Chapter 27: Seeing Mom

Alex's POV

I knocked on Matthew's door and he called me in. Once I stepped in, he stood up. "Is he doing okay?"

"He's a little shaken up, but he'll be okay." I told him and his mate who sat on the bed with his legs crossed underneath him.

"Does he need anything?"

"I think he doesn't want to see that many people who he doesn't have an emotional connection with. Like he doesn't want to see elders or anybody close to that."

"Okay, we can make that happen. We have more guards on the gates than ever before, so tell him that so he feels safer."

"I will, but I need my parents to stay somewhere else because I don't think we would like if they were there in the house because he needs major privacy."

"Okay, I'll talk to them for you."

"How are you doing, Alex?" Jack asked me.

"I-I'm okay. I want to be there for him, but I also don't know how to be there for him. He was with someone who was super controlling of him and he completely forgot about me. I don't blame him for a second, but I just wish I knew how to help him."

"Just be there for him. Comfort him in ways other can't. Don't be controlling towards him and make sure he knows that everything he does is determined by him and not by you." Matt told me.

I nodded. "Okay."

"Just tell us if he needs anything else, okay? We wanna be there for him in anyway that we can."

"I will. Thank you for everything, guys. It means the world to him and me."

"Anytime."

"I need to get back, so I'll see you guys tomorrow." I told them before leaving the office after giving them hugs. I started walking back to my house, running a hand through my hair.

Why did this have to happen to us? Jamie is the sweetest person ever and he doesn't deserve any of this pain. Just because some guy was jealous of his fucking relationship. It doesn't make sense.

Halfway home, I felt extreme emotions coming from Jamie and I knew he needed me that second. I ran as fast as I could and I got him within two minutes and the emotions were getting worse.

I ran into my room and Jamie was shaking on my bed. He had his arms wrapped around his body and his whole body was pale with sweat, but it was also freezing cold.

"I'm here, princess. Tell me what happened." I told him, pulling him into my arms.

He didn't get anything out, he just started sobbing into my chest. I rubbed his back as I held him closer to me as his tears soaked my white t-shirt.

"I know, Jamie, I know. This is hard to deal with, but we're going to get past it together. I promise."

"So much has happened since we got together and I just wanna be with you; only you." He whispered, tightening his grip on my shirt in his hands.

"You don't have to with anyone else anymore. You're going to stay here with me forever and ever and we're going to live happily ever after."

"You promise?" He whispered.

"Absolutely."

"I wanna see my mom." He told me, standing up from the bed.

"Okay, let me give her a call and she can come over to-"

"I wanna go over there."

I paused. "Okay, do you wanna go alone or-"

"I need you to go there with me. Let's go see my mom and then go to sleep there. The sun's about to set anyways and I'm super tired. I wanna be at home, is that okay?"

"Of course, princess."

I grabbed all of the stuff we would need for the night, like extra clothes and Jamie's phone and stuff like that. I wrapped my arm around his waist as we started making our way down the street in the camp to Jamie's house.

People waved at him with sympathetic smiles as we walked on the sidewalk and I felt happy to have him home. This is what I wanted. I wanted him to be home and by my side as we went to do regular things as regular couples should do.

Jamie pushed open the front door and Ms. Nance sat on the couch with her phone in her hand as she stared at the floor. I had told her that I would tell her when she could come see her son because I knew he would need some time alone with me before he could see too many people.

"Baby!" She yelled, shooting off the couch. She ran over to him and engulfed him in a huge hug. They circled around and I saw Jamie's face. He had his eyes closed, but there were tears running down his face from seeing his mother again. His hands gripped her shirt in the palms of his hands like he never wanted to let her go again.

"I missed you so much, Mom." He whispered, running one of his hands through her hair to soothe her nerves because he could tell that her heartbeat was fast.

"I missed you so much too, Jamie." Ms. Nance said, then moved away from him, so she could look at him. She held him by his upper arms and looked at his skinny, frail body.

"I'm okay, I promise." Jamie whispered to her.

She looked over at me and I nodded. "He's okay. He had a gun shot wound to his upper calf, but it has healed and the ache should be gone within a couple more hours. His mental health is okay, he's just sensitive because of the whole ordeal."

She nodded, smiling up at her son. "I'm so glad you came home safe. I know I should've believed you and I am so sorry that I didn't. I'm sorry none of us believed you."

