Chapter 10: They're Here

Jamie's POV

I woke up in the morning to hear someone walking around the room. I was sleeping in Alex's room and he was supposed to be too, but I guess he was already awake. I looked up and saw Alex looking through his drawers.

"Babe, what're you doing?" I asked, sitting up.

"They're here." He whispered, not turning around to look at me.

I got up, walking over to him. "Who's here?"

It was 7:30 and I don't know why he would be awake this early. He had dark circles under his eyes, so I know that he's tired. He shook his head, walking over to his closet. Was he looking for something?

"They're going to find me." He whispered to me.

"Who's going to find you?" I asked.

He completely ignored me. He ran out of his bedroom, letting the door slam back on the wall. I followed him out in a quick pace and saw him enter the kitchen. We were the only ones awake, obviously, and I was terrified. I didn't know what was going on.

I watched in horror as he opened the knife drawer and started to look at them. That's when it hit me.. it's his disorder that's doing this. He wasn't in his head. He wasn't himself.

"Cody! Melissa!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.

"Shut up!" Alex yelled at me, then slammed me against the wall. My head bounced back, so it hit the wall really hard. I was dizzy and I couldn't see straight. I saw people run in and walk over, slowly, to Alex.

"Jamie!" Izzy, his sister, said, running over to me. She gripped my arm and helped me stand up. I stumbled backwards, but she caught me.

I looked over at Alex and Cody was holding him in his lap as he sobbed into his hands. My heart hurt at the sight, but I didn't know what to do. Melissa looked over at me and motioned me over. I stumbled towards her until she grabbed my arm to steady me.

"Jamie, you've never seen this before, have you?" She asked me, motioning to her son.

"Never." I whispered.

"This happens when Alex's medicine stops working. It's usually a gradual thing. Have you noticed him a little off lately?"

"I don't know. I've been working pretty late the past week. Fuck, I could've noticed this earlier." I said, putting my head in my hands.

"Jamie, no, don't blame yourself. It's not your fault." Melissa said, gripping my arm tighter.

"What do we do now?" I whispered to her.

"We called Dr. Moore and he's going to admit him into the hospital."

"What part of the hospital?" I whispered, tears forming in my eyes.

"It depends on how bad he is. He might have to be admitted into the psych ward." She said, tears falling down her face.

"Fuck." I whispered.

I watched as they took my mate to the pack hospital. We all followed them and sat in the waiting room while they checked him out. Melissa made me get my head checked out and they said that I was okay.

"Jamie, are you doing okay?" Cody asked me.

I shook my head, putting my head in my hands. I felt arms wrap around me and I cried into Cody's arms. He rubbed my back as I cried for his son. I didn't hear the footsteps, but when I heard Dr. Moore's voice, I looked up.

"Hey, guys. Alex's okay, so don't worry about that. We're going to switch his medicine to something a little stronger, but that's it. We need him to stay for two nights to see how his body reacts to the drug, okay?"

We all nodded and they all stood up, so I stood with them. Dr. Moore walked over to me and a flashback came rushing back to me.

"Jamie, your dad didn't make it. He died in the operating room."

I backed away from him, shaking my head. He held his hands out. "Jamie, you're okay."

Cody, Melissa, and Izzy turned to look at me. They didn't know what was going on, but I knew that Dr. Moore did. That day was the worst day I've ever had. The day my father died.

"What's wrong?" Melissa asked me.

"His father." was all Dr. Moore said.

"Oh, Jamie, I'm so sorry." Cody whispered.

"It was this waiting room too." I said, looking around.

"Yes, I know." Dr. Moore said.

"I know this will be hard on both of you, but you need to stay strong."

I sat myself down in one of the chairs and started sobbing into my hands. Dr. Moore set his hand on my shoulder and I flinched back. "Don't touch me."

He nodded. "Okay, okay, I won't touch you."

"Everything will be okay."

Dr. Moore looked over at Alex's family and sighed. "Ask a nurse where his room is and they'll take you to him. Tell him that Jamie will be in soon."

