CHAPTER SIXTEEN: Exchange

Note before reading: If the scenes feel rushed, that means that the book still needs to be revised after completion. As I said, feedback is highly appreciated if there are mistakes or anything that you want to let the author know. Lovelots! 💕

After that little session we got from the Bryant Park, I already knew that Eli had finished composing his lyrics. He had changed some of the lyrics before he had finally closed his notebook to end the song.

Both of us had a bit of trouble writing but considering that I had helped him with the words and he shared his ideas for mine, we were able to do greatly.

I might be able to edit the novel once I get home and I'm pretty sure that Eli had the same thought. My publisher was the curious type so I still had to make sure Kiara read this and ask for her feedback.

Standing back up, I saw how Eli seems to be questioning what I was thinking. When I told him that it might be the time to go back to our condominium, I swear I didn't expect him to stand up too fast as if he was anticipating it.

"I didn't think you'll finally leave. I mean, we're practically sitting for like three hours," Eli complained as I only waved my hand to assure him that he had nothing to worry about.

"It's more like two but don't worry, we can finally go back home and finish our pieces. And if you're thinking we'd go to another place, I still got a publisher to call," I told him my plans so he'd have an idea that I'd be busy and that we do have the rest of the time to complete our to-do list.

As soon as we walked off the park and called a cab, I tried to do the same but he said that we could probably take the same cab since we were going the same direction.

I wanted to tease him about it – considering that he had made me ride a separate one the last time we traveled – but I was cautious since he might do it again. Saving the cost would be nice this time around too so I took the offer.

It took a few minutes to get back to our condominium and when we did, we both got out as we paid and Eli just walked ahead from me. Looking at his back, I noticed how he seemed tensed and how he was mumbling out some of his lyrics out loud. Maybe he was still thinking which lines to change.

"Lee," I had decided to call him his last name but he suddenly tried to tell me that his real name was Eli. Though, I didn't want him to get into another trouble with the paparazzi so I said that it would be nice if I used his surname.

"It would be better, Lee." He shocked his head at this and gave a small smile. Even though it was for a split second, my eyes widened at the sudden reaction.

"Well, I don't think Lee would be a bit comfortable. Just call me Prince, then." Right, now I feel just treating him as his highness.

"Don't you think those are for royalty?" I teased as he only rolled his eyes at this.

"I won't let you call me Lee though so you have no choice but to call me by my name," he answered. When I tried to complain, he just cuts me off by mentioning my book.

"You better finish that chapters soon. I'd like to read it. In exchange, you listen to my song as I sing it. Sounds good?" I was about to refuse but the sudden text of Kiara that she was going to be unavailable for the beta reading since she was still finishing up her work had made me sigh.

Well, two beta readers didn't seem like a problem anyway.

"Deal. But I still got to edit this so you can just go on and edit yours too, probably." But he didn't budge, so it made me raise my eyebrow.

We were both standing right outside our units and I was curious as to why he wasn't leaving.

"Are you going? Any time now," I couldn't help but mumble and shrug as he blinked twice before getting the hint. He then apologized and excused himself. Yet I still saw the red cheeks that he tried to hide as he closed the door once he got in.

Poor guy probably got a lot on his mind.

I only chuckled at this as I then went inside my unit to start writing. Walking towards the computer, I sat down and decided to finish off what I wrote in the journal.

A ring had finally echoed throughout the unit and I took out my phone to answer the call. Suddenly, I was shocked to see that it was my publisher and I immediately tried to calm down and tell him that I was almost done with another chapter. Though, I didn't expect Eli to just burst through the door. I tried to tell him I was on a call and that he should at least go back to his unit.

"Go away," I tried telling him but my publisher thought it was him so I had to explain. I tried throwing books a bit but Eli only gave me a raised eyebrow before going right towards the fridge to get coffee.

Standing up, I then took the coffee packets out of his hands. "No, this isn't yours. Also, you don't need this."

"Excuse me, Miss Winter, are you saying you're not going to give us your manuscript." I heard the publisher at the end of the line as my eyes widened and shook my head no before speaking up.

"No! No, sorry sir. I was talking to someone," I replied before trying to shoo Eli away. Though, I only sighed and rolled my eyes as he winked and waved the coffee packets at me.

"I'll buy you some next time then," he mouthed before rushing back to his unit. I only sat on my computer, looking at the screen before telling my publisher that I'd pass the chapter within the day. He agreed though so I was relieved.

Oh that Eli is going to get it.
