          Aa'yat's POV

It's been two weeks now and Habiba and I haven't really said anything to each other since the other day. She hardly even visited, checked up on me or called me for lectures anymore. She even barely attended lectures.

I want to go back to being so close to her but she even seem to not be wanting that.
I don't know how to explain it but I think she has been kind of distant.
Was I the only one expecting her to apologise to me???

Meanwhile, Junaid and I have been hanging out a lot lately and I can tell you this past weeks have being the best weeks of my life.
We mostly sat somewhat close together during lectures, and He always saw me off to my hostel whenever classes ended.
He has been so sweet to me even though whenever I made mention of having a relationship he always declined and threatened to cut ties with me if I back out from my end of the deal.

Today's lecture was on Zool335(Arthropoda and mollusca) and it was almost time. I got dressed and left for the class without even waiting if Habiba would show up or not. Besides, I am getting so used to my new friend or should I call him bestie so there was no point in forcing myself on another.

I entered the class and as usual quickly eye scanned for Junaid. I spotted him sitting close to his friend Mansur as always but in a row filled with his other male friends. They were all chatting and smiling. He quickly spotted me as I just stood admiring his handsome face.

How can someone's son be as cute as a hundred of guys????.....

I waved at him with a smile but his reaction was different. He just took a quick look at me and later continued talking to his friends.
Well,that was cold....
Why the sudden change????
Did I do something wrong????? I thought.

I wanted walking up to them but he shot me a warning glare which made me reconsider my attempt. I found somewhere empty close to some ladies so I just sat there still taken aback by what just happened.

After the class, everyone paired together as we all dashed out. The next class wasn't until an hour to come. So I just sat somewhere outside in wait for Junaid.

Minutes later, He came out alongside Mansur and I stood to meet them.
Junaid! I called but he didn't even turn back. I called out two more consecutive times but he didn't even flinch.
I let out a heavy exhale. I was getting angry.

I walked up to him and he halted.
What is wrong Aa'yat? Why were you calling after me like that? He asked.

Well of course he heard me, he just didn't want to answer.
What did I do wrong? I asked back.

I have to head somewhere fast. Mansur told him as he excused himself.

He pointed at somewhere gestured me to follow which I did. It was somewhere away from the crowds. We got to were I thought was convinient then I started.

Why have you been avoiding me Junaid?

And why wouldn't I? He queried.

But I didn't do anything wrong... Did I? I questioned.

Don't act all dumb Aa'yat... You are still doing what I cautioned you against. He calmly said.

Have you even started observing salats as promised?
You promised to change but look at you Aa'yat... His tone laced with disappointment.

I am trying to Junaid, but it is not as easy as it sounds.

Okay fine, look at this, you are wearing an Abaya. Fine, Ma Sha Allah. But take a look. He said as he pointed to my scarf.

"Your hair is half opened". He completed.

Ohwww.... About that uhmmm, I stammered.

Because you want to show us your lengthy hair huh?? Is that it? Don't you know your hair is part of your Awrah???

What is Awrah??? I asked rather confused.

He heaved a sigh before saying; Listen,
In Islam, the word "Awrah" means an intimate and private part of the body which should be covered generously in clothing so as to ward off sex appeal and crudity.

Hair is a controversial item in Islam, because it can be considered part of a woman's "Awrah", and there is an interpretation of the verse of the Qur'an which suggests that hair should be covered.

The "Awrah" of a woman in front of her mahrams such as her father, brother and nephew is her entire body except that which usually appears such as the face, hair, neck, forearms and feet.
Allah says;
"And not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer palms or hands or one eye or dress like veil, gloves, headcover, apron), and to draw their veils all over "Juyoobihinna ( i.e their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms) and to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's father's, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, and lastly, their (muslim) women". Which are their Mahrams.
[al-Noor 24:31]

So Allah has permitted a woman to show her adornment in front of her husband and mahrams. What is meant by adornment is the places where adornments are worn: The place for a ring is the hand, for a bracelet is the fore arm, for an earring is the ear, for a necklace is the neck and chest and for an anklet is the leg.

Waw, OMG! I always knew Anklets weren't Haram but those Abu securities wouldn't let me wear them in peace. Finally, I can start wearing them back in peace. I interrupted with a loud cheer.

Shut it silly!, I didn't say that okay. Would you just let me finish. He answered with a smile as he continued.

"It is forbidden for a woman to wear an ankle bracelet outside of her house if it jingles and produces sounds which non-mahram (those who are Islamically lawful for her to marry) can hear.

Allah says; (And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And repent to Allah, all of you, O believers, that you may be successful). [Qur'an 24:31]
The feet of a woman are part of her Awrah. They should be covered from the sight of all non-mahram men, according to the consensus of all the Muslim Scholar.
On the other hand, a woman is permitted to wear any kind of golden ornament. She can wear a wrist bracelet, an ankle bracelet or any other ornament. She can go out wearing them provided a non mahram doesn't see them and they do not produce sounds.
Allah knows best. He concluded.

Goodness Gracious, How can someone talk so calmly?? He really is rare. Others I have met didn't explain it this way to me, they just rained it all on me. My dressings, my attitude, blah blah blah.

Aa'yat???.... He called out as I woke from my thoughts.

Were you listening??? He queried.

More than listening. Thank you Junaid. I smiled.

For what??? I haven't done anything for you to be thankful for. He smiled as he answered.

You think so huh? Junaid, since my existence, I have never really wanted listening to anybody as much as I always wanted listening to you.
But you keep taking my feelings on a ride. I sighed.

You don't listen to me Aa'yat, look for Instance, you make me repeat my words each and every time. You just are so stubborn. He chuckled.

That is because I always want you to talk to me. I countered and he smiled.

Awww, now this is the smiley face I always want to see. I praised and he stopped smiling immediately.

You said you love listening to me right? He asked and I nodded with a yes.

Then start putting on hijab. He blurted and I can swear I choked on my saliva.

What????? I asked fiercely.

Shhh.... Calm down, bring you voice down. Follow me, I want to enlighten you on something. He answered as he looked around.

Let's check out FSLT if there are empty seats we could sit to talk further about this before  we move to attend the next class.

Look here Hun, it is another thing to tell me about the importance of solats and my hair being my Awrah and all, but to change my dressings, Impossible dude.
Even if my Grandfather were to resurrect, I would not! I stated as we went towards FSLT in search for privacy.

OMG, is Aa'yat going to become an hijabi????

Happy new month (Rabiul Auwal)Ummahs❤️💕.

May Allah (s.w.t) make this a fruitful one for us. Ameen ya rabb 😍.

See you next time Allah's willing❤️💕🌹.
