"How did they take it?" si Ralph yun.

Kausap namin si Reid sa sulok ng café at the hospital's ground floor. We were having our light dinner there. Ayos lang na bumaba si Reid dahil naroon naman ang mga magulang nya at dumalaw uli.

"They were all surprised. Mom and Sarah cried. Of course, we were talking about Hope, Andie's abduction and Bernie's murder," Si Reid.

I can see a little relief in his aura. At least, he was able to tell his family last night about that puzzle we all have been trying to solve for almost five years. Though, andun pa rin ang takot. I understand him. Both Ralph and I knew why. Hindi nya pa nasasabi kay Andie.

We helped him figure things out nung nasa ospital kami. Reid has to go to the ICU with his parents to check on Hope when Aris Kho arrived. Sinadya naming magpaiwan ni Ralph sa hospital room ni Andie. All clues became available when Kho spoke to Andie to defend himself about the fight he had with Reid leading Hope to her heart attack on the day of her birthday party. Clues lead to more information and evidences.

I cleared my throat, "Reid, how about Jun? Ano'ng sabi nya?"

"She wasn't talking at first. She was flushed with anger. But we were okay now. She understood my side. I didn't expect that Jun..." bahagyang nanginig ang boses nito. "that Jun would easily forgive what I did. I didn't expect the depth of her thoughts and way of thinking. And her reasoning. She... she surprised me with her wisdom."

Nakahinga ako ng maluwag. Ayoko ng dagdag na kumplikasyon para sa kaibigan ko. Isa pa, hindi makakabuti sa akin kung may pader sa pagitan nila ni Juno.

"But she wanted me to tell Drew, soon. She promised to keep her mum. And Jun is right. It's on me," Reid said.

"Nasa villa pa ba sya?"

"No, umuwi na sa Cavite kagabi rin. May pasok sya sa school at OJT. Why?"

Umiling lang ako. Last night, I tried to stay away from her Facebook. I wanted to help Reid first.

"What's going on with the two of you?" tanong uli ni Reid.

Frustrated akong napasuklay ng palad sa buhok, "Ewan ko. Magulo."

It was Ralph who told Reid.

"You giving up now, Rob?" si Reid.

"Hell no! I just said she's being difficult...maybe on purpose. I don't know. Mas kumplikado syang di hamak kay Tamara."

Tinapik ako ni Ralph sa balikat, "Hey, chew it up! That's what you get for getting involve with a woman."

"Fuck off, Marquez!" Sabay pa naming sabi sa kanya ni Reid.

"Tangna ka, Ralph! Kapag nakahanap ka ng katapat mo, tingnan ko kung umubra yang pagiging abogado mo," sabi ko.

Tumawa lang ito.

After that, dumiretso ako sa Cavite. Hoping na makita at magkausap kami ni Juno.

Dumating ako doon ng past nine ng gabi. Sarado pa ang duplex. Balak ko sanang pumasok na lang at sorpresahin sya. But I changed my mind. With the current situation we have now, baka lalong magulo.

I waited in my car while checking some emails for work on my cp.

Tiningnan ko ang oras. Ten fifteen.

Bakit wala pa rin sya?

Ten fifteen became eleven thirty.

I started getting worried lalo na nung offline sya sa messenger at di nya sinasagot ang cp nya. Not even replying to my pm and text message.

Juno, asan ka ba?

Hindi ako nakatiis, I called Troy.

It took four rings before he picked up at ang bungad nya agad, "She's with me, if that's why you're calling."

Umigting agad ang pagkakalapat ng panga ko.

"Saan kayo?"

"Bakit ko sasabihin sa 'yo? Sino ka ba?" I sense contempt in his voice.

Lalo akong napikon. Wala kasi akong maisagot sa tanong nya.

"I want to talk to her," I said instead.

"She's asleep and drunk."

"Bobo ka ba, Benavidez?!" Biglang sumulak ang asar sa akin di lang sa nalaman kong naroroon ito ngayon kay Troy at lasing. "Maaga ang pasok ni Jun bukas."

"So? It was her choice. And she needed it."

"Gago ka nga! She drives a fucking racing motorcycle. Kahit nakatulog na sya, malamang hilo yan bukas! Stupid moron!"

Tinapos ko ang tawag.

Then called Jack, "Send me the address of Troy Benavidez, including the coordinates."

Halos pasigaw yun. Naiingayan ako sa background nya. Mukhang naglalaro ito ng online games habang nakikinig ng rock music. Ang mga trip nito sa buhay!

"That's one of your girl's best buddies. Why?" tanong nito. Hininaan nito ang maingay nyang music. At narinig ko na nagtitipa na ito. Tapos biglang napamura.

"Tangnang ... paano ako napatay nun?!" 

"Just fucking do it! Mamaya na yang kalaban mo sa laro mo! Puta naman!"

