Hours go by as I laid on the couch staring at reruns of an old TV show whilst Derek sat across from me texting who I could only assume to be his girlfriend. He slowly rubs the mark on his face and I shook my head as I remembered our fight from before. I'm sure my face was just as bruised and I wanted to punch him for starting that fight unprovoked.
Slipping his phone into his pocket, Derek pulls something from a small can before offering it to me.
"Want one?"
I stared up at Derek from my position and shook my head in disappointment as he shows me the weed in his hand.
"I thought you quit."
"Tried. Life is too messed up without it."
"What do you have to complain about? You have Bri, your twin, your mom. Hell, you even got Chris and his friends. What more do you need?"
"Just because I am surrounded by a sea of people doesn't mean my life isn't hell."
"Well that's called reality."
"Reality sucks."
I shake my head once more and slipped one hand beneath my head as the other lazily massaged my chest. "I don't do that anymore."
"Tonight can be the exception."
"Maybe next time."
"Hmm."
"What?"
"Nothing." He says and I roll my eyes as I stared at him expectantly.
"I see that Levi is getting his wish."
"Humph. Who would have thought it would have taken the end of my relationship to accomplish that?"
"Its called maturing or like my idiot father used to say 'becoming a man'."
"Are we listening to him now?"
Derek chuckles before blowing the smoke upwards.
"I had to pick up some cash for mom and ran into the chick he replaced her with."
"Mmhmm?"
"You don't even have to ask how that went."
"Yeah. Its tough man, I know."
"So, what are you doing for your birthday?" He suddenly asks, in an attempt to change the subject.
"Sleep."
"Oh come on, that's way too boring. Let's throw a party."
"Not in the party mood."
"Well no shit sherlock. Today's not the day."
"Won't be in the mood then either."
"Well you can leave when the mood comes over you but come on man, let's have the party."
I sighed loudly before covering my eyes with my right arm. "Let it go Eric."
"Do you wanna-"
His words are cut short by the ringing of the doorbell and I exchanged a confused look with him as the time showed it was just after midnight.
When that was changed to banging I shook my head before getting up, yelling that I'd be there so that the person could stop with their annoying banging.
Pulling the door open, I stood frozen, my expression quickly changing from curious to confused when I saw Chris standing on the other side dressed in a black pair of slacks and matching hoodie, hands shoved deep in his pockets.
"Chris?" I say shocked to see him.
"We need to talk."
"Its after midnight."
"I can't sleep knowing how we left our conversation especially after the past few days and since Derek said you're still up, I decided to come over."
I looked over at Derek as he suddenly stands and heads over to us with a sly look on his face, making me realise that all this time it was Chris who he was texting instead of his girlfriend.
"Really?"
"What?" He asked, pretending to be unaware of what I was accusing him of.
"Can I come in? Its kind of cold out here."
"Of course you can. I was just leaving."
"You're as high as a kite Eric, you're not-"
Derek sidesteps me as Chris steps in before saluting me and I shook my head as he pulls in the door behind him, inevitably locking myself and Chris inside.
I inhale sharply as he stands close to me before heading over to the couch and sitting there. Turning slowly, I joined him but used the couch opposite.
"I'm sorry." He starts. "I should have told you that I was moving back home. I really wanted to tell you so many times but at first I didn't think you cared and then as time went on I just didn't know how to."
"Its not that hard to just tell me you're leaving."
"It is when I'm having second thoughts."
"I just don't get why you have to leave in the first place. Your life is here. Your friends, your job. It's all here."
"You were here. I went to Uni to get a degree and better the business back home. I didn't even have to because I knew I would take over. Its a lot and my dad just wanted to make sure that, as young as I am, I'd be able to handle it whenever he left."
He sighs as he leans forward. "I got the degree and he died. This huge business is now mine and I run it quite successfully. I'm in charge of hundreds of people and I have 200 acrcs of personal farmlands that I need to oversee.
The only reason I stayed after I graduated was because of you. Because I love you and wanted to make things work. I can see my friends whenever and I have people in charge of things on this end.
Even when we broke up I still stayed, hoping that you'd fight for me and realize that I never meant it when I said I needed space. I never wanted to be away from you and I would have continued to let you hurt me if you had even tried. Thats how much I love you.
It makes no sense and it's almost like you have all the power over me but I can't stop myself when it comes to you."
"Chris-"
"But a year past and then some and you just completely avoided me-"
"I wanted to respect your wishes."
"I never wanted you too. You couldn't talk about me to your friends, you isolated yourself from us and you made no effort to win me back. So I moved on, in hopes of actually moving on from you. I decided that there was no longer a reason to stay and I decided that at least I knew what it was like to love you.
But then things changed and I became confused. I love you and I now know that you feel the same so I'm here D, I'm here because I can't leave you, leave us... like this. Not again."
"Me begging isn't gonna make a difference."
"I'm sitting in front of you. Isn't that enough to prove you wrong?"
"So you'll just stay for me? Just me?"
"I want us to work. I want you... don't you want me?"
I ran a hand through my hair at his question before shaking my head. Chris looks at me and for a second his expression changes to that of a hurt puppy before I head over and kneel between his legs. Pulling his chin closer to my face, I gently caressed the outline of his, tracing my fingers all over before planting a soft kiss on his lips.
When I heard him exhale, I deepened it before pushing him back against the couch and straddling him.
"I love you." I say at the corner of his lips. "And I'm sorry for being too much to deal with."
"It isn't-"
"Shhh. Don't speak." I murmur as he tried again to defend me. "I want you... forever. I want this to work, more than I've ever wanted anything to work. But tonight, instead of talking, I wanna show you all the ways in which I've craved you. So yes, I'm sorry for not being able to talk this through in this second. Not when I'm this hard for you."
I rub my hardon against his stomach and heard him groan as I felt his own hardened erection pressed against my butt.
"Please let me make love to you." I pleaded as I kissed and nibbled his neck. "Please, say yes."
"Yes."
