I couldn't help but awkwardly smile at Eli as he gave me a look of disbelief.
Right now, we were just having a talk without Kiara. I had already helped her right away after the meal so she wouldn't be able to figure out who Eli was – since she had been staring more lately at him during the meet.
"I can't believe that you brought another fan. Don't tell me you're a fangirl too." I could already hear him sighing and scoffing as I only gawked at what he said.
This guy needs to know that I'm not even aware that he was a singer until Kiara had opened and talked about him and that the reason why Kiara was even here was for another reason and not him.
To be honest, I wish Kiara knew that this was Eli earlier so I wouldn't have to prove my side.
"Look, my friend might be your fan but I didn't purposely bring her here. I didn't even know she'd be here. I was about to meet her at the Mercado but you were there with your paparazzi and even stole my cab."
He was about to argue but then pursed his lips when I crossed my arms and raised my eyebrow. It was true though. After that, a sigh came out of his mouth and he only waved his hands to tell me that he doesn't want to argue anymore.
I guess he noticed that I wasn't the one at fault and we both didn't expect this. He then apologized as I nodded, exchanging an apology was well since my tone was far from nice and I barely knew the guy.
First impressions always last and I'm sure that he'll think I'm a madwoman with quite a temper instead of a lovely writer who drinks coffee, always in a good mood with cats, music, movies, and a blanket wrapped around her. Though, I'm pretty much in the middle.
A sudden cough interrupted my thoughts as I saw him finished on his meal and looking at mine. Ah right, we shouldn't last too long here. I only blinked and decided to take a bite out of mine – making sure that I wouldn't take too long since I'm sure that this guy still has places to be.
When I finally finished and we were both on our way out, he suddenly faced me and asked me if I heard the whole song that he was playing on the piano. Since I knew he wasn't the type of person that would want someone to invade his space, I tried shaking my head in disagreement.
"I know you heard me playing or else you wouldn't sing those lyrics for that composition." Eli gave me a dead look and I only grinned awkwardly, trying to deny what he said. There was no way that this guy would know that it was me. That would be embarrassing.
Imagine your next-door neighbor just causing chaos outside your door. I'm a writer, for Christ's sake!
"Are you sure that was me? I was writing all day on my desk," I emphasized in order to make it believable but he only rolled his eyes and showed me a pen with my initials on it. I only gaped at this as he kept on clicking it and shaking it.
"You dropped this while eavesdropping at my door," he replied and I only took it from his hands – putting the pen inside the pocket of my coat. I wanted to argue that it wasn't mine but he continued.
"If it isn't yours, then I'm keeping it. It looks grand anyway, might help me compose."
No thanks. I will never give this pen. It was a gift from my mother. I only stayed silent as he smirked victoriously next to me as I waited for a cab.
Please, I just want to get out of here so I can hide my face from eternity. I didn't know that he'd find out so soon.
When a cab finally stopped in front of us, I was so shocked to see that Eli had opened the door. At first, I thought he was just being a gentleman so I smiled and thanked him.
"I really apologize for all the fuss that I caused outside your door. You being a gentleman and opening the door is just-" He then chuckled at me as I got so confused.
"Gentleman? Ah, you mean this? I called this cab first, yours is the second one right there." Eli then pointed at the next cab that looked like it was waiting for me to get in. I only gulped as he finally went inside the cab.
I swear to God, when I go home, I'll never show myself to the rest of the world. It's either I become too clumsy or just embarrass myself completely. I don't even want to know what would happen next.
Walking towards my cab, I was about to get in but suddenly Eli opened the cab's window and called my name.
"Ah right, I'll be keeping this pen and hat for now, alright? Helps me write. You don't seem to need it at the mean time anyway." When he said that, I widened my eyes and tried to see if my pen was on the pocket of my coat. Fudge, it's not there. I even forgot that I gave him that hat to hide his face.
Damn it!
Immediately, I ran to Eli's cab and knocked on the window. "Hey! I need that pen this instant! You don't have the right to take it from me."
"Sorry, I don't see your initials on this pen-" He then cut himself when he realized that I do have my initials scribed on the exterior. Coughing, he tried again. "I don't see your full name in this pen."
"Well then, starting right now, you better wish I don't get there before you do," I taunted him as he only waved goodbye, grinning at the end.
"This is my payback for eavesdropping on my songs!"
"Excuse me, you stole my lyrics, just so you know!"
When the cab suddenly took off, I only stormed to walk to my own cab. "Driver, take me to Brooklyn. Fast."