The jerk just chuckled.

"Hhmmm... they're not in his house or condo, boss."

"How d'you know? At saan?"

"Well, both their phones are pinging somewhere in Pasay. Uhm... wait... there. They're in a hotel," at natatawang sinabi ang pangalan.

"Fuck! Fuck!"

Ni hindi ko na nagawang magpaalam kay Jack. Pinaharurot ko na agad ang kotse ko papunta sa Pasay. Though Jack sent me the room where they were staying.

Tangina! Iisang kuwarto?!?!

Sinabihan ko ang valet na aalis agad ako. Binigyan ko ito ng malaking tip para sa basement i-park ang kotse ko at yung malapit lang sa elevator.

Umakyat agad ako papunta sa kuwartong tinitigilan ni Troy at Juno.

Mabuti at napigilan ko ang sarili ko na gibain yung pinto.

I wanted punch Troy's face when he opened the door shirtless. Lucky him that I immediately smelled vomit coming from the room. My eyes went to his other hand holding a damp towel... soiled with food?

Tsk!

"What the fuck?!" was the only thing he said when I brushed him aside and went straight the room.

The room only has one queen size bed, with Juno lying on the side, where her vomit is somewhat scattered.

Nilingon ko si Troy. He shrugged his shoulders, "I'm cleaning up her mess. You should know it when she's drunk."

"That's why I came," badtrip kong sagot. Di ko alam kung kanino o saan ako naba-badtrip.

At lalo akong nainis nung lumuhod si Troy para ituloy ang paglilinis ng suka ni Juno.

Is this how special he treats her? No strings attached? Or maybe later, he'd take off her clothes to clean her up, like I always do, and voila! Happy hours!

Or this is that moment he was waiting since Paul is not around. Because if both of them were here, at least they could check and balance each other's actions while this stupid woman is asleep and drunk?

"What?!" Gulat na napatingala sa akin si Troy.

"I said get out. I'll fix that mess and clean her up," kunot noo kong sabi.

Napatitig ito sa akin na parang di makapaniwala at parang natatawa. Pero tumayo ito.

"I paid for our room. You can't order me around to go out. But if you want to clean here, be my guest."

Tumayo na ito at pumasok sa CR. Iniwan yung towel na panlinis nya sa sahig.

Saktong papalabas sya doon na nakahilamos na, nung papasok naman ako para banlawan yung towel.

Nakaupo lang ito sa may couch malapit sa kama pagbalik ko. Alam kong pinapanood nya ako. Wala akong pake!

I was just done cleaning up the floor nung biglang tumagilid si Juno at sumuka uli.

"Damn!" I muttered.

When Troy stood up moving towards Jun, I shot him a deadly stare.

"Don't move a muscle or else I'll break your bones," banta ko.

Napapailing na umatras ito na nakataas ang dalawang kamay na tila pagsuko.

I sat beside the bed at hinimas ko ang likod nito.

Then Juno started sobbing and murmuring incoherently, but her eyes are still closed.

She was totally wasted.

"What happened to her? Bakit sya naglasing on a weekday?" Lingon ko kay Troy nung kumalma uli ang babae sa pagtulog.

"You tell me."

"Imposibleng wala syang sinabi sa iyo ... sa inyo ni Paul," sarkastiko kong sagot.

Hindi nagsalita si Troy. He just looked at Jun full of tenderness.

Napabuga ako ng hangin, "Her niece and her sister are in the hospital. And I guess you know why."

"Yes, she told me that. That's one reason."

"So, there's another?"

Tumingin lang sya sa akin ng diretso.

He knows something pero mukhang wala akong mapapala sa kanya. His loyalty to this woman in my arms is unbreakable. I guess that would be among the three of them.

How I love to break his face! But I can't. Jun will definitely kick my ass once she gets sober!

So nilinis ko na lang uli ang suka ni Juno.

"Where are her things?"

Itinuro ni Troy. "Why?"

"Iuuwi ko sya sa duplex. Kailangan nyang mapalitan ng damit."

Napamulagat ito sa sinabi ko. "Gago ka ba?"

"Siguro. Pero sigurado akong alam mo na hindi ito ang unang beses na binihisan ko si Juno sa parehong sitwasyon. Not even the second."

Nakatingin ito sa akin na tila nag-iisip kung hahayaan nya ang babae sa akin.

"I'm not asking for your permission. I'm just telling you what I will do," kinuha ko na ang gamit ni Jun tapos binuhat ito.

Hindi na nagsalita si Troy. Tumayo na rin ito at nagbihis.

"You're not coming with us," pagpapauna ko na.

"I'm checking out, moron," he sneered. "The only reason I took this room is her. I can't sleep here with the smell of her vomit reeking in here."

