Guys Night Out
In all of the chaos of shooting for "Behind Closed Doors," I had almost forgotten that Grant and I were invited to Vanessa and Alec's wedding. Things were bound to get complicated if we were supposed to be 'broken up'.
Grayson looked at Kyler through the rearview mirror. "Congrats man, it looks like you just got an invite to the wedding."
Kyler's eyes got wide. "I don't know how Aspen's going to feel about that. She's having enough trouble dealing with me kissing other women on live TV, this may put her over the edge."
"Ha! She's the jealous type, isn't she?" Grant smirked and leaned back in the front seat.
I rolled my eyes. "Umm, Grant you're the jealous type."
Grant turned his entire body to face me. "Yeah, but it's cute when I do it."
I reached up and traced his chiseled jawline. "Awww, you're right, you're soooo cute. Adorable really."
Grayson started laughing in the front seat. "Quick, squeeze his cheeks."
"Which ones?" I teased.
"Okay, okay. It's not cute, it's annoying and I'm working on it." Grant sighed.
I leaned up and whispered "I love you" in Grant's ear.
"I heard that." Grayson said, smirking and keeping his eyes on the road.
Grant smiled back at me and mouthed that he loved me too. "Grayson's afraid of love."
Grayson rolled his eyes. "I am not afraid of love."
"I've never even heard you say 'I love you' to your parents." Grant put his feet up on the dash.
Grayson reached over and pushed Grant's feet back on the floor. "Two things. First, I just cleaned this so get your filthy feet off the dash. Second, I don't have to say it, they know."
"Say what exactly Grayson?" I joined in.
Grayson looked back at me and shook his head. "I see why you and Grant are together, pick a side. To be fair I've never heard Grant say he loves his parents either."
"That's because I don't. My parents suck and you know it!" Grant pointed a finger at Grayson.
Grayson shrugged.
"Grant in all the years I've known you I haven't met your parents." I met his eyes.
Grant squinted. "You heard what I just said right?"
"I still want to meet them." I insisted.
Grant noticed Kyler looking back and forth between us, confused. "Poor freaking Kyler, he has no idea what's happening."
Ugh, there Grant goes changing the subject again. I make a mental note to bring this conversation back up with Grant. Now is not the time or place to discuss such things.
"I'm just trying to figure out what I'm going to tell Aspen." Kyler responded with nerves obvious in his voice.
I pulled him into a hug. "It's okay Austin, she loves you. She may not like it but she'll understand."
Kyler hugged me back. "Thanks Patricia."
Grant made a face and mumbled under his breath, "Thanks Patricia."
I kicked his seat. "Control G."
"This your car Kyler?" Grayson asked, pulling over on a side street next to a shiny black BMW.
Kyler reached for the door handle. "Yep, that's it. Thank you."
Grayson smiled. "No problem man. Good luck with the girlfriend."
"Thanks, I'll need all the luck I can get with this one." He opened the door and started to get out.
"I think I'm going to call you Ky. Bye Ky." Grant looked back at Kyler, smirking. I think this was Grant's way of telling Kyler they're good.
Kyler nodded. "Bye Grant."
.....................................................................................................................................................................................
We silently walked into the hotel Grant and Grayson were staying at.
Grant holds the door open for me. Even in his frustration Grant never fails to be a gentleman.
I look up at him and feel myself smiling. I can't believe he's all mine.
Grayson walks in behind me and throws himself dramatically onto the bright blue bed sheets. The room was full of blue accents.
"What a day!" He yawns.
I move my head in agreement. "Welcome to Las Angeles."
Grayson smiles at me. Something about the way his smile takes up his entire face makes me like him. It's like I don't have a choice.
"Do you think you'll stay here?" He raises a dark eyebrow at me.
I shake my head. "Probably not. The lights are gorgeous and there are a ton of possibilities here, but if I get one more referral to a plastic surgeon, I think I might cry."
Grayson stared at me through wide green eyes. "People suggested you get plastic surgery? That's crazy!"
Grant looked at Grayson, communicating something with his eyes that I couldn't decipher. He let out an airy breath then looked away. "Idiots." Grant scuffed.
"I'm going to hop in the shower." Grayson stood up and headed into the bathroom.
I squinted at Grant. "What was that?"
Grant looked me in the eyes. "I'm sorry, I'm trying not to be such a jealous a**hole."
"You were jealous?"
He puts a hand on my face. "You just have no idea how f***ing gorgeous you are."
I reach up and pull his face into mine. I kiss him hard. He puts his arms in the nape of my neck and pulls me deeper into the kiss.
He lifts me up and puts me on the shiny brown bedroom dresser. I instantly get flashbacks of our first time. I feel euphoric and before I know it, I'm moving my hands under his shirt, running my hands up and down his rock hard abs.
I start to lift his shirt, but he carefully places his warm hands on mine, stopping me.
I move my head back, breathless. "I'm sorry." I say softly.
