A much older Shadow, was holding a picture of himself when he was a hoglet with his Mother holding him in his arms.

Shadow looked up at the sky that had turned into a crimson red color, he growls to himself as he shoved the picture into his coat pocket, he knew who his mother was...thanks to Gerald telling him stories about him, but never who his father was, but he had some ideas thanks to G.U.N running tests on him when they first found him after they shot his best friend.

"Shadow! We can us some help in Empire City!"

"I'm on my way Rouge" Shadow replied to his communicator before bolting off at high speed towards the city that was being invaded by Black Arm Aliens.

Mephiles was watching from the side lines, a silver ring on his finger as he glanced over at his husband, who was getting ready.

Scourge was putting on his leather jacket, to hide the vine tattoos that are on his arms he shifted his gaze over to his husband and nuzzles him lovely. "I'll be care...I promise"

"It's not you I'm worry about...it's Black Doom, he probably knows you're alive and that he didn't kill you" Mephiles admits.

Scourge only shook his head, "This is for Shadow...Meph, and as long as he believes that Doom killed me, than I have nothing to worry about"

Before Mephiles could say anything the hedgehog had chaos control away, not without giving his husband a kiss on the cheek.

Things had rather been going smoothly thanks to Tikal finally leaving them alone...to take care of things their own way, he still keep the balance between both Positive and Negative energy's as well as letting things take their own course, he knew Black Doom would come back for his son...at some point.

After all why leave behind a being that is immune to everything, and is fully capable of doing things that doesn't require a chaos emerald. The only issue is that Shadow had Sonic's genes meaning that he sees the good in everything, he's just to stubborn to admit the wrong doings.

Mephiles steps into the shadows before seeping away into it, this wasn't his fight...but he'll support both his husband and Shadow.

Scourge kicks down a Brute Alien before it could attack Shadow, to the ebony hedgehog's annoyance since he didn't need saving.

"Hey Stripes, thought I jump in to help you out" Scourge said a bit of cockiness to his voice.

"Tsk...just don't get in my way" Shadow mutters.

Sure this wasn't the first time that he met Scourge, actually it was back in Station Square, when he was hunting down the chaos emeralds. When he first saw him he felt the strong surge of chaos energy coming off him...it was so familiar to him not to mention the calming effect he got when was around him.

Scourge only smiled, "I could have never been so proud of you...Shadow" He thought in his might.
