At the wedding muhurat

Meghna was fully dressed in her red and cream color lehenga choli given by her mother in law. She was sitting in the green room of the wedding hall all alone as all her family membera had gone downstairs to welcome the Baraat. She was not allowed to look at the baraat as it was consisdered bad for the bride to see her baraat but the sound when in it entered the venue didn't miss her ears.

She was struggling with the butterflies in her stomach with every passing second.

And suddenly her heart skipped a beat when her mamas came in to get her for the varmala.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath and started walking towards the door.

Every step she took she could visualise the rising bile inside her throat. She was nervous would be an sheer understatement. She was cold as ice. Just a few step and she would enter into a new life.

Finally she reached the door and she was handed a beautiful garland(varmala) made with red, white roses and green leaves.

Afrer she reached her mamas they all carried her towards the mandap in their arms.

As soon as they entered the hall all the chatter died down all eyes were on Meghna. And she felt self concious for second but then she looked at her parents and the look in their eyes told her that for them she was the most beautiful bride and then she didn't anybody's approval over her looks.

Varmala

Soon they reached the mandap and after taking a round around Aditya with both of their eyes closed, she stood opposite him with a white cotton cloth embedded with a swastik(called as antarpat) between them restricting their view.

After the seven enchantings from the priest the cloth was removed and a loud sound of ulu(sound made by ladies at the time of auspicious occasion by twisting their tongues..popular in weat bengal) made by all the ladies in their families surrounded the hall.

Aditya was lifted up by Sumeet and Rohan and immediately Meghna was also lifted up by her jiju and cousin brother.

Obviously as Aditya was taller than her she couldn't reach him. Aditya winked at her and then he bent down a little and meghna blushed at it and slyly smiled at him and placed the garland around his neck..everybody cheered in excitement and teased Aditya for bending down infront of his bride but Aditya laughed at it and then he followed her suit and placed the varmala around her neck.

After they both got down from their brother's shoulder everybody cheered and congratulated them.

Kanyadaan

And then the priest called Meghna's parents for the Kanyadan.

Meghna stood between her father's arms and then the priest took Aditya's palm and placed Meghna's palm over it and asked meghna father to place the betal leaf and flower over their hand and asked Meghna's mother to slowly shower the holy water over it and with the holy enchantings Meghna became Aditya's better half.

Mangalsutra and sindoor daan

After the kanyadaan Aditya and Meghna sat near the hom (holy fire/agni) and after the holy enchantings priest asked Aditya to place the mangalsutr around meghna's neck and then asked him to fill meghna's mang with sindoor (vermilion).

Meghna smiled when the cold sindoor touched her forehead and a little spilled over her nose. At which her dadi said

"See Aditya loves meghna so much..the one whose sindoor feels on her nose is the lucky one because her husband loves her lot."

Meghna blushed at it and Aditya winked at her.

After that the priest asked them to stand up and asked groom's sister I.e sakshi to come forward and tie the loose end of Aditya and meghna's attire to each other which is called gathbandhan.

Saat phere (saptpadi)

After tying the gathbandan. The priest started the holy enchantings with it Aditya and Meghna walked around the holy fire hand in hand taking it as the prime witness (sakshi) for their 7 vows.

In the first four pheras Aditya walked ahead and they

Both promised each other love and each other's company.

After completing the each phera meghna slowly pushed the supari and rice grains away with her toe for seven times.

Then in the second phera

Both promised to respect each other and their decisions.

Third phera

Both promised to be loyal to each other.

Fourth phera

They promised to accompany each other in good as well as in bad times.

In the next three pheras meghna walked ahead

In the fifth phera

Meghna promised to take of the household.

Aditya promised to earn living for his family.

In the sixth phera

They took a oath to create a loving and caring household.

In the last and seventh phera

Both of them promised to give their offspring, good upbringing and values.

After completing the sath phere.

The priest asked all the brothers of the bride to come forqard and asked the eldeat one to place the toe ring in her toe. After that he asked all of them to shower the puffed rice over Aditya and Meghna's hands in to the holy fire.

After these rituals the priest announced the formal end of the wedding ceremony!!

Then Aditya and Meghma took blessings from all their elders.
