Asher's POV :

I couldn't get over the kiss. I know it was only on the cheek. But it was like an assurance that I still had a chance. I can still make her heart flutter again. I can still be her number one. The love she always wanted. I want to give her everything she deserves. After the heartbreak and pain, I have given her. I can't let her go now. Never.

I know it's unsafe to be by my side. But Kiara makes me want to take that risk, cause I know I am going to protect her with all my life. I smiled as I closed the laptop only to see Blake and Christian standing there staring at me.

"What?" I asked getting up and wearing my jacket. "Why are you smiling like a weirdo?" Blake asked. "None of your business," I said. "Aww did Kiara give her daddy Ash a kiss?" Christian said, making me look at him shocked. "Wait what?" Blake asked.

"Don't you two have work to do?" I asked. "No this way is better," they said sitting down. "I am going to lock the office so you are welcome to stay," I said. "Well, I came to tell you we are having family dinner this Friday," Christian said, getting up as we all walked out of the room.

"And Allisa is inviting Kiara," he said. A smile made its way to me. "And why are you mentioning that specifically?" I asked. "So you don't fight with her?" he said, confused. "Don't worry that won't happen," I assured him. "Of course now that you know of your undying love for her, huh?" Blake said.

I didn't answer them as I walked to my car. I don't care what they say. I was and I knew it.

Kiara's POV :

I was almost done with work. "You want to come over for dinner?" Kyle asked. "I would love to see the kids, but I am exhausted," I said. "Yeah you look like it," he laughed. "Kyle, don't make me hit you," I said, getting up. "When is dinner at Allisa's?" he asked. "Tomorrow," I said as we walked out.

"Have fun," he said, kissing my forehead. "You are not going to ask?" I said. "I already know, I will cut him some slack after that talk. But when he decides to date you again I am going to punch the shit out of him," he said getting into his car.

When he dates you, not If he does. Kyle has more confidence in Asher than I thought. I was about to walk to my car when I saw there was another black car in the parking lot that I had never seen before. And it was almost 10 pm. I got into my car and as soon as I started it. I felt the other car start too. My heart started beating louder as I started to drive out of the parking lot. I took out my phone dialing the first number I could find.

"Kiara?'' His deep voice brought some soothing to me. "Ash, I think someone is following me," I said, trying to sound brave. "Baby, where are you?" he asked concern, lacing his voice. "Driving out of my office building. "Okay, I'm going to try and catch up to you. Can you make sure not to take a secluded turn?" he said.

"Umm-hmm?" I said as I saw the car still following me on the streets. "Be on the call okay?" he said. "Yeah," I said. "Are you driving your black Lamborghini?" he asked. "Yes." "I see you pull over to the big restaurant right on the next right turn okay?" he said. I took the right quickly pulling over. Only to see the Black car going straight.

Asher's car stopped right behind me and he got out of his car and I got out of mine running to him. He pulled me into his embrace. My nerves relaxed as I was engulfed in his warmth. I hugged him tighter.

After a minute when I pulled apart, he looked at me for any sign of injury. "What happened?" he asked. "I don't know for a while now I have had this feeling that somebody is following me, but I guess this car wasn't it," I sighed, still looking at where that car disappeared. "It's okay, even if it was a hallucination or even if this car wasn't following you, I am glad you called someone to make sure we knew where you were," he said, sighing.

"Yeah, I am fine now," I smiled softly. "You want me to drop you?" he asked. "No I'll be fine, it's late. I think you should go back too," I said. "Okay wait right here. He went to his car to get a water bottle. I looked at him confused. He opened my trunk and tossed it in. That water bottle has a voice transmitter and GPS. So if anything goes wrong I know where you are.

"That is not creepy at all," I laughed. "Well keep smiling," he said, kissing my forehead. "I'll pick you up for dinner tomorrow," he said as I walked to my car. "Okay," I said, getting into the car.

The next day work went by pretty fast. I was already dressed in a casual dress that went up to my knee and had laces on the back and I was wearing a blazer. I cranked my neck when my door barged open and Asher walked in. "Do you know not to barge into a COO's room?" I asked as he sat himself down. "Umm, geez first you look amazing, secondly why are you so pissed?" he asked.

"My work keeps on getting complicated," I sighed. "Okay, let me see," he says, walking behind me and bending to hold the mouse right above my hand. His big ones envelop mine. His face right beside mine made me feel all the warmth from his body. His scent engulfed me. His eyes scrunched up cutely and I couldn't help but stare.

He kept clicking through the screen but I wasn't paying any attention. All I wanted was to kiss him right here. The office make-out session sounded and looked great right now. "Done," he said, standing straight and looking at me. "Kiara, if you keep looking at me like that, I am going to kiss the fuck out of you," he warned. Please do.

"Umm, right," I laughed, getting up and taking off my blazer. "Is that an invitation?" he asked, looking me up and down. Maybe? "Asher," I warned. He groaned but pulled me against him, his hands around my back. "Please kiss me," he said. I looked at him closely, our faces inches apart. Our bodies couldn't be any closer. "You smell so fucking good right now," he breathed in. You do too.