They nodded and left. He looked back at me. I sighed. "I can't lose anyone else."

"I know, Jamie, but your mate is fine. He's okay. It's just his medicine that needs change."

I sighed and he handed me a tissue. I wiped my tears and let out a shaky breath. "O-okay."

"Do you need a minute?" He asked me.

"I want to be alone with Alex, is that too much to ask from them?"

"I don't know. Wait here and I'll go ask, okay?" He asked. I nodded and watched as he walked out of the waiting room. I looked around. The chair closest to the hallway was where I was sitting when my father was in surgery.

My mom sat next to me and she refused to let go of my hand. I shook my hand out in that moment. It was like I could feel her squeezing it now with her werewolf strength. I shook my head. It's not real. I'm okay.

"Jamie?" A nurse asked me. I looked up and she motioned for me to follow her. I followed her down long hallways until we came in front of a door. Cody, Melissa, Izzy, and Dr. Moore stood there.

"We want you to be alone with him for the night. He's your mate and we know that you need to comfort him right now. Just make sure you sleep, okay?" Melissa said.

"Okay." I whispered.

They all gave me hugs before leaving. They must've already said bye to their son. I looked at the doctor and he motioned for the door before walking away. I breathed out before opening the door. Alex's head shot up and he smiled at me. He was sitting up in bed with his phone in his hand.

"Hey, Jamie." He whispered.

I walked over to him and hugged him, tightly. "You're okay."

"Yeah, I'm okay." He said, rubbing my back to help soothe me.

I felt tears sting my eyes and I hugged him even tighter. "Fuck, you scared me."

"I'm so sorry, Jamie. I thought I was okay."

I pulled away from him and caressed his face. "Don't you dare apologize. This is not your fault, sweetheart. I just didn't know what was happening, okay?"

He nodded, trying to give me a soft smile. "Okay."

"Do you want to sleep?" I whispered to him, running my hands through his hair. His eyes were starting to droop and I knew he was tired from the dark circles under his eyes.

"Yes."

"Alex?" I whispered.

"Yeah, baby?"

"I love you."

He looked up at me with wide eyes and I realized that I could've made a big mistake saying it. I just felt it in my whole body and I was so terrified to lose him. He reached over, hugging me to his body again.

"I love you too."

I let out a sigh of relief and laid down with him in bed. "Go to sleep, darling. I'll be here when you wake up."

"Thank you, Jamie." He said before drifting off to sleep. I let my hands roam along his whole body, looking for any visible injuries on him.

I saw the IV in his arm, which was the liquid version of his medicine. It gives it to his body faster than a pill would, which is what they wanted to see how he would react to it faster. I looked at my mate as I drifted off to sleep.

I woke up to feel Alex shaking me. I looked up at him and he looked extremely pale. "What's wrong?"

"I'm gonna throw up." He whispered, holding his stomach.

I shot up and grabbed the pink tub thing and set it in front of him. He leaned over it and started to cough. I rubbed his back as a nurse came in. She looked at him for a second before leaving the room. A minute later, Dr. Moore walked in.

Alex was done throwing up, but he wasn't moving from his position. Dr. Moore handed him a napkin. "How're you feeling, Alex?"

"Like shit." He whispered, leaning back in the bed. I grabbed the pink tub and set it on the ground a few ways away. I tried to sit in the chair next to the bed, but Alex pulled me to lay next to him. I let my hands run through his hair to calm him down.

"Do you feel dizzy or have a headache?"

"Both." He whispered.

"Those are side affects of the medicine, so it means you're reacting to it. That's good."

"Me in pain is good?" Alex snapped.

"Babe, stop. That's not what he meant." I whispered.

He looked up at me and nodded. "Okay."

"Get some more sleep, Alex. I'll be back to check up on you in about an hour." Dr. Moore said and left the room.

I pulled him closer to my body and ran my fingers through his hair, scratching his scalp. He sighed in contentment and let his eyes slowly shut.

"Go to sleep, darling." I whispered and kissed his forehead.

it's a boring chapter so I apologize :)
