Aa'yat's POV

We were around the sick bay entrance when I saw a familiar face coming from afar.
"Munir"??? My subconscious alarmed.

Didn't he tell me he was a final year student of BUK?...or was I seeing things now. I thought weirdly.

After walking closer enough to the suspected Munir lookalike, Alas! It was him.

I turned my face immediately to the opposite direction as I prayed to Allah not to let him catch even the slightest glimpse of me.

Sadly, Allah had other plans for me.
He knows Junaid. He called out his name and they exchanged pleasantries.

I tried really hard to keep my gaze as far as I could from him and that was when I noticed Inayat. She was obviously hiding from someone too.

It can't be Munir of course, maybe this is her own literal way of lowering her gaze. I thought with my subconscious.

I could pick some few words from the chats they were having and from the looks of things, Munir turned out to be a 300 level engineering student.

Such a liar! How could he have thought of lying to me?? I guess we were both toying with each other as at then. Astagfirullah ilazeem. Doesn't he know telling lies is bad?? I face palmed with my subconscious.

He somehow got a hold that I was Junaid's twin sister and I hastened my steps immediately with Inayat by my side.

Inayat!!! He called out and I was rather confused.
Did he mean Aa'yat????
No, he obviously called out Inayat. I assured.

She on the other hand refused to tend to him and just kept on walking.

Junaid later shooed him away I guess because he stopped following us.

Do you know Munir? I and Junaid queried in our different ways.

She didn't answer rather forwarded the question back to me.

Do you know Munir? She asked.

Yes, he was my ex boyfriend back then. I bluntly answered.

And you?? I asked back yet again.

He was my ex boyfriend too. She squeezed out in distress.

What???? Subhanallah, you gotta be kidding me.

I turned to Junaid and he turned all sweaty at once. It wasn't all physically but I could see it in him. He is my twin brother after all.

      Inayat's POV

He was my ex boyfriend. I managed to say out and Allah knows that if it weren't for the situation I was in, I rather say something else than that.

The worst of it all was that Junaid was there, he was just spaces from me and I don't even know the expression or reaction he is wearing right now. Even though I don't know if he does like me just as Aa'yat confirmed, I was still shy to look at him. I wanted to cover myself in shame.
But whatever Allah has destined must surely come to pass.

Aa'yat stood there not knowing what to say and I on the other hand, just wanted to disappear straight to my room or anywhere, any other place apart from here.

I was expecting the silence to last a while at least till we all departed or better still till I was left with Aa'yat alone, but that wasnt it.

Junaid woke me from my thoughts as he said out; Why don't we go towards life science or any other place silent for a while to sort this out. Or don't you think we should? He turned to Aa'yat.

He just can't look at me. He must be disgusted or rather disappointed at me. Who was I kidding, whatever the case he wouldn't still have looked at me directly. Oh ya Allah, help me please.

Uhmmmm, yes I guess. Inayat what do you think??? Aa'yat in turn asked me.

Na'am, sure. Let us do just that. I managed to say out.

That is nice then.

Sounds good.

Pheeeeew! I exhaled as we made our way to our department.

We got there in no time and sat on a long seat in the rain forest as it was popularly called.

Junaid was silent for a while and so was Aa'yat and of course I wasn't left out.

Won't you say something??? What do you have to say??? Aa'yat turned to Junaid.
At least break this awkward silence. She added.
She was sitting admist us and I loved it that way.

Junaid cleared his throat in search for words and before he could start, I interrupted.

Munir and I dated, but it wasn't more of dating. I finally let out.

Junaid immediately withdrew his attempt to talk and listened to me instead.

What do you mean? Can you explain further? Aa'yat plainly asked.

Na'am I would.

It all happened 5 years ago while we both were in Senior secondary school 3. You could refer to us as finalists as at then.

I was very brainy as at then and also turned out to be one of the best students amongsts my classmates.

You still are brainy. Junaid cuts in and Aa'yat shot him an unfriendly glare.

I am sorry. He pleaded, his hands in the air.

It is nothing. I chuckled back as I continued.

Munir transferred to our school just then and that was how the twist in my life started.
I was always feared to be approached by the opposite sex because of "how rude" I tended to be whenever I was being talked to in ways I didn't like.
I was an Hijabi as at then too and also the Amirah of the MSSN. It was an Islamic school so Alhamdulilah for me.

I always walked with my female friends who were only of positive Impacts on me Academically and spiritually.
I was a no go area to the male guys in my class. Nobody dared to say a word to me.

