Forest Temple Adventure Extravaganza!
We kept on walking for a few hours. We stopped to look at the bugs and plants every so often. But nothing too significant happened.
"Ahh! My legs are killing me! Can we stop for a minute?" Frank whined. Geez, he is not having fun here at all!
"Sure, whatever." We stopped by a tree, I sat down and pulled out some snacks for everyone to share.
"Woah, look over there!" I looked to where Pete had pointed. There was a huge stone building. I stood back up to get a better look.
"It's a temple! I've heard about these places!" Pete and I began to run towards it, as it was just a few yards away, "Hurry up guys!" I called to them.
"I'm trying, but I'm kind of tied up! Ah shit!" I turned to see Mikey had tripped over. I laughed and ran to him.
"Are you okay?" I asked, helping him up.
"Yeah, I think I'll be okay." He smiled, and looked down at our hands, still together. I smiled as well, looking to the ground.
"Y/n! Come on! This temple is just waiting to be explored!" Pete yelled.
"Yeah, let's go guys!" I exclaimed, running to the temple, and letting go of Mikey. Pete and I just stood and stared at the steps leading to the entrance.
"They're so slow!" Pete complained.
"I know!" I agreed, "Hurry up!" I called to them, "Have you ever been in a temple?" I turned to Pete.
"No, but I've seen Indiana Jones and the Goonies enough to know what it'll be like." He said. I just laughed. The other boys finally found their way to us, "What took you guys so long!?"
"We were taking a break! We've been walking a lot." Frank said.
"Okay, let's do this! It's a temple! This is going to be so cool!" I exclaimed. We all began climbing the steps up. Pete, Ray, and Frank went in first and led the front while I stayed behind with Gerard and Mikey, "Woah..." It was pitch black, but I found the wall and ran my hand across the ancient stone. My hand was then met with an unlit torch, I took it out of the slot, "Hey I found a torch, but I-"
"I got this princess!" Frank came over, he had a little box thing in his hand. He flipped the top to reveal a flame, he used it to light the torch which lit up the whole room.
"Thanks Frank," I kissed his cheek before walking around the room.
"I found a doorway!" Ray said. We all turned to him to see the doorway in front of us.
"Shall we?" Mikey asked, bringing his gaze to me.
"We shall." This time, I led the way with Mikey and Gerard beside me. The other three boys walked behind.
"Be careful! There could be booby traps!" Pete warned.
"Haha, booby." Frank laughed, causing the other boys to laugh as well. I just rolled my eyes.
"But seriously guys, we need to be careful!" Pete said again.
"We're being caref-" I took a step forward and the stone sunk into the ground, "Shit! That can't be good!" I took another step, but was met with a dart, inches from my face, "Okay, not good."
"Y/n!" Mikey pulled me back, before another flew by. Dozens of darts started flying passed us, all sticking out of the adjacent wall. Mikey still had his arm around me as we watched the darts go by.
"How are we going to get to the other side, Mr. Indiana Jones?" I asked Pete.
"Well, if a spot on the floor set it off, then maybe there's one that will stop it. Or make it worse, we'll have to see." He took a step back, carefully placing a foot over each stone as if it would break under him. Everyone else stood still, watching Pete conduct his little experiment.
Then, Frank took a step back. We watched in horror as the stone block moved from under him, "Fuck!" I ran over, barely catching him from possible death.
"Are you alright?" I asked him.
"Yeah, I think so. Looks like the darts stopped." We looked, to see they indeed had.
"Lets go!" I tried running through, but Pete had grabbed my arm before I could, "What's the big deal!?"
"We have to be careful! One wrong step and we could be dead!" He explained and let go of me.
"Okay, but we still have to move! We can't just stand here!" I said.
"I know, everyone just, follow me. Step exactly where I step." Everyone nodded, and he slowly began to walk through. We were almost to the other side, when we heard a squeaking noise.
"What the fuck is that!?" Frank asked. I shushed him, "What? I would like to know what kind of-" That's when a ban of bats flew their way into the room we were in. I did my best to stand still as I waved the bats out of my face. The boys seemed to do a terrible job at standing still, because I heard a stone fall. The bats finally cleared out and a dart flew past, barely missing Pete's face.
"Run!" Pete instructed, everyone did so, barely making it. I had to pull Ray out as a dart almost hit his leg. We gathered into the next room. At first, nothing happened. And then Frank leaned against the wall, pushing a stone back which caused the door to close.
"Frank, what the fuck!? Have you ever seen Indiana Jones!? You're not supposed to touch anything! At all!" Pete said.
"All right all right, calm down, nerd." Frank insulted.
"Hey! I wouldn't insult the guy who knows the only way out of here! If I wanted to, I could end your life. Just by stepping on the right tile!" Pete said.
"Guys, stop! The exit is right there, we just have to walk to it." I said, trying to keep them from fighting.
"We should be careful, I'm not sure what this room could hold." Pete began to walk in front.
"Nerd," Frank fake coughed out.
"Shut the fuck up, Iero! You've done nothing but act like an ass this whole time! You are not helping the situation one bit!" Pete yelled.
