CHAPTER TWENTY SIX: What If?

Note before reading: If the scenes feel rushed, that means that the book still needs to be revised after completion. As I said, feedback is highly appreciated if there are mistakes or anything that you want to let the author know. Lovelots! 💕

After going out to the cinema with Eli, I made sure to write a couple more pages for the novel.

I might as well advance my publisher before I do go with what Eli had planned. It was better prepared than badly getting stuck with the situation.

She wasn't strict. Just curious about what happens to the novel. I wasn't going to argue though. She might help me to get to the bookseller list if this book gets recognition.

My mind then drifts off to another as I accidentally shifted my attention to my door. I still wonder is why Eli keeps on dragging me so suddenly these days.

It's not that I'm against it, I was just new to what was happening, I guess. He was never this cheerful nor was he open to talks.

Maybe because of that book?

No, that's impossible.

I had to help him somehow.

My eyes scanned the room for the things I'd yet to do before leaving. Eli had told me to meet him outside at 11, to that cafe I pulled him to before.

Ground Central Coffee, was it? I'm guessing he'd take some food before we visit the recording studio.

That coffee place was where I usually get some ideas for my novel. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw Eli there too. To be honest, he just went there for a few weeks now.

He usually goes there to compose. Even in his busy days, he would usually visit the place and get some coffee.

I had to run an errand back then and got some brownies but I saw him sitting in the corner, drinking his coffee while writing. I think he liked the place but never really told me when we first went here.

As soon as I finished preparing myself and got into a comfortable black T-shirt and blue jeans, I decided to wear my white converse before heading out.

I usually wear a black cap outdoors and plus, it was a sunny day. Too much sun on my face wasn't really my kind of weather. I prefer rainy days more.

A call interrupted my thoughts so I had to answer it. Looking at the call name this time, I smiled. "Hello? Eli?"

"Cia, something came up. Mind if we move it to 1?  I just have to meet someone," he asked me as I agreed.

This would be alright, considering that I can adjust my plans.

"No worries, I'll meet with Kiara for a while then. See you later at 1." Eli thanked me before ending the call once again. Must be urgent.

I didn't mind it too much since he's pretty busy these days. Plus, I haven't really gotten Kiara's opinion about the book. This time, I'll meet up with her with my journal.

There are a lot of ideas that I've written and I wanted some feedback if I should change it or not. I haven't finished it but that's better since I can still have time to revise it.

Calling Kiara, I heard her answering me with a groggy voice. Maybe she had just woken up. "Cia? You're up early."

"And you're up late. Let's meet up at 11. Grab some lunch too." A shuffling was heard from the other side, probably her getting some energy drinks from the fridge or a bowl for her oats.

"You should really limit those energy drinks in the morning."

She then chuckled a bit before she replied, "Look, 8 am is too early for me. At least let me have one drink."

"Fine, energize yourself first," I told her before I continued. "Ah right, have you gotten the time to look at the notes I passed to you through email?"

"For the novel? I did. Might change some scenes though." That's new. Did I make my writing too serious?

"Is there a problem about it?" She coughed. There was a slight hesitation since all I heard was silence. Was it something I said?

Flip of pages were heard from the other line and I could tell that she was going through her notes.

She always had this notepad where she usually jots down the details for me instead of going through it again and trying to remember it.

I patiently waited for her to answer.

Though, I had to grab the coffee packet that Eli had bought. My mug was empty so I had to make it. But this time, it wasn't my typical coffee. I decided to get the one he recommended.

Sipping it, I heard Kiara's voice once again.

"No, not really. But you've been putting some character's name as Eli and I was just...shocked?" She seems questioning and even trailed off about the last part and I almost dropped my phone when I heard that.

Wait, have I been dozing off? What did she meant by putting Eli's name on the book?

"I put a name 'Eli' on the book? I must have made a mistake then," I answered before trying my best to make an excuse.

"I was listening to Eli Prince's song. Seems you had good taste."

"Which one?" Kiara asked, unseemingly suspicious of me. Knowing that she'd do that, I told her the lastest song of Eli which was released days ago.

She then fangirled before happily saying that she was glad I had looked into it.

Whew, that was close.

"Well, looks like everything is set. I still have a few notes here that you should look into," she told me before I nodded.

"Alright, meet you at 11. Let's order some food too." After that, I hang up and sighed in relief.

I almost got caught. Plus, I can't believe that I've written Eli's name over the book.

Come to think of it, I've handed Eli a copy of my manuscript a few days ago.

Have I edited that one?

My face flushed. What if I didn't? Has he read it?

What would he think if he did?

Ah, this is embarrassing.