Munir on the other hand, was the friendly and smily type who loved to talk a lot and hang out with almost everyone. He started by talking to all my close friends before lastly getting to me.

I must admit, I was young as at then and also naive but it wasn't so easy for him to get to me. But as Allah would have it, he had it his way and we started talking. Just as Hy and Hello buddies.

One very day, he messaged me on Whatsapp and that was when he told me he got my contact from one of my friends.
I was supposed to react fiercely but I don't know why I didn't.

We started chatting online and stopped talking physically. We both became shy of each other or at least that was what I thought.

We became much closer to each other "online" and I especially grew fond of him.
He furthered by courageously asking me out during our WAEC days and I accepted after what seemed like days. All happened "online".

Crazy right????

I gave him my terms and conditions since we weren't ready for marriage like: No visiting, chatting physically and obviously with all that, no touching and all. To my surprise he accepted without any excuses and said it was okay with him or better still that was what I thought.

We started our online dating and acted physically like strangers to each other.
It went on like that and we graduated secondary school.

We furthered into our lives as "online couples" even though we had our ups and downs just like any other relationships but we still kept on moving.

Allah wanted it that way and I got into the university before he did. And that was when everything started rumbling. Allah knew I always tried to end the relationship before it got out of hand but I just couldn't. I guess I got too attached to him along the way.

His started ignoring my messages and sadly I wasn't the type to phone call so things went on like that for weeks. We only chatted once in a while. I asked him what was happening and why everything was turning out that way but he said it was nothing. He said he was just scared I would leave him for someone else whilst in school so I just believed what he said.

Subhanallah, we always talked about the future and us getting married . I could remember we even named our unborn kids then😂😂. Because I told him before hand that I am only willing to endulgde into a relationship if the end result is 50% marriage because Allah knows best.

In summary, I noticed and also heard a rumour he was seeing someone else and not only that, he was seeing her at the exact time he was seeing me while we were in secondary school. She was his physical while I was his online as I was being told.

Too bad for me. I always knew something was fishy but I was blinded by his kindness and sweet words. That aside, I was also somewhat planning for my future at such an age.

I confirmed it was true and I was broken, I ended the Haram relationship immediately. I was just about to round up my 100 first semester exams and I had to go through a lot. It really was painful for me to hear and get to know.
I prayed to Allah for days to heal my heart and also promised to try never to deviate from his light again.
And Alhamdulilah, it took a long while but I finally came over it.

I heard a year later from a friend that he got admission into this very school but I didn't even let it bother me, besides I was already over him so it meant nothing. I never encountered or met with him since I wasn't the type to wander around the school so it wasn't a big deal to me.
I changed my number immediately and wandered away from our mutual friends so as to avoid further complications.

I thanked the Almighty that not withstanding the temptations I had to go through while we were dating, I never gave in to him physically.  If not, it would have been an entire different story.
But whether physically or online, I was made to know Haram is Haram.
Astagfirullah for everything I seeked refuge and I moved on with life.

I am just seeing him today after all those years. Ma Sha Allah. I ended my long explanation.

Waw, Ma Sha Allah. Aa'yat commented but Junaid didn't utter any word. He just kept on sighing repeatedly.

That jerk, I met with him on IG while I was in 100 level, and then he told me he was studying in BUK. We met physically on several occasions but that was it too, I wasn't really into him, he wasn't really my style. I broke up with him a few months later. She explained shortly.

Oh, waw that is nice. I faked a smile. But deep down, I was still wondering what was going on in Junaid's head. Oh ya Allah, I already apologized for my past deeds and repented. Don't make it reflect on my present please. I begged in my thoughts.

Inayat! he called out.

Na'am, I answered plainly. While Aa'yat just kept staring.

I have heard all you have said and there is something you need to know. He stated.

I looked at Aa'yat in surprise while she just gave me an "I don't know duhhhh" expression.

Okay then, I better excuse you guys. Aa'yat said as she stood to leave.

No, how would you leave her alone here with me, you both came out together and would leave together. Junaid said out.

Woah, someone is being bossy. Aa'yat joked while I just kept wondering what it was.

Whatever, sit back down. He added as he dragged her back to sit.

Besides, you know all about what I am intending to say so it is better for you to be here for everyone's comfortability. He concluded.

What?? He is going to throw words at me in front of his sister??? This can't be happening.
Oh ya Allah, see me through this phase I am about to enter. I sighed.

I know nothing about you weirdo. Aa'yat fired back while he chuckled and I faked a smile.

Anyways, I am still going to say all tonight In Sha Allah. He cleared his throat as he was about to begin.

See you next time Allah's willing 💕🌹