"Whatever, at least I don't make friends with bugs." That was the comment that made me break.
"Frank!" I yelled. He whipped his head around, surprised by my sudden interference, "Stop acting like a complete ass! I know this place is new to you, but that gives you no right to hate on our home! Now Pete, would you please lead the way for us?" Pete smiled.
"I'd be happy to." He nodded and marched back in front, away from Frank who scoffed and leaned against the wall, again. It pushed another stone back. We all turned to him, angrily. The door on the other side slowly began to close as the ceiling came down with spikes at the same speed, "Run!" We all sped to the other side, Pete allowed everyone to go before him. As soon as everyone was out, he slid under, losing his jacket in the process. He reached under the door and grabbed it just before it closed on him. We all stood there, catching our breath.
"That was really close." Ray said.
"Yeah, I wasn't sure if we'd make it out of that one." I chuckled, everyone laughed along, "We should keep going, the exit should be somewhat close."
"Yeah, the longer we're in here the easier it'll be for us to end up dead." Pete said, leading the way into the next room. The room was huge, it was filled with gold pieces and jewelry alike. In the middle, sat a small gold statue on a platform, "Okay, don't touch anything!" He directed more towards Frank than anyone else.
"Okay geez, I wasn't gonna." Frank said annoyed. We began to walk through, we were so close to the other side, when Frank pushed Pete into the statue, causing it to fall over. Frank laughed.
"Why the fuck would you do that!? You fool! We're dead! We're all dead!" Pete cried, falling to his knees as we heard movement in the walls.
"Calm down, nothing's gonna-" that's when the doorway we had just walked through, closed. The wall lifted up to reveal a gigantic stone ball, getting ready to hit us.
"Run!" I yelled, everyone sped through the other doorway as the ball chased after us, "Frank, you're an actual dumb ass!" We all ran through different rooms, not bothering to see what each one had to offer.
"Guys! In here!" There was a room just off the path we had been taking, we all hurried in. We watched as the ball rolled by, everyone began to laugh, happy that we made it out. Then, as we were resting, a wall came down fast, separating us. We all began to freak out.
"Y/n! Princess, what happened!?" Frank asked from the other side.
"A wall came down! We're just going to have to split up and meet along the way! It should be fine, baby." I called to him.
"You're seriously leaving me with nerd head over here!? Ahh!" He pounded on the wall.
"Don't do that! You could make the situation so much worse!" I heard Pete yell. I turned to the two boys I was stuck with.
"Well Gee, Mikes, I guess we're stuck together."
"Yeah, I don't know if Ray will make it out with Frank and Pete at each other's throats." Gerard and I laughed. Mikey began to breathe hard.
"Mikey, are you alright?" I asked, stepping towards him.
"Help me, please!" He held onto the collar of my shirt, "It's taking over again, I need out! I need out! Please, help me!" He cried.
"Mikey, calm down its going to be fine, we'll get help." I told him calmly.
"Run," was all he said, before his eyes turned yellow and he had a sinister smirk on his face, "If I were you I'd listen to him. Now that I'm back in control, I've got some wicked things up my sleeve." It snickered, letting go of my shirt, "Let's have some fun, shall we? I say, skeletons." Then, out of the darkness came dozens of skeletons armed with swords and tattered clothes. "Get em." Gerard and I gunned it out of there.
"The exit! It's right there!" I smiled, knowing we'd be out soon. We made it out, the skeletons followed but turned to dust as soon as the moonlight hit their bones. Mikey walked out as well, he came to us, but immediately collapsed. I helped him back up, to see his eyes were their natural color. "Are you alright?"
"I-I don't even know anymore. Y/n, I'm so scared. I didn't hurt you, did I?" He asked, engulfing me into a hug. I shook my head, "That's the last thing I want." Oh Mikey, it feels so good to be in your arms again...
"We should get going, that demon thing isn't going to kill itself."
"You're right Gee, Brendon's should be close." I said, pulling away from Mikey, but keeping my hand in his. "I think if we go just a little farther, we can make it to Bee's before it gets dark again." They both nodded and we began walking again. We walked for another hour, before settling down by a tree. Gerard fell asleep almost immediately while Mikey and I stayed up to look at the stars.
"Hey Y/n?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I tell you something?" He asked, unsure.
"Yeah, you can tell me anything."
"Okay well, I just... I just want to say, thank you. Thank you for helping me get this demon thing out of me. I also want to say..." He hesitated, "... If I don't make it out, I want to let you know that I'm sorry. I realize now, my mistakes. I was such an idiot. I did treat you like a child, and I'm sorry." He looked at me, biting his lip as he waited for a response.
"I... I forgive you. I'm sorry as well, I'm sorry for being with Frank. I don't even like him all that much. It was kind of an impulsive decision." I explained, "I probably sound like an ass."
"No, you're fine."
"And, I'm going to do everything I can to save you. I want you to be okay. I... I hate seeing you this way." Tears began to well up and stream down. He quickly brought his arms around me.
"Oh love, it's going to be okay." Love, I never thought he'd call me that again...
We both layed back, still looking at the stars. I yawned and slowly closed my eyes, as I fell asleep.
