The next morning only one was the first to be awake.

Obviously Jungkook.

He laid there patiently waiting until the other woke up again. Staring at him from time to time. He was so mesmerized by the merman.He looked so delicate so... Unreal in a way.

His beautiful shimmering skin, with a slight scale patterns that was visible on some spots. He just... He could watch it again and again.
But it would be better if he could just.....Touch it, feel the warm skin under his palms. Holding it with both hands-

Jungkook softly cleared his own throats and quickly averted his thoughts to something else.

The sound of him doing that shook the merman awake. He was on the edge of waking up and sleeping, so when he heard the noise he shook awake.

"oh, did I startle you? Sorry" Jungkook quickly apologized. "i didn't mean to wake you up like that"

"It's fine. I don't want to sleep too late" Taehyung said while he stretched himself out and scooted closer to Jungkook, taking his spot back against him. His safe spot. Being close to him or in his arms are the moments he felt the safest. As if he is in a bubble and nothing can touch him.

And he was, that was the safest place he could be. Because the vampire would never let anything happen to him. As long he is around he will make sure of that.

"Is there something you want to eat for breakfast?"

"Do you have more of that... Ca... Cake thing from before?" Taehyung asked not sure if that was the right name for it.

"You can not eat cake all day, and its not a good breakfast to have. According to humans that is."

"oh, thats a shame." The merman pouted. "You have fresh fish???"

"ah... No. But I could go buy some?" Jungkook just wanted to be of service, but the merman was making it difficult. "i can go to the store in the city-"

"no no, that's alright. I will go hunt my own food later. I don't need anything right now, just something you have left is fine. You shouldn't go out in the sun."

"But-"

"really, its alright." Taehyung smiled and sushed the other. He just felt like doing so. He doesn't want the vampire to get hurt because he sends him outside into the sun.

"Fine, then at least let me set the table for you. I will prepare something with what i have, in the meantime you can use the bathroom. I will go later when you're finished." Jungkook placed a peck on the white hairs of the merman before he left the bed.

"okay"

And that's what they did. Taehyung went to use the bathroom where he got himself ready, changing back into the same pair of clothes aside from the underwear. He then went downstairs and joined Jungkook at the table. Looking at the plate that was decorated so cutely.

There was a simple sandwich with cheese and one with ham. Spread around the bread were rose petals shaping a heart.

"ahw, a heart"

Jungkook smiled. He did well it seems. He wasn't fond of doing such things at first. But it felt so good to do such things. To be kind, seeing the smile on Taehyung's face each time made Jungkook feel so good.

Maybe being a kind person wasn't so bad....

They spend the whole day together again. Taehyung explored the book shelves with him and told Jungkook to read anything interesting to him since he can't read all that.

And Jungkook of course could not decline.

They had a lot of fun and good times, sadly those always come to an end when their ways part for the next night.

So Jungkook stood in his garden with no sun covering since it was already dark. His eyes looked at the merman that was already in the water.

"soooo, will you come back here tomorrow same time? I will wait for you here" Jungkook said. He already missed him. Its so silent when taehyung wasn't around.

"Of course. I will be here anytime you call me. Unless I am veeeery far into dreamland. But that doesn't happen often, we are prey so we naturally stay alert, even in our sleep."

"then, i will see you tomorrow my love"

"ahw" the merman melted at the name. "Yes, see you tomorrow. Goodnight Jungkook"

"night" The vampire smiled and watched the other swim away before he turned around to go black inside. Inside he dropped the clothes taehyung wore in the wash bin.

He had plans for tonight, nothing too special.
So after a while Jungkookeft the house again and went outside. He wants to get fresh air, maybe he will even run into some fresh blood on the way. Who knows.

Its not like everytime he goes out he needs to feed on blood. He just likes doing so, but since he had been granted to feed from Taehyung... The thought of biting someone else felt less... Interesting.

