Chapter 28: Spontaneity
Jamie's POV
I held Alex's hand, tightly, as we walked up onto the stage for the start of the meeting.
"Are you okay?" Alex whispered to me.
I nodded, looking out at the crowd of people who were sitting in front of the stage. Matthew and Jack walked up after us and they stood at the podium.
"If you need to leave, then we can. I know there's a lot of people all at once and you just got home, it's a lot." He whispered to me.
"I-I'm okay." I told my mate, smiling up at him as we stood to the side of the alphas.
Matthew cleared his throat before looking up at the crowd. His eyes were their violet and I assumed that it was because it was close to the full moon. "There has been a lot going on within our pack lately, but we wanted to take a minute and mourn the losses of the people in our pack. The families who have lost someone due to the fight with the hunters are in our prayers."
I tightened my grip on Alex's hand and he pulled me into a hug as my eyes watered. This was my fault. I did this. I shouldn't have listened to Xavier and went with him to the mall that day. I should've stayed with Alex and we should've figured something out together.
"You're okay." Alex whispered to me as I cried into his chest. He hid me behind the alphas, so not that many people could see us. I listened as Matthew named the people who died when they were trying to get me back and I collapsed into Alex's arms.
I felt hands on my back and I knew that it was Jack who was trying to comfort me while Matthew was talking. "This is not your fault, Jamie. You went with your gut and we couldn't be prouder of you to go with what you believe in."
I shook my head against Alex's chest and he sighed. "Princess, it's not your fault. Believe me, it's our fault. We didn't believe you, so you had to take matters into your own hands."
I pulled away from Alex's chest and sighed, wiping my face. "I just wish I had stayed and we could've figured something out."
"We've talked about this," Alex whispered, caressing my face. "that's in the past and we shouldn't dwell on it."
"Yeah, there's no point in feeling guilty about something that we can't change." Jack told me. He gave me a soft smile before moving back over to Matthew who was still talking at the podium.
"Are you okay?" Alex asked me.
"I don't know." I whispered, rubbing my eyes with the palms of my hands.
"...but the thing we are most proud of is that we got our beta back," Matthew said, turning towards me. I walked towards him with Alex behind me and smiled as the crowd clapped and cheered. "it was a hard thing to do, but we were determined to bring Jamie back to us safe and sound."
I smiled at him as Alex's hands wrapped around my waist and he kissed the top of my head. Matthew reached over and gave me a big hug. "Thank you." I whispered in his ear.
Matthew put his hand up to silence the crowd and it was an instant thing. "We appreciate everyone's help in fighting off the hunter pack and bringing our beta home safely."
As he ended the meeting with a few more words about the pack members who are gone, Alex searched the crowd for Gavin and Benji because I still haven't seen them since I had gotten back. He pointed towards the crowd as people were walking away and there were two bodies running towards the stage.
I ran down the stairs and met them in their arms in a group hug. "Jamie..." Benji whispered, hiding his face in my neck.
"Hi, baby, hi." I whispered to him, kissing his cheek before kissing Gavin's. We pulled away from the hug and Benji had tears running down his face.
"Hey, you." Gavin whispered, running his hand down my upper arm.
"Oh my gosh, hi." I said, out of breath from all of the emotions. I pulled Benji into his own hug and rocked him back-and-forth.
"I'm so happy you're here."
"I'm happy I'm here too, Ben, now no more crying and being sad. I'm okay and I don't plan on ever leaving you two again."
"You promise?" He whispered, looking up at me.
Gavin answered before I could. "If he leaves again, then we'll know that it's not his own decision."
I felt Alex's hand go to my back and he pulled me close to his body. "If he leaves again, then I promise you that we'll get him back just like we did this time."
I felt my eyes water and I turned away from all of them, walking a few feet away. I covered my face with my hand and Alex wrapped his body around mine from behind.
"What's wrong, princess?" He whispered into my ear before kissing my cheek.
"It's all my fault, I'm so sorry!" I cried, burying my head in my hands. I heard movement in front of me and I knew Benji and Gavin were now standing in front of me.
"It's not your fault, Jamie. You thought he wouldn't act so fast to take you, so you went with him to try and learn more information about what he was planning to do." Gavin told me.
Alex kissed my neck, softly. "It's okay, baby. I know it's a lot to think about, but just know that none of this is your fault. There was no way we could've stopped it because he was obviously going to do something anyways."
I turned around in Alex's arms and dig my head in his chest. His grip is tight on me as he rocks me back-and-forth. I feel my eyes watering up again and he holds me even closer.
"You're okay," he whispers. "I know it's a lot, but you are okay."
"Hey, guys." Matthew said, putting his hand on my shoulder. I flinched away from him, pulling away from Alex.
I put my hand over my chest as the panic was making my heart beat faster than normal. I looked up at Matthew who had wide eyes and he had his hands put up, like I had just accused him of something.
