Translation is the expression in another language (TL) of what has been expressed in another (SL) preserving sematic and stylistic equivalences

Is the replacement of a representation of a text in one language by as equivalent in a 2nd language (Hartman & Stork)

Often, though not by any means always, it is rendering the meaning of a text into another language in the same way that the author intended the text (Newmark)

Kade(1968) defined interpreting as a form of translation in which:

-          The SL tex is represented only once and thus can not be review or replayed

-          The TL text is produced under time pressure, with little chance fir correction and revision.

Form of Translation:

-          Written-written trans

-          Oral-oral trans (interpreting

-          Written-oral (sight trans)

-          Oral-written ( dictation trans)