"It's okay, it's just Grayson's in the other room." He runs a hand through my hair.
I nod. "Right. You're right." I sigh. "You make me so reckless."
Grant places his hands on my waist and pulls me in and kisses me again.
"I want to show you something."
I smirk and look him over. "I've already seen it, Grant."
He laughs and shakes his head. "Not that Rinnie, but I like where your mind is going."
He reaches in his pocket and pulls out a shiny black box. "This is for you."
"Grant, what is this for?" I ask, in shock.
"Open it."
My hands shake a little as I nervously open the box. You'd think I'd be used to Grant's constant elaborate surprises, but I still get butterflies every time he does something like this. I don't think I'll ever get used to it.
I gasp as I see the stunning sparkling diamond necklace. I stare at Grant in disbelief. "Grant?! This is beautiful!!! What is this for?"
He smiles, pulling the necklace out of the box and placing it around my neck. "I thought you'd need some new bling to wear to Alec and Vanessa's wedding."
He put his hand on my lower back and guided me to the full-sized mirror near the front entrance of the hotel room. I never thought a necklace could make such a difference, but this necklace made me feel like a whole new person. I felt sophisticated, elegant, classy. I felt confident. It's amazing that a necklace can be so powerful.
I grab Grant's hands and look him in the eyes. "Thank you."
He smiles. "You don't have to thank me. I spoil you because I want to, I don't do it for a thank you. I do it for that look on your face." He moves a piece of hair behind my ear. "You haven't even seen it all yet."
I squint at him. "What more could there be?"
He unclasps the necklace and flips it over, showing the engraving, I love you more, G.
I hold the necklace tightly to my heart. "You're incredible! I love it! I love you."
"I love you more." He moves in and kisses my cheek.
"No, I love you more!" Grayson walks out mimicking Grant.
Grant laughs into my ear, sending shivers down my spine. "I don't remember why I decided to bring you and not make you get your own room."
I'm caught off guard when I finally look at Grayson. He is standing with his arms crossed in nothing but a towel. He's insanely built and looks like something out of a magazine. I quickly turn to avert my gaze.
"Careful or I'm going to throw this towel at you." Grayson jokes.
Grant covers my eyes with his hands. "I wouldn't unless you intend on cleaning up vomit."
Grayson laughs. "I'm going out. You guys in?"
"I'm not much of a partier but thank you for inviting me." I grin politely at him.
Grant pulls me into him. "Yeah, no offense Gray but she's a lot prettier than you. I think I'll stay with her."
"Come on G. We never hang out anymore! When was the last time you even went out?" Grayson pleads.
Grant shrugs. "I don't know, awhile but who cares?"
"Grant Thad Goldsworhty!" Grayson yells.
Grant looks at him, unamused. "Stop being so needy."
"Fine, make out with your pretty girlfriend. Guess I can't be mad about it." He sighs and starts going through the drawers, searching for something to wear.
The more I think about it, the worse I feel for Grayson. He just wants to spend time with his friend. He must feel like a third wheel with Grant and I. He also doesn't know anybody here, so going out is going to be more nerve-racking than fun if he goes alone. Also, Grant deserves to have a fun guys night out. He's been so understanding with everything going on.
"You should go." I face Grant.
Grayson's face lights up with excitement.
Grant stares at me in disbelief. "I should go?"
"Yeah, go have fun with your friend."
Grant raises his eyebrow. "What is going on?"
I hit him playfully. "Enjoy yourself and stop ignoring all your friends."
He smirks. "I'm not ignoring all of my friends." He looks me up and down, emphasizing the word all.
"You'll go?" I ask him.
"If you want me to."
"I do."
"Then I guess I should grab my jacket."
I smile and nod. "Hurry up, Grayson's waiting."
Grayson runs over and hugs me so tightly I lose my breath. "Grayson I can't breathe." If I wasn't pretending I didn't notice I'd probably remind him he's in a towel too.
I hear Grayson's heartwarming laugh as he tosses me in the air like I'm one of his pillows. "You're my hero."
His laugh is contagious, and I find myself laughing with him. "Well, not all hero's wear capes."
Gray disappears into the bathroom to get dressed.
Grant walks into the room, putting on his leather jacket. "Did you finish curling your hair Grayson?"
"I'm more concerned if you put deodorant on." Grayson crinkles his nose at Grant as he exits the bathroom.
"Please just keep him from doing something stupid." I look Grayson in the eyes sternly.
Grant hugs me from behind. "I'm not the one you have to worry about babe."
Grayson smirks. "I'll keep an eye on him all night."
"Thank you."
Grant uses my arms to turn me around and pull me into a kiss. "Call me if you need anything. I love you so much."
"I love you so much." I smile up at him.
"And I love whiskey, who I'm standing up by the way." Grayson walks eagerly towards the door.
I kiss Grant on the cheek. "Bye."
He looks upset when I say this. "I'll be back soon."
"Have fun you too! Make good choices."
They laugh as they walk out the door.