I brought my lips a little closer to his. "Asher, I am going to hit you if you don't leave me right now," I whispered. He let me go reluctantly. "Okay, let's go," he said quickly, walking out of the room disappointed, making me smile.

I rushed into the almost half-filled elevator. Why were so many people on the top floor again? "You think I should get them some gift?" I asked, looking up at him. "What why?" he asked. "Because of curtsey?" I said. "Oh please," he rolled his eyes. The elevator stopped on a few floors and couldn't believe how cramped it was. I mean it was time for everyone to leave.

I stepped back a little only to stumble. A rough hand pulled me closer to a warm body, holding me still. I didn't need to know who it was. I was very familiar with these hands. "Thank you," I whispered. "You need bigger lifts, Angel, or maybe I like this," he whispered back. I could feel his smirk through the words.

As we reached the lobby a lot of the people got out. And I was about to step forward but his hand wouldn't budge. "Ash," I said, trying to get out of his grip. "I said I like this," he smirked. "I am going to kill you," I said looking up at him. "I'd like to see you try Angel," he smiled. "You are so cute I didn't know you were dating such a handsome man Kiara."

I looked at one of our oldest employees smiling at me. "Ms Wang, how are you?" I smiled. "Good, good to see you finally smiling and joking around," she smiled. "She has a beautiful smile, doesn't she?" Asher perked up. I elbowed him and he let me go. We all walked out of the elevator. "I know, she had lost it for a few years," she said, smiling sadly.

"And that would be my fault," he said looking at her. "I am assuming everything is okay now," she asked. "Could be better but I'm trying to win her love back," he smiled. "Cute," she said, pulling his cheek and making me laugh. We both bid goodbyes to her and Asher walked me to his car, opening the door for me.

He got in the driver's seat and we sped off. "I still think we should get them something," I said. "We don't have to get them shit" he growled. "Would it kill you to be nice?" I asked. "I am nice to you and that's the only nice I have," he said looking straight ahead. "Geez, what got your panties in a twist?" I murmured.

"Did you talk to Kyle about the business trip?" he asked. "Not yet, I will do it next week," I said. The ride was silent after that without us speaking anything when we pulled up at target. I looked at him smiling. "Five minutes," he said and I rushed out. As soon as I grabbed some wine and chocolates I stood in line at the cashier.

Asher stepped into the store and saw me in the line and walked toward me. "You are a great shopper," he said, impressed. I flipped my hair smiling at him. As I moved forward Asher removed his wallet. "I'm the guest," I said, scanning the items. "And I don't care," he said, handing his card. The drive back was way shorter than I expected.

As soon as we walked Allisa hugged me. "Well you look happy," I smiled, handing her the chocolates while Asher handed her the wine. "You brought gifts?" she asked, looking Asher up and down. "Don't push it," he said walking in.

"So how have you been?" She started and we kept talking, catching up on stuff until it was time for dinner.

Asher and Christian walked in with Kai and Blake following behind them. "Auntie!" He shouted as he ran to me and I picked him up. "How are you?" I smiled. "I'm good, you know how I got to school?" he asked. I did know. "Really?" I asked putting him in his seat as he babbled about his day.

"He likes you," Asher said, coming behind me. "Umm-hmm, at least somebody does," I smirked. "Come on, you know how much I like you," he smirked. I pushed him away to go help Allisa. "What the fuck was that?" she asked. "Aren't pregnant women not supposed to curse?" I asked her. "Was Asher being nice and cuddly?" she smirked. "You need to stop hanging out with Christian you are starting to act like him!" I said.

She just winked at me and walked out. As I took a seat beside Kai on his demands Asher filled the seat in front of me. "Auntie, can I ask you something?" Kai asked, talking in a whisper making me look at him. "Do you like Uncle Asher?" he whispered, making Asher look at us. "No," I whispered back only for him to sulk.

"She is mean isn't she?" Asher asked. "I actually like her," Kai said, poking his tongue out. "You have turned my best man against me, Kiara," he said. The conversation followed as Christian asked about how my work was going while Blake wanted us to go to a club.

"You know I think it's getting late," I said looking up at the watch. It was almost 11 pm. "Yeah let's go," Asher said getting up. "And I thought we were going to discuss business?" Blake smirked. "I will kick your ass, go home," Asher growled. I hugged everyone goodbye. "I'll see you soon!" I said to Allisa. "And don't have sex in the car you two," she warned.

I glared at her while we walked out. The ride home was pretty silent. And as we pulled up to my building I looked at Asher. He was looking straight ahead. When I got out of the car he did too. "So," I said looking at him. "I don't like that I can't see you every day," he muttered. "Is it?" I laughed. He pulled me closer by my waist.

"I hate it," he said. I leaned in and pecked his lips real quick. "That would suffice for now?" I asked pulling away. He just stared at me. "Did you just kiss me?" he asked. "Don't push it," I said, trying to imitate him. "Can I return the favor?" he asked. "Nope, 'cause it's not going to be a peck," I said.

He smiled at me. "Good night," he said before I walked into the apartment building. Going to sleep with a small smile on my face.