"I-I'm so sorry." I whispered to him.
"It's okay, Jamie. You're still trying to get used to everything again, I understand." Matt told me.
Alex walked up to me, slowly. "Are you okay, princess?"
I shook my head, my eyes watering again and in that moment, I truly felt weak. I felt like I had nothing anymore, like I was being controlled by everyone around me.
"You have me, Jamie. You don't have nothing anymore, you have me and all of our friends," he whispered into my ear. "and you have control, baby. You do what you feel will make you feel comfortable."
"I need you, Alex." I whispered back to him.
"You have me."
"You promise?" I asked.
"Yes, baby, I promise. You have me, no matter what."
"Everything okay?" Matthew asked us.
Alex turned toward him and nodded. "We're okay, but I think we're going to leave camp for a little bit."
"And go where?" I whispered to him.
"Let's go to dinner and get our minds off of everything." He told me.
I smiled up at him and nodded. Everyone smiled at us as we walked towards the parking lot where most people parked in the camp. Once we got to his white Ford Escape 2016, he pushed me against the side of it.
"Jamie, I love you so much. I'm so sorry that all of this shit has happened to us, but none of this is going to change how I feel for you. I need you to know that and remember that."
I smiled at him and he leaned down, giving me a passionate kiss. Once he pulled away, I gripped the back of his neck, pulling his lips back to mine. It soon turned into a make out session and he gripped my thighs, picking me up so I wrapped my legs around his waist.
He turned around, so he pushed me against the side of his car. My arms snaked around his neck as our tongues rubbed against each others. I felt myself start to get hard and once he pulled away, I knew he felt it.
He smirked at me. "Is my mate a little excited?"
"I miss you, babe." I whispered, blushing slightly.
"I miss you too, princess."
"C-can we have sex tonight?" I whispered to him.
He smirked again. "Do you want to?"
"Yes."
"Then yes, we will."
I kissed him once more, before jumping down from his arms and getting into his car. Once he started driving, he placed his hand in mine. I looked over at him and smiled, squeezing his hand.
"I love you so much, Alex." I whispered.
"I love you too, baby."
We got to some Italian restaurant and we sat at a booth where he sat next to me instead of across from me. Once we ordered food and drinks, he looked over at me with a smile.
"How are you feeling?"
"I'm okay. I just freaked out a little bit earlier today." I told him.
"Yeah, I know, but that's understandable, baby." He told me.
His hand was rubbing my thigh and I knew he was trying to tease me for tonight. His hand moved higher up and because it's been so long, I was already getting super hard. I tried to push his hand away, but it wouldn't budge as it kept moving higher.
"Alex, stop, please." I said, sweat forming on my forehead.
"You like it though." He whispered into my ear, nibbling on it.
I gasped when I felt his hand started to unbutton my pants. I grabbed his hand and he looked up at me. "Not here!"
"Yes, here. You deserve it, my princess." He whispered, moving the table cloth, so it covered everything as he pulled me out of my pants. I closed my eyes, setting my head against the back of the booth.
His hand started to pump me, slowly, which was making me creep closer towards my limit. I gripped Alex's arm, trying to control my body from bucking my hips up into his hand.
I gasped when I saw the waiter start to walk over with our food and I started to pull on Alex's arm to try and make him remove it, but he still wouldn't budge.
"Alex, stop, stop, please!" I cried.
The waiter walked up to the table and Alex sped his hand up. I knew you couldn't see what he was doing, but I just felt like the man knew. He set our plates in front of us and smiled down at us.
"Can I get you two anything else?" He asked, politely.
"Yeah, I think we're going to need some extra napkins." Alex said and I had to hold in my chuckle.
"Yes, sir, I'll be right back with those." The waiter said, walking away, and that's when I started to feel the tears start to well up in my eyes from the immense pleasure.
"Oh, fuck, I'm close." I whispered, gripping his arm tighter, kinda've bucking my hips up.
"Come for me, baby." He whispered into my ear.
I bit my lip from moaning out as I let go. My nails dug into Alex's arm and I rested my head on his shoulder. I heard something being placed on the table and I looked up and saw the waiter with the napkins.
Alex's finger skimmed my tip again and I accidentally moaned out a bit. The waiter gave me a strange look and Alex coughed out his chuckle. "Thank you." He told him.
I set my head back and he grabbed the napkins, starting to clean me up under the table. Once I was situated, he wiped my tears and sweat away and ran his hand through my hair.
"How was that, baby?" He asked me.
"It was exciting, actually."
He smiled. He grabbed my hand and placed over my erratic beating heart. "You feel more than alive, don't you?"
"Absolutely."
"That's spontaneity and that's what makes your heart beat faster. That's what gives you a new perspective of how you live and that's what we need, baby."
I smiled. "I love you, darling."
"I love you too, princess. Let's eat and go home and have even more fun, okay?" He asked with a huge smile.
"Okay."