"Don't worry about it, Mom. It's a hard thing to believe, I still don't. He has been in our lives for so long that we thought he would never hurt us, okay? None of us could've possibly thought he would go through this much trouble to have me."

His mother let out a frustrated sigh. "But you did know, Jamie! You tried to tell us and none of us believed you!"

"Ms. Nance, it's okay. I know it's a hard thing to deal with because I honestly didn't believe him either, but now we know that everyone we have in our lives isn't looking for us to be safe. But the only things that matters right now is that he's healthy and he's back with us." I told her.

She nodded, tears in her eyes. "You're right, you're right. My baby's back and we're going to cherish that for the rest of our lives. You two sit down and get comfortable. I'll make us some dinner and then we all should go a get some rest. We can pick this up tomorrow."

I nodded, running my hand through Jamie's hair. "That sounds good. Thank you, ma'am."

I sat Jamie on my lap and he looked down at me with a smile. He sighed and kissed me, softly. "Tell me what I've missed since I've been gone."

"Nothing really happened. We all basically spent every moment looking for you."

He looked down and nodded. "What about Gavin and Benji? How are they?"

"We'll go see them tomorrow after the pack meeting."

He gave me a confused look. "Pack meeting?"

"Yeah, Matthew wants to have one because a few of our members were killed in the fight and we wanted to mourn for the families' losses. We also wanted to tell the pack that you're back and healthy."

He smiled. "Okay."

I ran my hand up-and-down his back and he shivered in response. I cleared my throat. "What did Xavier do with you?" I whispered.

He looked away from my eyes and I knew he was ashamed of what had happened. "We fucked, obviously."

"Before he took away your memory?" I asked, needing to know.

"Yes because I knew that I needed to earn his trust to find a way to escape. I'm sorry, Alex. I know I shouldn't have, but I was thinking about us and-" He cried.

"It's okay, it's okay. I understand why you did it, princess. You were thinking about our future together. You were protecting yourself and I could never be mad about that."

I rubbed my thumb on the side of his cheek as he calmed himself down. "Right, right."

"Just calm down. We don't need to think about these things if you don't want to. We'll do everything that makes you comfortable, okay?"

"O-okay."

His mom walked out of the kitchen with two bowls in her hand and she handed one to each of us. "Go up in your room and eat it. You two can just leave the dishes up there, so you can sleep right away. We'll talk more in the morning."

She motioned for her son and he stood up, handing the bowl to me. They gave each other an extra long, strong hug. Jamie sighed into her shoulder. "It's so good to be back."

"It's so good to have you back." His mom whispered, kissing his cheek.

I guided Jamie to his room and he breathed in the scent as we walked in. I gave him his bowl and instructed him to eat. I walked over to his 'closet', which was really only a pole with hangup clothes and shelves with his pants.

"What do you want to change into, baby?"

He looked up at me as he chewed his food and he coughed a little bit. "Can you get me the pink sweatpants and the black shirt that's all the way on the end?"

I grabbed the items and I noticed that the shirt that he made me get was actually mine and it said 'IVEY' on the back in white letters from when I played baseball in freshmen year.

We both changed into our clothes and I noticed that he had picked out some really, really tight sweatpants, which showed off his bulge. I stared at him for a little bit too long and he chuckled. "Like what you see, darling?"

"I love it." I whispered, trying to calm my emotions down.

"Eat, you horn dog." He told me, pushing my bowl of pasta closer to me. Once we were done eating, I turned on his fan and turned off the light. I climbed into the spot next to him and held him close to my body.

"I'm really happy that you're home, Jamie. I don't know what I would've done without you."

He looked up at me and sighed. "I just wish I wouldn't have gone with him."

I sighed, running my hand through his hair. "That's in the past now. We don't have any reasons to think about that anymore."

"How was he able to do that though?" He asked, turning to face me in my arms.

"Erase your memories of me?" I asked.

"Yeah, it just doesn't make sense."

"Let's just say that he got a very powerful elder to do his dirty work. I don't fully understand it myself, but I know that it must take a lot of power to be able to erase the spirit's decisions from someone's mind."

He brought his hand up to his head, rubbing in between his eyes. "It's a lot to think about."

"Alright, let's not think about it then." I told him, kissing him.

"Can we go to sleep?"

"Of course." I told him, pulling the covers over us even more and set his head on my chest.

"I love you, Alex."

"I love you too, princess."
