knows credit to the picture used for this chapter please tell me! I usually use Pinterest for pictures and they never have the artists name (and if they do it's rare) and I couldn't find a watermark on it. Anyways this authors note is taking too long, so thank you to those who support me by voting, commenting, and adding it to their libraries and reading lists!
Ciao~
Sincerely, the author
