CHAPTER FOURTEEN: Love?

Note before reading: If the scenes feel rushed, that means that the book still needs to be revised after completion. As I said, feedback is highly appreciated if there are mistakes or anything that you want to let the author know. Lovelots! 💕

Eli couldn't believe what I said and shook his head.

Right now, we were still at the café, enjoying the ones that we bought. The brownies were still on his plate, half was only left lying there. As he took another sip of his expresso, I could see his judging face staring right into my soul.

I had finally told him about the message and he was in complete disagreement. Actually, Kiara didn't even mention him being a singer. She probably forgot since the phone was too far away from us.

There was a possibility that she didn't hear us clearly and she had no idea about the songs and the lyrics that we kept on mentioning.

Though, she did ask me if we could still meet up as three and hang out for another time – to which Eli had reacted as if he was not up for the idea.

"I thought you said your friend didn't know who I was?" I couldn't help but roll my eyes at this and tell him that it wasn't because of him being a celebrity but because of the book I was creating.

Okay, that was a complete lie.

My friend is playing as a matchmaker but I'm not ready right now, especially not when I'm writing my novel and this guy is busy with his lyrics. And also, hello, we're both artists who's lacking inspiration, not a relationship.

Knowing what he'll answer next, I raised my hand up to stop him. "Don't worry, I'll cancel it."

"I didn't say you should cancel it," he then told me, making me raise my eyebrow. "I'm just curious if she knows."

"You mentioned your book. So, I'll help you out. You did try your best to help me write my lyrics," he continued as I looked at the phone that was on my hand.

So, he's willing to really meet up with my friend and risk his image of being seen? I couldn't help but shake my head at this.

There was no way I'd put him in that situation again.

"But what if she finds out as soon as you meet up? No, it would be better if I'd just cancel it and tell her that I wouldn't want to disturb your personal space," I answered back.

When I turned my attention back to him, he was shaking his head to tell me that I shouldn't cancel it and that I should answer Kiara that we'd be meeting her this weekend.

"It would only make her curious if you keep on hiding me as if I'm a celebrity, to which I really am. It would just make her more suspicious."

"Even if you're a writer, you don't seem to have this situation planned," He has a point but knowing Kiara, it wouldn't be the best situation he would want to have. "It would be better to act naturally than being shady."

Biting my lip, I couldn't help but text back that we wouldn't be available and that Eli had other plans.

There was no way I'd push this guy to a scenario where he'd feel uncomfortable.

Kiara was the type to tease people and if she does know that this is Eli, I couldn't guarantee that she could be silent about it. I'm sure that people would know in a day if she tweets on her Twitter so that's already a 'no' for me.

When he tried to peek, I made sure to hide my phone. "I know my best friend. I know Kiara. I think it's better to cancel, Eli."

He couldn't help but look at me amusingly. "Huh, and here I thought that you were just acting."

"Excuse me?" He then chuckled.

"Most people would be supportive of their friends meeting their favorite artists. Hence, I expected you'd take my suggestion," he explained before he shrugged. "But you still decided to cancel."

"Well, if you'd like to go back to that paparazzi scene-" A smirk plastered on my face when he widened his eyes and shake his head as if telling me not to.

"That's now what I even meant about that. You sure do jump to conclusions," he replied with annoyance in his tone as I couldn't help but laugh.

"Well, I'm not like most people. I always tell you." It didn't take long for Kiara to message me with a sad emoji all of a sudden and tell me that it was alright.

Taking another glance over Eli's notebook, I then asked him if it would be okay if I read the lines that he made to have an idea of what he was writing. He hesitantly agreed, however, telling me that he wasn't finished.

Seeing the words that he used, I couldn't help but mumble the words quietly. His eyes were kept in my direction, looking at how I would react to the lyrics that he wrote. To be honest, it didn't seem to be romance, it was half heartbreak. Sighing, I gave him a pat on the shoulders.

"We need a little bit work on the lovey-dovey stuff. All I saw was three lines having the romantic vibe but as soon as you went there, it became sad all of a sudden," I opened up as I saw him looking down and putting his hands on his forehead, a bit stressed out.

"I just can't seem to make it feel like I'm in love." Taking a bite of my brownie, I decided to take my pen out of my bag and then wrote him some lines.

He had his eyebrows raised and I gave it to him instantly.

"What's this?" He couldn't help but wave the paper in the air. "What am I going to do with these lines?"

"Start with those. You know you don't have to be in love to show love, right?" He was utterly confused about it so I pointed to myself. "You don't see me having a lover, do you? Yet, my book feels like I have one."

"Don't force yourself in making it look like you're in love. What matters is how you think you would act if you are in love then put it in words," I explained to him.

"Think of it as if you're writing to a distant yet the girl of your dreams."

He then snaps his finger. "Now, I understand why you were talking to yourself and in thin air every time in your unit."

What did he just say?

My eyes widened and scoffed. "Excuse me? I was reciting words, not talking to myself."

"Maybe that's why you haven't even gotten a boyfriend yet, 'cause you act like you're in love every time."

My mouth went agape at this and decided to take a large bite of my brownie and chew it until I was finished. I also made sure to drink my coffee and finish it within a minute. He stared at me wide-eyed as I stood up.

"You know what? Finish your coffee, now. Let's have a little chat outside."

"Not going to happen, you look like you're going to fight me as soon as we step out of that door," he answered back as I scoffed once more as he sat comfortably in his seat, cross-legged like a gentleman.

"So, if I were you, just sit back down 'cause there is nothing you can do to make stand up. We can have our chat here. Plus, people are staring."

He was about to smirk but it soon faded as I only laughed.

"Well, let them stare then. I ain't moving, Mr. Lee."
