URBOSA x reader
Finally.
The walls came into view.
They were much bigger than you had imagined, towering above even the guards and their spears. The entrance seemed enormous too, the beautifully constructed arch contrasted against the usually empty desert and the blue stones sparkled as the sun's strong rays shone down. You take a moment to feel accomplished. They say a non-hylian human has never travelled to this town before. In fact, someone like you has never even set foot into Gerudo Desert. Ever.
"Vasaaq."
One of the guards cautiously looks down at you, her eyes scanning for any signs of danger. Or perhaps she's curious to know who (or rather what) you are.
"O-Oh..! Vas-ack."
You have a go at pronouncing the greeting, but find yourself grimacing at your own voice instead. The dryness of your throat doesn't help you either.
Maybe it was the rumours you heard as a child of the Gerudo women only being capable of fighting fierce battle, or the overall intimidating aesthetic of the guards, but you expected them to get angry at your butchering attempt at their language. Instead, one of them gives a hearty laugh. You nervously smile back.
"What a cute vai!"
She exclaims, raising her spear and allowing you to proceed into the town. You blush and mumble an embarrassed 'thank you', hopping past the guards.
The town itself was even prettier than the walls, and much more lively than the desolate sea of sand that existed outside the walls. To say that you were taken aback would be an understatement. Your eyes are drawn to the many stalls selling all kinds of items; There are foods here you've never seen before and never even heard of before, the loud yet appealing chimes of metals hitting each other draw your attention towards a stall selling striking instruments that could double as crafty weapons. One of the women were selling a bunch of cute clothes, alongside some interesting armour pieces which looked to serve mostly an aesthetic purpose. She warmly smiles at you, noticing you staring. With your cheeks still slightly pink, you head over to the stall.
"Sav'otta!"
The woman takes a moment to asses the piece you would most likely be interested in. She surely notices your unusually rounded ears, but decides not to comment on them.
"A young vai such as yourself seems to be in need of a face covering. I have one that would perfectly suit you. Do you have a favourite colour?"
You nod your head gratefully, telling her your favourite colour. A face covering would absolutely be of use. You hadn't even thought of packing one.
"Here!"
She pulls out a rather impressively decorated fabric. Although the primary colour used was a dull version of your favourite colour, the golden thread really helped the design shine.
"All yours at a discount, since you seem like you really need it."
"Thank...."
You cough.
"I mean... sarqso!"
Her smile falters and your thoughts rush to the conclusion that you had said something wrong.
"Oh dear..."
The woman blurts out, whilst exchanging your rupees for the face covering.
"Say, have you tried a hydromelon? It would help with your throat. If you meet someone named Anike, tell her that Irom wants her to give you a hydromelon."
"There's no need-"
You quickly interject, not wanting to overstep boundaries. Irom shakes her head.
"Don't worry! You just focus on resting your throat."
She smiles at you once again and your cheeks start to warm up. Soon enough, Irom busies herself with another customer and you're left to wander around the varied stalls.
Eventually, after you managed to find Anike and receive your free hydromelon, your bag had become full with an intriguing collection of trinkets and souvenirs and, though your rupee collection had depleted quite a bit, a satisfied smile rested upon your face. You were having fun.
"Sav'saaba, young vai."
A voice from behind you firmly introduced itself. You spin on your heels, expecting another friendly face selling something unique.
"My name is Urbosa."
And so, thats the story of how you managed to get a peek within the 'castle' rooms. The leader of the Gerudo had taken an interest into the rumours that a round eared human had managed to find her way to Gerudo Town. Needless to say, Urbosa immediately invited you to join her for dinner to share the details of your journey. At least you wouldn't need to worry about spending rupees on an inn.
"What brings you to this town?"
Urbosa inquires whilst taking a sip of some tea that had been previously prepared for her.
"I want to write a book about my experience in Hyrule, since back at home we don't really have much information."
You truthfully answer, looking down at your own cup. A comfortable silence falls over the dining table as Urbosa ponders for a moment.
"Very well. Then you are welcome to stay for as long as you need with me."
She finally concludes, gently placing her cup down on the table with little noise.
"Huh..?"
Your gaze shoots up to the leader, eyes wide with awe.
"And I shall give you a tour of the town, desert, and perhaps the mountains. On one condition."
Your astonished expression causes her to smile softly.
"You are to join me for dinner everyday and tell me about your home. I am incredibly curious about you. I've never heard of a human like you with rounded ears."
"Of course! That sounds like an amazing deal."
You answer without thinking. Truth be told, Urbosa had captured your interest too, yet in a different way than you had captured hers. Simply put, she was stunning. She could easily throw you out (literally) and yet she had decided to show kindness to you and allow you to stay and learn. You were utterly fascinated by her and this fascination quickly outgrew your current interest with the town.
Thus, one day at a time, you experienced the life of the Gerudo, both past and present. You had a go at many of the activities that there were to do; including a rather strange one of 'seal racing', along with trying a 'noble pursuit'. You also explored the ruins and listened to Urbosa explain their importance, as well as the general history of the Gerudo. Every night would have you going to bed overthinking your interactions with the woman with a rather large blush present on your face.
What had been planned to be a couple of days quickly grew to be weeks. There was nothing else to learn from Urbosa, nor was there anything for you to share about your life. Despite that, you enjoyed staying by Urbosa's side. She would even let you write your journal whilst she worked with other important Hylian figures (you were super pleased to meet Zelda the most). Your dream had changed from being an author to simply staying and helping Urbosa. So you worked up the courage one day to ask her to be your girlfriend. This completely took her by surprise, but she gleefully accepted.
You were both extremely content with each other's presence.