Eating them is a different story, that makes him already hungry. But feeding from their blood felt less satisfying than to think of holding the merman in his arms and lovingly drink his blood.
The corners of his lips curled into a smile while he walked over the path. He loves Taehyung so much. He wants to see and love him everyday.

It's not like he isn't familiar with things like this, he is, counted in human years, very.. Very old. His parents were very happy together. Both vampires who loved until the end, he had seen care and he had experienced it. But nothing lasted. He wasn't going to ever do love again, especially not after his parents got killed and he saw what love can do when one side breaks and fades away. He had seen the pain his mother went through when father was killed, enduring only to be killed later in her own home.

Jungkook became more isolated after that. Having to feel the hurt of outliving everyone he knew was already a lot. But seeing how love can end and cause pain he decided to just not have anything anymore. It was best to stay alone and never get close to anyone.

But Taehyung.... He just showed up and melted away all the walls Jungkook made. Changing his thoughts from never wanting it to only wanting him forever.

Jungkook can endure it one last time....

"i got to pee '' a sudden voice caught his ear. By now he had arrived at the edge of the city. The forest and the stone buildings were next to each other.

Jungkook slowed down and stepped into the dark shadows. Disappearing from sight, only his glowing eyes were visible.

"dude, we are positioned here until we get the word. No potty breaks" a new voice. So that means that there are at least two.

"just give me a second I will be right back"

"no, no way you are going to pee right now. Boss will ground us for the next few weeks! We're going to be in trouble."

Jungkook grinned. Trouble when one wants to pee. Both not knowing they are already in life threatening danger. A vampire right behind them around the corner. Ready to have fun, and Jungkook was about to, he made a movement to step into sight but they started talking again.

"Does it take this long to capture a mer creature?" One asked, sounding impatient.

"probably. I assume they are fast swimmers. But they did it before, it shouldn't be impossible"

"why can't we go on location. Why do we have to stay here in the city. This is boring, ugh"

"once we get the word we can leave the post, we have to assure no curious people enter the forest."

Jungkook frowned. So they were guarding? The hunters were chasing a mer creature, this isn't good. If it's from these waters then that means jungkook might be able to step in. Taehyung would be happy if he did so. The merman would be sad if he heard another of his kind have been killed.

So the vampire jumped around the corner and hit the crossbow out of their hands, pinning one against the wall by the neck while he held the other on distance with a daring finger pointed at him.

"You stay there or i will eat your neck off while you are alive." Jungkook threatened. Well it wasn't a threat, they are promises. "well now, care to tell me about this creature your hunter team is capturing?"

"no-ahhhhgh!" the man grabbed Jungkook's arms when he felt his neck getting squeezed. The vampire's nails digging into his skin.

"wait, don't kill him. They uh... They are in the forest, they say they found a merman there. But we don't know if they actually got it or not. They were just sightings from other hunters. There, that's all we know!"

"forest? Where??" Jungkook frowned and looked at the other man that was willing to speak.

"I don't know, something with a house and water near it. I swear we don't know the details!"

Jungkook suddenly felt a wave of fear go through him when he heard that. He dropped the man he had pinned to the wall and ran off. Halfway the street he shifted into his bat to go faster.

When he reached home he was feeling shaky. Quickly he jumped over his small wooden fence and ran into the garden. Passing the blooming roses and sunflowers. All the way until he reached the water.

And there he slowed down until he stopped... Completely frozen.

The flower pots that stood near the water were knocked over and broken, soil had fallen onto the ground, the flower trampled by footsteps. Unknown footsteps that left prints in the sand. But that wasn't all....

The thing that shocked him the most was the red color... The red trail that came from the water and went up over the sand, following the footsteps. A trail of blood and water.

Jungkook's dead heart dropped and he sank on his knees, hands shaking from this overwhelming feeling.... He had never felt like the before.

"Taehyung?.... My love?...."

He called for him. But there was no reply back..
