I smiled as we pulled up at the Hollywood sign. Getting out of the car I dragged him with me. "You are going to love the view!" I said as I stepped over the rock and a gust of wind blew by me. I opened my hands as I felt the wind take me with it. "AAHHHHH!" I shouted as loudly as I could. It felt really good. I finally opened my eyes to see Asher's green ones staring at me with an unknown emotion in them.
"So welcome to my special place," I said getting down and twirling around in my place. He looked at the Hollywood sign and then my face. "You are kidding, right? There are like thousands of tourists who come here and so do people who live in LA," he said. I glared at him. Smartypants had to open his mouth.
"You know what then go back!" I said sitting down on the rock and pulling my knees to my chest. I heard a deep sigh and he came and stood in front of me. I closed my eyes. I felt him sitting beside me. I opened my eyes and smiled at him. "So why do you swear so much?" I asked. "Going directly to the point, Wilder?" He asked. I sheepishly nodded.
"Why were you so mad at Derek and Christian that day?" he asked in return. "Okay buddy that is too personal," I said putting my legs down. "So you feel safe here?" he asked. I nodded. "You know it's not? People can kidnap you from here and you can't even fu*king call for help!" he said. "You know what you can leave!" I snapped at him. I opened my backpack and showed him the taser and pepper spray. His eyes widened.
"Why the fu*k would you carry that in your backpack?" he asked. "Safety purposes," I answered vaguely. "So why am I here?" he asked. "So that I can help you control your anger," I said. His hands balled up in a fist. "I asked you to let that go!" He said his voice very high and angry. "Wow, one sentence without cursing!" I said with fake astonishment.
"I have a solution for my anger," he said. I looked at him as he removed something from his jeans pocket. And as soon as I saw the packet I snatched it and threw it down the hill. "Are you mad?" I asked. "Great you will fu*king lecture me about the cigarette and then you would want to be the girl that would want to help the bad boy. You all are the fu*king same. Why don't you understand I don't fu*king need your help!" he shouted.
I looked at him as he let out his pent-up emotions. I slowly walked towards him and placed my hands on either side of his face. "Asher," I whispered. "I am not some girl who wants to hook up with you and do it with you. I don't want to change you. What kind of a friend would I be If I would want to change you? But I know that this is not the real you and I want to bring back the real you. The one that you have left behind. And I will not only be with you throughout the journey but will wait for you until it ends," I said softly.
We both just stood there staring into each other's eyes till I felt his hands go around my waist and pull me into his chest. I smiled as I felt the scent of Vanilla and some forest wood hit me. "You have to give me a new way of controlling my anger if you are throwing away mine," he said. I smiled as an idea struck me. I removed one of the thin black hair ties from my hand and placed it on his wrist.
"When I am with you I would make sure you won't get angry but when I am not with you, you can use this as a distraction. Trust me it works," I said. He looked at me and then at the tie on his wrist. "You have to be fu*king kidding me!" He said. "Nope!" I said. He looked at the hair tie once and then looked at me. "You are stupid," he muttered. I just got up from the rock.
"Let's go back," I said. We both started walking to the car and drove to his house. We didn't talk on the way cause it wasn't necessary and the silence was comforting. The car came to a halt outside his house he turned off the engine and looked at me.
"I won't be in school for a week," he said. My eyes widened. "It's been like what three weeks since school started and you are already missing a whole week?" I asked. "Yes, I am anyways ahead of class I was homeschooled so I can graduate without having to attend school," he said smirking. "Okay, I guess. Then I will see you in ten days?" I asked thinking about this weekend.
He nodded. We both got out of the car and I walked to the driver's seat. I closed the door as he leaned towards the window. "You need this time. You will see how easy and less problematic your life is without me," he said. I smiled. "Will you be safe?" I asked. I don't know why but I always get the need to ask him that. I had a feeling that whatever he was doing was unsafe.
"Probably," he replied. I nodded. "Bye," I said. He nodded and took a few steps back. I started the car and smiled at him before backing out of the driveway I started driving home.
"I am home!" I shouted as I got in. "Honey, we are in the kitchen!" Mom answered. I walked in to see Mom, Dad and Kyle sitting at the dining table. "So what's up?" I asked. "You tell us, honey?" Mom asked. What did she mean? "Nothing much. Just dropped a friend home have a lot of homework to do," I said grabbing a glass of water. "So I heard you are dating someone," Dad said. I looked at Kyle immediately.
His eyes were wide. "What the fu*k she is not dating anyone," Kyle said. "You could have said that using normal words," I said grabbing the swear jar. No, this jar wasn't Mom's idea. Mom hated it since even she swore a lot. It was my idea. And I was proud of it cause, one would be shocked by the amount of money I earned in a week.
Kyle dropped a dollar in it and scowled and I laughed. "But she has become quite friendly with the new students," Kyle said smirking. "I need every detail about it now!" Dad said. "Dad relaxes, look I am just being friendly and they are nice guys. Two of them are in Kyle's team and the other guy is really smart," I said remembering his words from earlier. And a smile made its way to my lips.
