CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Gina was buried a week ago. I haven't said much
to my daddy after her death. I haven't been in the
house that much and I haven't been going to the office
either.
Gina's death is a huge blow to me. Sometimes I
feel like it's all a dream, like it's a very long bad dream
and Gina would just show up again. But I was there,
I saw her being put into the ground. She's gone
forever.
Since Gina died, I feel like someone has been
following me. Sometimes I feel I'm just imagining it
and other times it just feels real. I don't want to tell
Mark about it because I don't want him to worry.
_______________
"Mark, I don't want any of it anymore. I don't want a part of Anders group and all that crap. I think it's time I begin to live my life the way I want to. Since Gina died..."
"I understand and I was hoping you would say that." He says.
His arm is across my waist and our legs are entwined on the bed. "I have a surprise for you."
"A surprise?"
"Yup. Get up. Let's go." "Go where?"
"To the surprise." Mark says chuckling.

"We are here." Marks says grinning as he pulls
over.
I'm confused. "Are we meeting someone here or what?"
"Nope. Look at it."
"Look at what? The building?"
"Yes, the building. It's yours. Now you can start off your dream of becoming a wedding planner."
What? Mark!
"Mark, baby... why...I don't know what to say." I stutter.
"Just say Marky, thank you, let's go check it out."
I laugh. "Fine. Marky, thank you, let's go check it out." I mimic his voice.
Mark opens the door of the car and I pull him by the arm.
"Wait."
"What?"
"Thank you. I love you. You are really the best thing in my life."
"Ditto." Mark smiles and he leans in and kisses
me.
______________
I tendered in my resignation letter today and I'm surprised daddy has not called me yet. He is going to be heart broken, him and his big plans for me.
I pull over at the grocery store and I pull my hair
up in a ponytail and I stay down in the car. Someone
has indeed been following me. A blue van. I stopped
at the grocery store not because I want to get
anything, but because I want to be sure I'm really
been followed.
Just like I suspected, the blue van also pulls up
next to my car. I take my phone and I quickly text
Mark.
Me: I think I might be in trouble. I'm at the grocery store.
Mark: I'm coming right away.
A man that looks like he is in his late twenties steps down from the van. Hold on. I know this face. Where have I seen this face?
Shoot! I remember. He is the guy that was fucking Gina that day I walked in on them. What the fuck does he want with me?
He walks over to my car and he taps on the window. He looks harmless. I grab my pepper spray in one hand and I open the door with the other.
"Hi." He says. "My name is Josh. I was Gina's boyfriend but I'm sure you already know that."
"You've been following me."
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Gina wanted me to give you something."
Gina wanted me to have something?
"What is it?"
"It's a letter. She said I was to give it to you only when something happened to her." He dips his hand into the pocket of his jacket and brings out an envelope. I take it from him.
"Why didn't you just have this delivered at the house."
"Gina didn't want it to get into the wrong hands. She wanted me to give it to you personally."
"I see. Do you think she did it? Do you think she killed herself?" I ask him.
"No. But then again I could be wrong. Gina had issues."
Mark pulls over in the grocery store and he comes dashing towards me. I step out of my car.
"Reva. What happened?"
"I'm sorry. False alarm." I say squeezing my eyes
shut.
"I have to go now." Josh says and gets into his van and drives off.
"Who was that?" Mark asks with narrowed eyes.
"Gina's boyfriend. He had something from Gina for me. A letter."
I wonder what is in this letter.

"Are you going to read it or what?" Mark asks as he sips his coffee.
"I'm scared. I don't know what is inside this letter and I'm scared to find out."
"Gina wanted you to have it and she wanted you
to have it for a reason. I think you need to read it."
I heave a deep sigh and I open up the letter.
Dear Reva,
It looks like I'm dead since you are reading this. I hope you are not sad for me because I know how overly dramatic you can be. I'm just kidding. Please don't be sad for me. I want you to be happy.
Reva I found out something. I found out who your birth mother is. Her name was Patricia Anderson. She was Jacob's first wife. Reva, Jacob is your biological father. I don't know how you got into the orphanage and I don't know why he makes you believe that you are adopted when you are indeed his flesh and blood, a true Anderson. This information is very important to Jacob. It's his greatest secret and if he ever finds out I discovered it, he would kill me.
I don't know what you are going to do with this
information but I thought you have the right to know.
I love you so much sister and I wish you the best life possible.
Ivy.
"Oh my God!" I gasp.
"What does it say?" Mark drops his cup and looks at me, panic burning in his eyes.
"Mark..."
"Reva what does it say?"
"Maybe you should read it yourself." I give Mark the letter.
"Oh shit." He says after some seconds. "Reva, this
is..."
"How could he lie to me all my life? Why? What's his reason? Did he kill Gina because she found out? Mark what is this?"
"I don't know. I don't even know what to say."
"I'm going to talk to him. I'm going to confront
him."
"Reva, I don't think that's a good idea. We are not
sure if he doesn't have a hand in Gina's death. You
could be confronting someone who is capable of murder."
"Mark I don't care. I have to talk to him. I just have to talk to him."
"Okay. But I'm going with you. I have to make sure that you'll be safe."
