Tw- mild mentions of abuse and implications of abuse

Your pov

Monday went by pretty smoothly. I thought for sure something bad would happen, with Mikey and I having two classes together and having the same friends. But, he wasn't even there. Gerard said he was sick. Even though I doubted that in my mind, I decided not to say anything and just go on with my day.

Frank drove me home and surprisingly, my parents were nowhere to be seen. I found a note on the kitchen counter that said they both had to work late and wouldn't be home for dinner. What am I supposed to do until they get home!? Sit and stare at the wall!? Ugh...

I walked into my newly furnished bedroom and sat down on my bed. I could draw... Ugh, I can't draw! I left all my sketchbooks in the forest! Shit...

That was when I noticed the bag left on the floor in my room. It still held the cds Frank had gotten me. I guess I could finally give them a listen...

I walked to the bag and sat on the floor as I flipped through the odd choice of covers. As I flipped, I noticed one that stuck out to me, it almost felt, familiar. There were two, actually. Where do I know these images from?

My fingers traced the edges of the square covers. One with four men walking across a road and another with a big crowd of people that read Beatles in flowers. Why do these feel so familiar? Do I know these people? Odd...

I carefully opened the case of the men walking and carefully placed it in the little player next to it. How the hell do I work this thing?

I closed the lid and began pressing buttons that could possibly be the 'on' button, until finally the disk started spinning and the player started playing. As the man began to sing, I began to realize where I had heard this melody before. Oh, music is just their form of melody... strange...

As the song went on, memories of my childhood flooded my mind and I felt the tears forming. But, I didn't stop the music, I layed back on the floor and let the memories wash over me like a beaches undertow.

Flashback, the night after your mom pulled you out of school

My breathing was heavy as the rain poured and the thunder pounded loud. My legs carrying me away from my home, I didn't know where, but I knew I had to get out. The rain disguising the tears staining my face. I have to keep running, she's crazy, what happened to her? I need to get out...

I looked behind me as I ran, but I tripped and fell face first into the dirt. Tears streamed even more, I sat up with my knees to my chest as I sobbed. Until a tall figure began to approach me.

"P-please don't hurt me..." I cried. The figure crouched down to my level and held what appeared to be an umbrella over our heads.

"I'm not going to hurt you. What are you doing out here alone?" He asked.

"My mom she...she...h-hurt me..." I sobbed.

"I am so sorry, come with me. I promise I won't hurt you, I can help you." I finally looked up at the figure to see a man with dark hair and kind chocolate mudslide eyes. Should I trust this guy? He's a stranger... I'm sure whatever he's got will be better than what's at home...

I took his hand and he led me to a small hut surrounded by a garden of flowers. He brought me inside and sat me down on the couch before he began to question me, "What's your name?" before he sat down, he lit a few candles placed around his cozy home.

"Y/n." should I even trust this man? What if he does try to hurt me?

"Alright, Y/n. I'm Mr. Urie, but you can call me Brendon. Now, why did your mom hurt you?" To be honest, I hadn't the slightest idea... I just shrugged.

"Did you do something bad?" I shook my head.

"I don't think so, she pulled me out of school today saying my dad had died and it was all... all my fault... I don't even know who my dad is..." I began to cry again. He hugged me and began to softly shush me. Since that failed to calm me, he began to sing a sweet melody I had never heard.

"We all live in a yellow submarine..."

I began to calm down as I listened to the soft tune. He pulled away and began to speak very softly, "I'm going to take you home. I'm sure your mom is very worried. If anything like this happens again, you are always welcome here, I promise." My throat was dry from crying, so I just nodded. He picked me up and held me by his hip with the umbrella in his other hand and began to walk wherever I pointed to.

"Is this your home?" I nodded as he came up to the small cottage that looked homey on the outside, but not so much on the inside. He set me down and knocked on the wooden door. It opened to reveal my mother, she looked at Brendon, confused. Then looked to me, anger instantly filled her eyes, "Hi, your daught-"

"Y/n, what the fuck are you doing with this strange man!? Get your ass inside! I told you not to go out! Go to your room!" I quietly walked inside, turning to glance at the nice man one more time, before my mother yelled again, "Get your ass in there, now!" I nodded.

"Yes mother." I ran into my room and hid under my bed, listening in on what was being said.

"I don't know who the hell you think you are, but stay the fuck away from my daughter or I will not hesitate to turn your ass into a hat." My mother stated, coldly.

"I'm sorry for the mix up, have a nice night." Was all Brendon said before going home. She slammed the door and proceeded to begin round two of my punishments.

Flashforward to a few months later

I began my walk to Brendon's house as my mother was at where ever it is she goes during the day. I stopped to look at the pretty bugs and flowers tucked into the surrounding trees. I began to quietly sing a lovely melody Brendon had sang to me as a pretty orange and black butterfly landed on the tips of my fingers. I delicately moved my hand around to let it crawl freely.

"...come together right now over me..." The butterfly flapped its orange wings and flew off, "Goodbye, friend!" I waved as it flew and then saw Brendon's hut in the distance. I ran towards the door and lightly knocked. I heard him unlock the many locks linking the door, except the chain one, and open it just enough so I could see his eyes.

"What's the password?" He spoke with a silly tone that made me giggle.

"Marmalade trees," I confidently said. He fully unlocked the door; I was in his arms the second the door opened, "What are we going to do today?" I asked as I fully stepped inside the dimly lit living room.

"I don't know kid, what did we do yesterday?" He asked, shutting the door and sitting on the couch across from me.

"We fought pirates." I stated. He smiled.

"Oh that's right," he thought for a moment, "Have you gone to school at all?" I nodded.

"I don't go anymore, but I went for three years." He thought for another moment, "Why?"

