      Inayat's POV

The door flung wide open and the sight of my new roommate before me was nice.
She was wearing a black plain Abaya and a red veil wrapped beautifully around her head exposing a little view of her permed hair. I didnt like the idea but she still looked so beautiful Ma Sha Allah I thought. Several nylons were attached to her hands indicating she was from the market.

"Welcome back, hope it wasn't stressful. I see you are the second occupant, Nice to meet you I am the first occupant my name is Inayat Yusuf."  I smiled.

Thank you.... She casually answered as she left for her side of the room.

Well, that didn't go as planned... I thought. But it's alright, this is just the first day anyway. I have a good feeling we would soon get to know each other pretty well. I assured myself.

Wait, did she even say salaam before entering??? My subconscious asked.

Well, maybe she did, maybe she didn't. But it doesn't really matter anymore. I sighed as I laied back on the bed thinking of what my next line of action would be. I arrived and did my clearance early this morning, I also got my foodstuffs and needed items.

I am really bored without Sabeerah. She had called me this morning saying she was already in Zaria but at her family house at Emantos. But she would be here later to see how I am doing as she hasn't moved to the hostel yet. Silly girl likes to spend sometime at her family house before moving to the hostel.

I checked the time and it was 3:50 already. Almost time for Asr prayer I breathed. I waited for the call to prayer and stood to perform Ablution immediately it was called.

My thought about Sabeerah had made me forgotten I was now with a roommate and as I turned to come down I sighted her already sleeping with her things arranged firmly.

I should wake her for salat I concluded as I went over to her.
My Dad had told me it is rewardable to remind people of salats.

Sister! Sister!! Sister!!! I called out as she let open her eyes.
Sister as we normally called ladies whose name are unknown to us here in the Northern part of Nigeria.
Besides, we muslimahs are sisters in Islam to one another.

She let open her eyes and gave me a killer stare. "I really don't like it when my sleep is disturbed, but I would spare you this time since you are new to me. She hissed with anger as she turned to the other side and continued from where I had cut her.

Subhanallah! What have I done wrong?? I thought but didn't utter a word as I just stood there suprised. This is the first time I am encountering such an incident.

Or could she be a non-muslim? I asked within me.
Non-Muslims are those who don't believe that there is only one God named Allah(Subhanahu watahala) and that the Prophet Muhammad Ra'sulula (sallalahu Alaiyhi wasalam) is his last messenger.

I slowly left for downstairs as I kept thinking about where I had gone wrong. I guess she was part of those who didn't like being disturbed whilst sleeping. My bad though, maybe I should have just left her the way she was.
Well, the deed has been done. I concluded as I reached downstairs.

It looked so dry and scanty as school just resumed and activities were just getting started. I went straight to the tap point, turned it on and began performing my Ablution not without muttering a Bissmillah(In the name of Allah).

After having finished, I went back to my room and found my roommate still sleeping. She must really be tired I sighed as I took my prayer mat and prayed Asr.

Just as I said my salaams and started my sublications, A familiar voice cuts me off as she said; Assalamualaikum sister, please is this Inayat Yusuf's room?.  It was from Sabeerah.

No,it is Sabeerah Ahmad's room.... I teased with laughter as I turned to face her.

Wa'alaikumu Salaam.... I answered as she made her way in and grabbed me warmly by my waist.

I have missed you inny.... She pouted as she held me.

C'mon now don't be a cry baby.... I have to round up my prayers. I smiled as I withdrew her hands from my waist.

Okay fine, where is your bed?? She asked as I pointed at my space up.

Up bunk huh?? She cheered as she made her way up.

Shhhhhh keep it down, my roommate doesn't like to be disturbed while sleeping. I said as I held a finger over my lips indicating for her to keep quiet.

Whatever!!.... She shouted back at me as we both chuckled silently.

Few minutes later, I was done with my sublications and went up to meet my bestie in order to catch up things.

So how was your journey??? I asked.

It was fine Alhamdulilah. My elder brother drove us here, so it was a rough ride I guess. You know how he drives now. She answered.

Totally understand. Sabeerah's elder brother loves to drift for fun. He is always drifting around fields, stadium and all that I think it's already an habit for him to always speed race.

Anyways, Alhamdulilah you arrived safely I added.

What to do babes? I am bored, Cheer me up. I cried.

Okay, so what hizb are you now in your Quranic memorization? She queried.

45 hizb mallama, I proudly answered.
Just like the way Mubarakah was my mini teacher at home, Sabeerah was always my mini teacher here in school.

Waw, Ma Sha Allah sis, I am so proud of you, she cheered as we fist bumped.

Shukran ukthi (Thank you sis). I smiled back.

So, what do we do next? She asked.

Well as for me, It's 4:30pm already so I guess I just have to continue watching episode 6 of memorist (Korean drama) I was on this morning.

You and Korean dramas babe, don't you get tired? I hardly watch movies and you know. Just Nickelodeon shows are enough for me. Sabeerah sighed.

And what are those huh? Pictures??? I teased. We are all in the same category sis. Besides, I just love kdramas because they are addictive, there is always this bond connecting you and the drama together. Besides, they act very childish and have very low level of immoralities.

Na'am yes lady, I agree with you. Sabeerah added giving me a smile.

Suddenly, we heard a soft moan come from my roommate and later followed by a yawn. She was awake now.

"Good Afternoon sister", Sabeerah greeted as she opened her eyes and stood up.

"Good Afternoon....." She answered a little bit friendly this time.

Inayat, now that your roommate is awake, why don't we go to the masjid and from there we eat something so I can head for home.
I have had lunch so I don't know about you. Have you? She asked.

No, not yet but I guess I am still filled from what mum fed me this morning. I would just get fresh yo at the cafeteria downstairs. I answered.

Alright then, Let's go she said as we both came down, wore our hijabs and took whatever it was we were going to be needing.

Okay so, my friend and I are going out, see you later. If you need to go out too, here is the key do keep it up outside I said as I pointed towards the direction. Sister?? I asked.

Aa'yat. She answered.

Waw, so she is a Muslimah.... Nice. I thought.

Okay then, Aa'yat I would see you when I come back In Sha Allah okay.

Okay.... Bye she said not sparing me a look as she stood to arrange her bed.

Bye I baded as I closed the door.
