DEBBY'S POV

My sister's party is tomorrow, I hadn't been looking forward to it earlier but now I am. Everyone at work talks about it, all the waterway teen staff are quite excited, I even got Lilian a free ticket; surprisingly Dora let me have two tickets. We still don't talk much, don't worry but we are pretty civil and I don't think there's any hostility, dad is well just dad, hardly around but tries to make small talk about my summer and working at waterway anytime he is around. It's going to be a week of working with Ezra by tomorrow and it has been just okay actually, he seems to really want to keep his word of not being a pain in my ass and is really just okay.

I haven't entirely decided if I love this town yet but so far I've lived like a normal person, I can't exactly judge though cause I still have the entire high school to meet but with everyone I've met while working at waterway, it doesn't look like I'll have to go through any similar ordeal to what st. Ives put me through and for that I am really glad, being able to escape the bullying, judging eyes, obvious insults and pitiful looks is truly my biggest blessing this year, I don't know what it is but thanks mom for looking out for me.

Lilian has been pretty great and we are sort of best friends, well it's only a couple of days don't mind me but really she's like my only friend and automatically my best friend. We are using our lunch break and taking an extension to head to the mall, she says we have to get something cute for the party and since I've never been to a high school party not to mention a water park party, I'm letting Lilian lead the way even if I'm driving. I want to live this summer and I can't live if I let myself hide and being able to actually focus on things and me without the nagging voices from school to cluster my mind, I really look forward to being accepted.

"Okay we made it just in time, we still have 20 minutes to spare, so we can quickly dash in the SXD store and get what we need" Lilian says as we get out from the car and make our way towards the stores; "isn't SXD a store that just deals with denim fashion?" I ask confused since we're getting fits for the water park not a concert, "girlll, where do you live again? SXD handles all type of fashion, of course her signature is the denim but you can get anything, especially anything with bad and boujie still classy from SXD" she says sounding so sure "okay, now you sound like such an SXD fan girl" I tease "oh trust me, I ammm" I laugh at that and we make our way into the first SXD store. Lilian was absolutely right about Sushi and Denims because yesss we found just the cutest fits for the party in almost no time, we both went for some cute mini onesies, I don't know what those are called but the patterns are just perfect, we were almost matching, I definitely don't mind twinning with Lilian so it's all good, I got my fit in baby blue and Lilian got hers in green which is her favorite color, I'm pretty shy about how short the fit is though, Lilian seems to thinks it looks great on me but yeah I think it shows too much skin, my legs are gonna be out on display "that's not such a bad thing, not even a bad thing at all" was Lilian's response when I whined about it, well if she thinks I can pull it off, I guess it's bad bitch season then.
With 5 minutes left, we grab lunch at the food court, fries, burger and a milkshake; no time to dally. Lunch is quick since we'd obviously make it back to work after our break time is past, Lilian drives us back to the beach this time, quick ride and 10minutes late. "See you later L, gotta check on whatever work the boss would've left" I say to Lilian as I swing to my office referring to Ezra as the boss; "who? You mean Ez? You're calling him the boss now, pretty funny" she responds with a chuckle "see you later anyhoo, gotta switch with the lifeguard on duty and take over" "byeee" I yell from my office door "byeee and before I forget, don't call me L!" Lilian yells back "I like L!" I yell again and enter, closing the door behind me so I don't get to hear her retort.

"You're late!" Ezra doesn't even give me time to breathe normally after the yelling match with Lilian, short yes but still a yelling match "yes I'm late, sorry tried to beat the traffic but we just couldn't" I reply "what traffic?" He asks giving me this duh look, true, there's hardly any serious traffic but still there could have been traffic today, how would he know. Internally face palming myself, "I couldn't make it in time, sorry" I apologize again. "Whatever there's some filing to do, staff management records that need to sorted out, quite a lot of it, so we'd be working on that for the coming weeks before summer is over and we have to get back to school instead" he explains "oh okay, what do I need to do?" "Just check through the files and sort the staff records into fulltime, part time, summer, fired, working, salary and work rate basically" Ezra gives me directions on my new job description basically "alright boss, anything else?" I ask feigning respect for a superior, with an eyebrow raised with this questioning look on his face, Ezra replies "nothing else, it's my off time so I'll be out of here, see you tomorrow" "it's Sunday, no work remember?" I remind him before he actually heads out "the party" he says matter of factly "oh the party, you're going? Didn't think so" I wonder out loud "of course I'm going, it's summer, why would I miss it even if it's my ex and her friends throwing it" he says I guess there's nothing better to do around here, not like I can complain, this party might just be the most interesting thing to happen to me in all my life so yes I am looking forward to it. "See you at the party Ezra" I say with a smile "I'll count on it" is his response; for someone who was pretty neutral, almost hostile right now as I came in, he really shouldn't be counting on seeing me at the party but what do I know, Ezra is just being Ezra, I guess he wouldn't be him if he didn't have his brooding aura on all the time.