"We would love to meet them," Mom said bringing me out of my trance. "No Thank you, we don't want it to be awkward and he is just a really good friend!" I said glaring at Kyle. He just nodded and wiggled his eyebrows. "Don't you have to pick up El from her dance class?" I asked. His eyes widened as he looked at the clock and rushed out. I started laughing.
"I'll be up in my room doing homework if you need me," I said walking upstairs. The weekend was going to be boring.
---
Six Days Later
It was Wednesday and I was exhausted. The school was okay. I felt like a fourth wheel between Ky, El, Christian and Allisa. Blake had to go with Asher so even he wasn't there to keep me company. Noah had been trying to win over my trust since he had been all gentlemanly. I didn't want to hurt him but casual dating was not my cup of tea.
I lay in bed just listening to some random music. I didn't even know the song that was being played. Asher was so freaking wrong. It was boring without him. I did try to text Blake to ask about their whereabouts but neither did the messages reach nor did he answer his phone.
Christian said they were fine and they are in another country so it would be difficult for them. I needed to ask him how and why did he need to be in another country. I sighed closing my eyes and drifting off to sleep.
----
Another Six Days Later
I was beyond mad. It's three days since he said he would be back! Blake was back from wherever they went and his hand was broken! He had a plaster around his hand and he was so pissed at everyone without any reason. God knows what happened. I have tried to talk to him. But he either ignored me or just... he only ignored me.
I had no way of contacting any one of them and it was annoying me. Kyle said that everything was normal and it must be some family issue but I was pretty sure it was not.
I walked to the parking and stood near Blake's car hiding near the tree. When I saw him talking on the phone and unlocking his car I sprang out of my hiding place. "HOLY SH*T!" He shouted. "What the fu*k were you doing there?" he asked. "Why are you ignoring me?" I asked. "Yes! It's umm a friend! I'll call you later!" he said into the phone. I looked at him expectantly.
"You are so fu*king stupid! Can't you come and see it? Fine!" he said and put the phone in his back pocket. "Yeah, what were you saying? Ignoring? I am not ignoring you Kiara!" he said. "Okay... Then why are so angry all the time? Asher left you his duty or something?" I asked rolling my eyes. While he just laughed.
"Look the work I went for didn't go as planned and I came back with a fu*king broken hand! That's the reason my boss threw me back here. You think I shouldn't be pissed?" he asked. "Okay that's fair I guess. So is the work done now?" I asked. "Yeah you could say that," he said trailing off. "So why the heck isn't your boss still here?" I asked snapping at him.
His eyes widened as he understood I was talking about Asher. Does he think I am stupid or something? I did my research in the past 12 days. Asher had inherited a company from his family, he is the CEO now and the company is in Europe. So he wasn't out of the country. He was out of the freaking Continent!
Christian and Blake were his partners or something like that. It was very hard for me to find any information since some of the details are very vague and the timeline also doesn't match up. But I left it at that since if I found out something I wasn't supposed to it would have been considered snooping.
"You know?" he asked in horror. "Yeah!" I said. "Really? Asher told you?" he asked. "Of course not! He hasn't contacted me for 12 days god forbid! If he is alive I might kill him! Does he not own a phone?" I asked. "Then how the hell did you find out?" he asked. "Oh, I dug it up. I mean being the CEO at such a young age is impressive!" I said.
"The what now?" he asked. "CEO." "HOLY FU*KING SH*T! You mean... Oh, I thought... You gave me a fu*king heart attack!" he shouted. "Blake whatever you are saying makes no sense at all. Please just go and take a rest," I said patting his back. I was about to get in my car which was just opposite his I heard him say, "He will come to school tomorrow!"
I didn't turn around but smiled and got in the car. The assurance was enough for me.
----
I was laying in bed doing my homework and I was so bored. Ky and El were out on a date. Allisa had to babysit her neighbour. Blake couldn't come due to his injury and Christian didn't even text me back.
Mom and Dad were out at a business meeting so they were going to be working late. I sighed as I got up to eat something. I walked down to the kitchen and then grabbed a bar of Hershey's from the fridge. I sat down at the barstool and took off my overall woollen shrug leaving me in my white tank top and black shorts.
I just took a bite of the heavenly goodness when the doorbell rang. I swear to God Kyle needs to tie the key around his neck or something. "Why don't you carry your ke-" but as soon as I saw who was at the door I just stopped. A smile made its way up to my lips and I threw myself at him. He wrapped his hands around my waist catching me in mid-air.
"Oh My Gosh! I didn't expect to see you for at least 12 more hours!" I said. He just looked at me and slowly put me down. "But I am still mad at you!" I said walking back inside. I felt him walk in and close the door. I sat down on the couch and he sat down beside me. "So am I going to get any explanation?" I asked as I gave him a once-over. He was in his signature black t-shirt, black jeans and a leather jacket. I could see any injuries at least on the outside.
