CHAPTER THIRTEEN: Comfort Zone
Note before reading: If the scenes feel rushed, that means that the book still needs to be revised after completion. As I said, feedback is highly appreciated if there are mistakes or anything that you want to let the author know. Lovelots! 💕

After that ride, we were both decided to grab something to eat. Well, without talking much on the way.
There were a lot of people who went to the lake after thirty minutes so we knew it was time to leave – considering that the place might not be too suitable for writing as soon as it gets crowded. There would be possibilities that some of them may also recognize Eli and it would only just result in another chaos.
Yet, this thought never seem to leave my mind as soon as we walked away from that writing spot.
I was losing ideas on how to write romance since I've never experienced it when I suddenly found out that Eli was having trouble writing romance since he already experienced it yet it was from his past. Knowing him, I was sure that he wanted to leave and jump to another topic earlier – avoiding explaining even further by what he meant by that.
To be honest, I didn't even dare ask him about it since it was quite personal so I only told him that he'd probably need some coffee or a meal to get for lunch. I don't want to go back on an empty stomach. At first, he wanted to just go home but I knew that he wasn't even finished writing his lyrics.
There were still a lot of places where he could gain some inspiration and give him some push to what he wanted to show in his new release.
He agreed though after a few more attempts.
Unexpectedly, however, he thanked me for taking him to that spot. He actually wrote half but not he told me that he still needed to finish it so coffee was the first thing that struck me the most.
At least we got the same interest.
Calling a cab, he raised an eyebrow at me as he then stopped me. "Wait, why are you calling a cab? Can't we just go to the nearest Starbucks or coffee shop?"
"No, you need something else," I simply answered but he then sighed, making me look back to him with a confused look. His eyebrows were furrowed and I could see how he was asking me the same question when we were still in the unit.
"Please don't tell me that I have to brew my own coffee." I couldn't help but stifle a giggle as he put his hands to cover his face. After letting him make his own coffee earlier in the morning, I'm sure he's still used to having bottles of coffee rather than the ones ordered in cafés or stirred in his own mug. "I swear, you can just buy Starbucks these days."
"Why not try something different? You're a composer. Surely you try other things than sticking in the comfort zone." He was about to argue but I pointed at his notebook. I was mentioning his lyrics and his words suddenly vanished into thin air.
It almost felt like it took him ages before he could even mutter a word. "I-It's not as easy to someone else. Having to try new things takes a lot of time, especially if you're already comfortable with what you have."
He had a point though. It was hard not knowing if you would like something or not for the first time. But since I wanted him to try the coffee at the Ground Central Coffee – considering that he may not have been there before – I told him that it would be a good experience and that he should have a little bit of trust since he might like it in the end.
So, we ended up calling a cab since it was just a fourteen-minute ride from the central park to Ground Central. If we had walked there, we would've taken a long time before we could even eat.
As soon as Eli had finally got of the cab, I grinned at him and said, "Tada! Welcome to your new go-to coffee shop."
Yet, the look on his face still seems hesitant. He was frozen in front of the café and he needs a bit of nudge to even get him moving. I then pat his shoulder before walking inside, with him following right after.
There were a lot of people but I could see some empty spaces for us to have our coffee so I decided to go to the back so he would get some inspiration in the café and he won't catch too much attention. Plus, there was a table and a sofa there. Might be a bit comfortable.
We wouldn't want him experiencing what he had back at the Mercado. When we finally went to the back, he didn't seem to mind. He only sat, putting his notebook down on the table, and waited for me to do all the talking.
Since I knew he was still not used to this place, I let him stay and only asked for his order.
Knowing that he wasn't knowledgeable about the menu, I told him that there were also bread and other snacks that he might get – listing it to him one by one.
Though, he stopped me by raising his hand. "I'll just get the brownie that you mentioned. Plus, expresso."
I then answered him with a thumbs up before being the one to order. Taking one glance back, I saw him looking at his notebook while his fingers were twirling his pen. Before I could even gaze much longer, my phone vibrated and I opened it to see Kiara's message.
But I wasn't expecting her to ask about Eli.
Putting my phone in my pocket and deciding not to answer was probably the only thing that I could do right now.
Going to the counter after the lady in front of me had ordered, I told the woman working there that I needed two brownies, one expresso, and one flat white. When the order arrived, I made sure to pay for the coffee and brownies before returning back to my seat.
Though, I wasn't sure what to say to him regarding Kiara's message.