Sya na rin ang nagbukas ng pinto para makalabas kami ng maayos. Sumama si Troy hanggang sa basement.

Napataas ang kilay nito nung makita ang sasakyan ko. "You sure it's fine if she trashes your Audi once she gets another round on your way?"

"So what? I can always have a carwash," pabalewala kong sabi as I deposited Jun on the shotgun.

"Nasa bag ang susi ng duplex nya," sabi nito pagtayo ko ng diretso. Then he held the passenger door open.

"Lucky girl," I heard him whispered as he bent over to kiss her forehead. "Ito ang susi ni Augie. Papa'no mo iuuwi yun?"

"That's my problem," ako na ang nagsara ng pinto sa side ni Juno after I took the key from his hand. Nabubwisit ako na kailangan nya pang halikan ang babae.

Nilinisan at hinubad ko agad ang damit ni Jun pag-akyat sa kuwarto nya. Hindi na ako nahirapang bihisan sya ng isang malaking tshirt mula sa cabinet nya. Tulug na tulog na ito.

Then my phone vibrated. It was text message from Jack.

So, you got her. Did you leave the best friend bleeding? Haha!

Naasar ako. Tarantadong ito! Ini-stalk pa kami gamit ang technology ng agency. I replied.

Fuck off!

Mabilis itong sumagot: 

Haha! Ayos lang kahit di ka pumasok bukas. You own the company, anyway.

Pinatay ko na ang cp ko. I took off my clothes leaving only my boxers. Then nahiga na 'ko sa tabi ni Juno.

Nahulog ako sa pag-iisip.

Alam kong lihim na dinamdam ni Juno ang nangyari sa kapatid. Pero sabi ni Reid, ayos na sila. Na maluwag na pinatawad nito ang kaibigan ko.

Siguro, piniproblema pa rin ni Juno ang mangyayari kapag nalaman na ni Andie ang totoo tungkol sa ama ni Hope.

Maaring natatakot ito para sa magandang pagsasamahan ng kapatid, ng pamangkin at ni Reid. Kasi si Hope, masama pa rin ang loob sa inaakalang 'ama'. Nakita ko kung paano hindi kausapin ng bata si Reid. Nawala na talaga yung lambing. Mas kinakausap pa nga si Aris, gayong nakita nilang lahat na ang dalawa ang nag-away.

Sa batang edad nito, lumabas agad ang pagiging maramdamin. Gaya ng ina, pati na rin ni Juno.

Pero napapag-isip ako sa sinabi ni Troy. Na parang ako ang isang dahilan kung bakit nagkaganito si Juno. Sa pagkakaalam ko, weekends lang umiinom si Juno at kapag talagang wala itong gagawin sa susunod na araw.

I set my alarm at seven in the morning. By eight, nakaluto na ako ng breakfast namin ni Juno at nakaligo na ako bago umakyat para gisingin ito.

I was surprised na nakaupo na ito sa kama at parang nagtataka kung bakit nasa kwarto nya sya.

I cleared my throat, "I brought you home."

Nagulat ito na napatingin sa akin sa may pinto. Biglang kinipit yung kumot paakyat sa dibdib nya.

"Nasa'n si Troy?"

Umasim ang mukha ko, "I left him at the hotel where I found you puking your guts out."

"Sinaktan mo?" Mas tunog akusa yun kesa tanong.

"Would love to...but no. He was starting cleaning up your mess when I got there. I finished it up. Then he followed us in the basement parking where my car was parked."

"Binigay nya 'ko sa 'yo?" Parang di ito makapaniwala sa narinig.

"Yes, or else he'd be dead before we left."

Tiningnan ako nito ng matalim. Tapos di na uli nagsalita.

I inhaled, "Jun, common, let's eat. Breakfast is ready. Mas pasok ka pa sa school. Hihintayin kita sa baba."

Walang imik itong tumayo at pumasok sa banyo kaya bumaba na ako.

Nakaligo at nakabihis na ito pamasok sa school nung bumaba. She didn't even take long. Less than thirty minutes.

We ate in silence. Mamaya ko na lang sya tatanungin. Baka topakin ito at hindi pa mag-agahan.

"Hatid kita sa Charleston," I told her as we headed for the door.

"Nasa'n motor ko?"

"Kukunin ko mamaya sa hotel."

Ako ang bumasag ng katahimikan nung nasa kotse na kami, "Jun, may problema ka ba?"

Di ito kumibo basta umiling lang.

"I've always known you to drink on weekends, all planned out with clear sched the next day. So what happened? Monday lang kahapon. May pasok ka ng umaga pa lang ngayon."

Di pa rin ito kumibo.

Di ko ugaling mamilit sa ayaw magsalita unless it is a suspect under investigation. And I'm a patient man, dala na rin ng trabaho ko. Pero parang nababalewala iyun kay Juno. Nauumpisahan kong mainis agad.