"Done checking me out?" he asked smirking. "Shut up. I was just checking if you have any injuries!" I said. "Sure, Angel, Whatever helps you sleep at night!" he said. "So did you get the work done?" I asked. His eyes clouded with anger and rage at the question as if he was thinking about something.
I gently placed my hand on his. "Ash?" I whispered. He closed his eyes for a moment before opening them back up and now they were softer than before. I gave him a small smile. "Everything okay?" I asked. "How many times do I have to tell you, Kiara? It's none of your fu*ing business!" he said. But there was one thing different about it this time. He did not shout at me. His voice didn't raise an octave.
"Till you come to terms with it and decide to tell me," I said. "You will have to wait forever," he said angrily. Here we go. I just shrugged. I am willing to if it makes him feel any better. I don't know why but I felt like he needed me and I needed him. We needed each other as friends.
"So how did I get the privilege of seeing you so early?" I asked. "I heard you complaining to Blake on the phone. You seemed like you missed me," he said smirking. I am going to slap that smirk off his face someday! "Wait- You mean you listened to our conversation?!" I asked. He nodded and took the remote of the TV. I snatched it from him.
"You are such an idiot! You aren't supposed to eavesdrop on people's conversations!" I said. "Do you ever shut up? Like, don't do this don't do that. You are such a fu*king goody two shoes!" He snapped back. I sunk in my seat folding my hands against my chest.
"Can you at least offer me something to eat? I have come here directly from the airport!" he asked. Can he ever be polite? I stormed into the kitchen to make some pasta for our very own HULK!
"It's like there are no normal words just curse words! There are no words like please, hi, good night. Politeness might kill him! And he doesn't own a freaking phone! Messaging and Calling are for stupid people like us! We are complete idiots that we use these gadgets to communicate! Telling other people that he is okay is like a crime in his world!" I muttered as I stood in front of the stove boiling the pasta.
A few minutes later I served the mac and cheese on a plate and walked outside to see him soundly sleeping on the couch. I smiled he looked so carefree and calm when he was asleep. Unlike Mr Angry that went around all day! I placed the plate in front of him and brought in a glass of water and some coke.
As soon as I sat down about to wake him up he spoke, "For someone who doesn't curse you do back bitch a person a lot," his eyes still closed. He was eavesdropping again! "I was not. You spoke too loud and I have sensitive hearing," he said and finally opened his eyes. He was such a pain in the butt.
He looked at the food and grabbed a plate. "Where is yours?" he asked. I just lay down on the couch. "I am done eating," I said. "You mean the half bar of chocolate?" He asked pointing at the coffee table. I glared at him. "Just eat," I snapped. "So you sure there is no poison in this?" he asked. I just closed my eyes. I heard him eating the pasta but he didn't comment on how it was and I didn't expect him to.
"What kind of a way is it to entertain your guest?" He muttered anger in his voice. "Then what should I dance with you, my lord?" I asked mockingly. "Don't fu*king mock me!" he said. I opened my eyes and sat up. "You know it doesn't cost anything to be nice right?" I asked him. He just ignored me.
"Okay let's play something," I suggested. "Don't even think of fu*king saying truth or dare or 20 questions those are complete sh*ts," he said. "Okay... Umm... Then you suggest something," I offered. "Drink or Strip," he smirked. My heart started beating faster. I was not ready to see a male specimen naked or even half-naked. I took in a deep breath before answering.
"Are you sure? Don't you think you wouldn't be able to resist me once you see me?" I asked smirking which I am pretty sure looked something like a crooked smile. He leaned in just a few inches away from my face.
"Is that a challenge, Angel? Cause I am pretty sure I am not attracted to you. If I was, we wouldn't be in an empty house, dressed and eating mac and cheese. But the question is are you able to resist me?" he whispered huskily. I took in a deep breath and the smell of vanilla hit me. He slowly backed off.
And after a moment I realised what he said. "You!" I said hitting him with the pillow. "You are such a mean idiot! You just said I am not attractive!" I threw pillows at him. He dodged it with ease and a burst of beautiful laughter was heard. I froze me my place just staring at him his pearly white teeth full of display and his mouth open agape laughing.
The moment he realized I had stopped he regained his composure. His face went into its stoic position and his lips went into a thin line. But I couldn't take my eyes off him. The laughter I heard was by far the most beautiful one.
"I have to go," he said getting up. But I was still frozen in my place. He got up and started walking to the door when I grabbed his hand and pulled him to me hugging him. He didn't put his hands around me but I wasn't going to let go.
"You should laugh more often. It's the most beautiful sight I have ever seen," I whispered. His body tensed and I let go of him. "Thank you for coming to see me. Seeing you assured me. I don't know why I needed it but I did. See you in school tomorrow," I said as I tiptoed and kissed his cheek. He nodded curtly before waking out of the house.
I smiled as I heard his car reeve out of our driveway I grabbed the plate and placed it in the sink. I walked back to my room and wrapped myself in the blanket before going to sleep with a smile on my face that seemed to have disappeared over the past 12 days.
