Waking up was the hardest it has been in a while, since the early weeks after my mum passed, I haven't had any trouble waking up but today was different and it wasn't from hurt or any pain, I just didn't want to wake up for good reasons, I was having the best dream ever, I was a super star in my dream, I was the life of the party in my dream and everyone was cheering me on and taking pictures and videos and I was simply having fun, nobody was laughing the kind of laugh that didn't mean they were nice people, nobody was being mean and it was the first time since I was a child that I was truly happy being in the company of other people and not wondering what they thought about me but then somehow I woke up from that pleasing dream back to reality and boy I was shocked to see that I wasn't in my room and to top it off I couldn't really remember where I was, how I got here or what even happened before that.

Last thing I remember is being at the party with Lilian and her group of friends and some weird bits of memory, I know at some point I saw Ezra and he looked pretty good and was pretty nice too and we talked and danced and laughed, I actually had a good time with Ezra and then Lilian came and stole me away and the rest of it is very whoozy. First things first, I need to find out where I am; swinging my legs out from under the thick duvet, I sit up on the edge of the bed and try to steady my spinning head, there's a door that looks like it should lead to a toilet so I make my way over there and just as I hoped it's a small toilet, I wash my face in the sink and rinse my mouth with some water and just decide to dunk my whole head under the tap and pour water over my head, the cold water actually makes the lightheaded feeling go away to some extent and I actually feel better and can walk without staggering. Coming back to the room, I take a good look at where I must have spent the night, looking at the bedside table I don't need to worry much, I'm in Lilian's room, judging by the picture of what must be a 12year old L and her family.

In that moment, it's like all my other senses wake, cause then I start to hear the sounds coming from downstairs and through the window I can see a couple of L's friends out in the yard by the pool, L's house is just like mine well dad's, pretty much same modeling and architecture, making sure that I'm at least presentable in what must be L's super large Tee that covers me right to the mid thigh, I make my way downstairs, I can hear them even louder now, "Debby's still sleeping? Yoo I bet you she had the most fun last night" I hear Jace say, I think, I'm not sure I've known him long enough to be sure that's his voice, I smile at his comment though because hell yes, last night was super fun, I don't remember most of it but I know I had fun cause why else would I wake up feeling like the personification of a hangover 😵 I'm pretty sure it was a movie, I mused as I reached the bottom of the stairs and joined the group.

"Hey guys" I say with a smile that said I was happy and tired, "Heyyyy, girl you've been out all day" Lilian says and everybody else says their hi back over each other "how long have I been sleeping? What's the time?" I ask "you've been out for a long while hun, it's like 3pm" Grace answers "whatttt??" Now I'm fully awake, all my senses alive, "3pm?! Did I die??" I actually ask alarmed and everybody laughs at that, it sounds like sarcasm but for real, it's way beyond mid day and I'm not sure I even mentioned that I wouldn't be coming back home, I'm this close to panicking "relax, I called your dad to let him know you were staying over at mine and was asleep already when you were busy twerking for the whole to see you" Lilian says with a laugh and the group joined too, it wasn't the full group in here, just L, Grace, Jace and Landon who happened to be in a very intimate position with Grace, I didn't notice anything between them last night funny enough, and then It hit me what Lilian said, relief flooded through me once she said she spoke to my dad of course but the other part of the sentence sounded like a scene from my dream, "what did you say? I was twerking in public?" I asked again, taking a sit to steady my head.

"Yes dear, you were all over the place last night actually, turned into a mini celebrity in a space of three hours, we were all together, we smoked a couple of joints, passed it to you only a few times, next thing you were out on your way talking to Ezra from work, which looked really cool, and then I figured you were spending too much time with your supposed work nemesis so I got you back to the group and then we smoked some more and you carried on talking to some other people, dancing a little, laughing here and there and then bam, it happened so fast you were doing dares with a bunch of others and you didn't turn down any dare and it was so much fun actually, life of the party energy, you sang, rapped, danced and then next thing we all know you were full on performing, putting on a show and everyone was watching, recording even and you took it to the ass wing girl, you twerked your beautiful ass, I'm sure you made some boys spill right there cause you looked so hot and you just didn't stop until you stopped and do you know how you stopped? You dived into the pool and everyone followed, it was epic like watching some cliche high school party but girl it was real and happening right at our own party, nobody even thought of the hosts, sure they made their money but usually at their parties they were the life of the party but at this party my friend, you were" Lilian narrated and everyone either laughed or acknowledged her story by nodding their heads in agreement and making contributing comments "dear Lord, I thought that was all a dream" I said out loud, if I wasn't already sitting I'm sure I'd have fallen.

"Wait, you don't remember?" Landon asked amused by my facial expression I'm sure, he creeped me out a bit, had the look of someone who might actually consider bullying me but of course I didn't let that he creeped me out show, "no I don't remember" I said and they all just gave me this mundane look until Grace broke it, "don't worry it wasn't anything, we just imagined it was your scene and that was the type of thing you were into" she explained, "I mean everybody loved you and you seemed so into the attention, it felt pretty much natural" she continued "did I do anything stupid?" I asked my vision a little blurry from threatening tears "asides from twerking, everything else was just fun to see, not gonna lie" Jace said from his corner "and even the twerking is subjective, if you don't mind then there's nothing wrong with it, just that you might be up on everyone's Instagram for months to come" he explained "so this is never going to go away?" I asked a little disturbed "not in a long while, no" Landon answered.

"But on the bright side, you're like a celebrity now, everybody knows you and it would be so cool when school starts, they all gonna know that you're some superstar in the making, because edit real sis, you sing like Beyoncé got nothing on you and you dance like Shakira was your tutor which is an amazing combination for a successful music career" Lilian said getting way ahead of everybody else with her thoughts "okay slow down L, baby steps alright" I said to her and everybody laughed releasing all the tension I felt "okay, just saying when you're ready I'll be glad to manage you" she added.

"Boy, I'm starving...Where's your family by the way? Why do we have the house to ourself" I asked Lilian as we made our way to the kitchen leaving the one half of the group "travelled for the summer but I'm sort of grounded and have to spend the summer working at the beach" she replied "I thought you weee doing that just for the extra cash?" I asked puzzled "yeah extra cash, that too" she answered and she whipped eggs together getting ready to make some pancakes. "Don't think too much about it Debs, I can assure you, you had the most fun yesterday and it was nice to see you that way" she said with a heartwarming smile.

So Debby unleashed a part of her she thought only possible in her dreams at an actual party in this new town she moved to. What more is Debby going to do this summer in order to live her dream and break out of her shell, I hope she falls in love while at it 🫶 you hope so too, right?