"Jun..."

Walang salita galing sa kanya.

At the next intersection, nag-U-turn ako.

"Anong—" gulat nyang sabi. "Bababa ako!"

"You're not getting out of my car until you talk to me, Juno!"

Pabalik na kami sa duplex.

"Fine. Isang araw lang naman akong absent. Kailangan ko rin magpahinga. Nahihilo pa ako," nang-aasar na sabi nya nung huminto ako sa tapat ng duplex.

Saglit ko syang tiningnan, "I'll lock us in your house until you talk."

"Paksyet ka pa—"

Napahinto sya sa pagsasalita nung tapunan ko sya ng matalim at malamig na tingin. 

Good.

Kusa itong bumaba ng Audi nung i-unlock ko yung pinto. Nagdadabog sa pagbubukas ng gate.

Papasok pa lang ako sa gate, narinig ko na ang malakas na pagsara ng front door. Tss.

And as expected, naka-lock na iyon. Topakin talaga!

Ano pa nga bang aasahan ko? Yung ngang walang espirito ng alak sa katawan nito, ang sungit na. Ano pa yung may hang over sya?

I picked the lock, pero nakasara rin yung boltlock. Tss. The only way to get in through here from the outside is break the damn door!

Umikot ako sa kabilang side, dun sa tapat ng ng kuwartong maliit sa second floor. I started climbing the wall to the second floor.

I got in quietly. Paglabas ko sa kuwarto, naririnig ko na may kaaway si Juno sa phone.

"Bakit mo kasi 'ko binigay ke Rob?!" Mataas ang boses nito. "At si Augie? Dios mio, Troy! Ang motor ko!"

"...Nasa kanya pa rin ang susi ni Augie...wala, na kay Kuya Reid pa rin yung duplicate...nag-U turn kami pabalik sa bahay...di ako makaalis nasa labas lang ang ungas..."

Napangiwi ako sa ginamit nyang pantukoy sa 'kin.

"...tarantado ka! Walang nakakatawa! Pinagbantaan nga ako...di daw ako makakapasok hangga't di 'ko sinasabi...GAGO! 'Thunderbolt' mo mukha mo! Pak yu ka Troy!"

I don't like how their conversation is going to that 'thunderbolt' thing. Too private a talk between a guy and a woman.

I cleared my throat. Napatingin ito sa akin sa may pinto ng kuwarto nya.

"...tawagan uli kita. Me surot na nakapasok sa bahay ko!"

Sabay baling sa 'kin, "Lumabas ka nga ng bahay ko!"

Instead, I stepped inside, closed the door and leaned on it.

"You know what, Jun. I might consider that 'thunderbolt'. Baka sakaling magsalita ka na at umamo sa akin kapag may nangyari na sa atin."

Nanlaki ang mga mata nya tapos namula ang mukha.

"You think I wouldn't get your codes with your 'sentinels'?" gagad ko sa salitang yun.

Napaatras agad ito nung tumayo ako ng diretso, "Ta'namo, Rob! Subukan mo!"

"Okay," simple kong sabi then walked fast towards her.

"Ano'ng—"

She immediately made her fighting stance as I approached her. I expected that.

Gusto kong matawa. Ito yata yung sinabi dati ni Troy na cariño brutal!

She didn't attack first gaya nung ginawa nya sa El Nido. She's on the defense this time. Waiting for me to make a move so she'd counter. Waiting for me to make a mistake.

"Jun, your room is small. We will trash the place if we do this. Isa pa, nasa alanganing pwesto ka. You have very minimal space to make a move."

Nakatayo kasi ito sa gilid ng kama nya. Dingding sa likod at cabinet sa kabilang side. Na isang dipa lang ang espasyo.

"LAKOMPAKE!"

Galit nga sa akin. Napailing na lang ako.

I released a heavy sigh tapos naupo sa gilid ng kama nya. Just an arm length away from her.

Tinukod ko ang dalawang siko sa tuhod at sinapo ang ulo sa dalawang palad ko, "I just want us to talk."

"Wala akong sasabihin."

"Meron, Jun. The way you behave and based on what I heard sa pag-uusap nyo ni Troy, meron. I just don't know what. You're putting me in a position where I couldn't even defend myself," frustrated kong sabi.

In my peripheral, she relaxed. Nakatayo na lang sya, "Ganito lang talaga ako."

"Hindi ka ganyan, Jun. Something came up."

She started fidgeting. I knew it. She's really a bad liar. Maybe she noticed that I saw her so she crossed her arms on her chest.

That's was what I was waiting. She will have limited movement.

"Akala ko...akala ko..." di nya natapos angsasabihin dahil nilapit ko na ang mukha ko sa kanya.

"Akala mo ano?"

Umiling lang sya tapos nag-iwas ng mukha.