"Because, I'm a vampire. You know that, I've lived for a long time and know way too much. I also found some random text books in my closet, but we probably won't need those until you're older. Do you want to go back to school?" He asked, "I would be your teacher, of course." Is he serious!? I loved school, but being taught by Brendon? That's going to be so fun!

"Yeah! We can do school today!" He smiled at my excitement and got up.

"Okay, I'm going to grab some materials and we'll have a little classroom of our own."

"Yay!"

Flashforward to another few months

"Y/n, are you almost done?"

"Yeah." I was finishing up a worksheet Brendon had made for me. He taught me well, he was definitely better than my last teacher. I finished the final problem and handed the paper to him. He graded it with lightning fast speed and handed it back to me.

"You're pretty good at this, is it to easy?" He asked as I looked at my perfect score on the top.

"Yeah, this is really easy." He began to think, then he went to the messy dinning room table, littered with random things. From drawings I had given him to old worksheets and school supplies he had given me. He shuffled through the papers until he finally found the text book he used to make my sheets.

"I think you're ready to move up, kid," he said, flipping through the pages wicked fast, until he found a new one, "Okay, let's try this." he handed me the textbook and began his 'lesson'.

Most days with Brendon had turned into more schooling than adventures. But I didn't mind too much. As long as I could get out of my house, I would be fine. It's been almost a year since he began teaching me. I thought it would be nice to go on an adventure with him again. I walked up to the door and knocked. Just like before, the door only opened enough to see his brown eyes.

"What's the password?" He asked.

"Pumpkin pie," I giggled as he opened the door wider and I ran into his arms. I pulled away and he led me to the living room. "Brendon! We should go on an adventure today!"

"Yeah? What kind of adventure?" He was almost immediately intrigued.

"Can we go visit the mermaids?" I asked, almost pleading. He rarely took me outside, but every so often we'd venture out into the magical forest to find tiny snap dragons and bumblebees the size of my head.

"Sure, I'll grab the umbrella and we can go."

"Yay!" He had to bring the umbrella or he could get burnt by the sun, since he is a vampire. He opened the door and took my tiny hand in his larger one as he opened up the umbrella, placing it over his head. We walked a few steps forward before I let go and ran ahead, admiring the small creatures crawling around the dirt floor, "Brendon! Look at this flower! It's so pretty!" I called to him. He caught up to me and took a look.

"Woah, it is pretty. Be careful, you don't want to break it." He said, examining the lilac petals and sunshine yellow middle.

"Hello friend, I think I'll call you..." Brendon turned around to see me looking at a green caterpillar crawling up a tree, "...Frank! Brendon! This is my new friend, his name is Frank! Isn't he cool!" I excitedly said.

"Yeah, he's very cool! What about this one? What's their name?" He asked, pointing to a little lady bug.

"Dolores." I instantly said, very sure of myself.

"Really? Looks more like a Candice to me." He said.

"No! Her name is Dolores! See!" I got closer to the little bug, "Dolores? What do you think of Frank over there?" I pointed to the caterpillar. The lady bug said nothing, but I couldn't just say that. I turned to Brendon, "She says Frank is a nice fellow, but not to mess with him because he won't hesitate to throw hands." I explained to Brendon.

"Fascinating..." Was all he said as we finally made it to the lake.

"Hello!" I waved to a pretty orange fish swimming around, "Do you know where the mermaids are?" I asked him, he said nothing, "Connor says he doesn't know where the mermaids are." I informed Brendon.

"Interesting, do you know where the mermaids are?" He bent down closer to the lake as a little pink fish swam over.

"Paul says he doesn't," I told him, "Oh! I think I see them!" Brendon stood up as one of the mermaids jumped into the water from the other side to swim over. They popped their heads out of the water and greeted us, "Hi Felicity!" I greeted the pretty dark haired blue eyed maiden.

"Hey Y/n! Hi Brendon, what are you two up to?" She asked.

"We're on an adventure! Today, we saw this really pretty flower with purple petals and I saw a caterpillar and a lady bug and the caterpillar is named Frank but the lady bug is named Dolores and they're best friends but be careful of Frank because he won't hesitate to throw hands." I explained, "But Brendon thought that Dolores should've been named Candice but I was like, no! Her name is Dolores!" I rolled my eyes as she smiled and laughed.

"Brendon, how dare you try to name Dolores, Candice!" She said, playfully offended.

"I know, I'm just so bad at naming things!" He laughed and ruffled my hair. That was when I had an amazing idea.

"Can I see your tail!?" She laughed.

"Of course!" She jumped up out of the water and sat next to us. Her beautiful blue and purple scales covering where her feet should be all the way up past her waist where she wore a white swim top. I sat next to her, admiring the scales and sparkly fins that stuck out at the end.

"Woah..." I pulled out a set of stickers Brendon had given me for doing well on a sheet, "May I?" I asked, she smiled and nodded. I smiled wide and carefully placed the pretty hearts around her tail. Her and Brendon talked about things I tuned out until I finished. I tapped her shoulder and she looked down, totally astonished.

"Woah, it's so pretty! Thanks Y/n! I should probably go now, come back soon!" She waved off and jumped in, admiring her new tail.

"Come on kid, that was quite an adventure. Let's get you home." He said, picking up my tired body, and holding me by his side.

"But I don't wanna go home!"

"I know, I don't want you to go either kid, I hate taking you there. But you know I have to." I nodded and yawned. I rested my head on his shoulder and began to drift off to sleep.

"Brendon?" I whispered.

"Yes?"

"You're my best friend." I said just before sleep took over. I heard him say it back and kiss my forehead as my eyes closed and it went dark.

Flashback over

The melody's had ended and I found myself drifting off to sleep with fond memories of adventuring in the forest still on my mind. I need to go back home soon...
