Bugs!

The school day came to an end. I went home, and was sure to tell my parents my 'plans for the weekend'. I walked through the front door, greeting my parents, and running straight to my room. I layed back on my bed, and took a deep breath. I'm going home... It's really happening... finally... I can't wait...

I walked back out, to see my mom and dad not really doing much.

"I'm going to stay the weekend at Frank's, if that's okay." I said.

"That's fine, are you staying all break?" My mom asked.

"Yeah, my friends and I are going to spend the break together. At Frank's." I lied.

"Okay, have fun dear."

"I will," I smiled, walking back to my room. Wow, I am awful! I just lied to my parents! I'm such a terrible daughter! I can't tell them though, Mikey's life is at stake! Oh Mikey... I hope he gets better, Brendon's got to have something to help him... Right?

My thoughts wandered until it was time for me to head out. I grabbed a small bag I had just packed with food and a change of clothes. I peaked out of my room, seeing my parents. They sat, talking about who knows what in the living room. I'm so happy I found them...

"Mom, dad," I said, catching their attention, "I'm leaving..." That was when it hit me, I could die on this mission, what if I die? They won't even know... I have to go through with this...

I took a deep breath, and forced a smile, "... I'll see you in a few days. Love you."

"See you soon honey, have fun. Love you too." They said. I took one last look at them, before turning towards the door, and walking towards the Way household.

I stood in front of their door, rocking on my heels for a moment. I knocked on the door, Gerard opened it almost immediately and pulling me in, "Hey, Mikey's in his room. I'd be careful if I were you. He's not exactly stable, at the moment." He looked to his shoes as his hand went to the back of his neck.

"It's okay, we'll get through this. We can fix this, I promise. If I know anything about that forest, I know that anything is possible. We'll help him get better, he'll get better." I said, comforting him.

"Thanks, I can only hope that's true." He chuckled, I opened my mouth to object, but he spoke before I could, "We should go get him. Hopefully he'll be Mikey when we're up there, but I'm not entirely sure." He led me up the stairs to his room. He had his hand on the knob, but hesitated to open the door.

"Are you okay?"

"I mean, there's a demon inside my brother but besides that, I think I'm alright." He said, voice cracking a bit.

"Oh Gee, I'm so sorry about all this. I'm sure it's really hard on you. Come here." He let go of the door knob and I gave him a hug. He cried into my shoulder.

"Why did it have to be him? It... it should've been me! Not him..."

"It wouldn't make the situation any better if it were you in there. I promise we will get him better." At this point, I said this more for myself than Gee. I had no idea if he would get better. All I could do was hope. I pulled away, "Now, let's go in there, and fight this thing."

"Th-thank you, for everything. I don't know what I would've done without you." I forced a smile, as he slowly opened the door. I took a step inside. Mikey was on his bed, laying flat on his back, and staring at the ceiling.

"Mikey?" I whispered. He didn't say anything, it was as if he didn't even acknowledge our presence, "Mikey..." I tried. He sighed, and looked my way. Revealing his all yellow eyes. That's not Mikey...

"Surprise seeing you here, sweetheart." He smirked, revealing sharp teeth, "I never thought you'd show." He chuckled, sitting up but immediately putting his hand to the side of his head and grimacing, "Shut up! Michael, if you don't stay quiet I will kill her right now!" He murmured to himself, "Ahh, that's better. Now that I've finally got you here, I- Michael! Shut up..." Mikey! He's still there...

"Gerard, how the hell are we going to do this?" I turned to him while the thing was distracted.

"I got rope and I got tape." He said, grabbing them from outside the door.

"Give it." I said, making grabby hands towards them. He threw them to me, while the thing was still arguing with itself. I threw the rope around it until the rope was tied around its arms and hands.

"Let me go! I'm your worst nightmare! I can rip you to shreds!" It growled.

"Haha, bet." I said, putting tape over its mouth as it squirmed, "It's okay Gerard, we should probably make our way towards the forest now."

"Okay, but how are we going to get him there without people thinking we've kidnapped him?"

"Shit, you're right!" I thought for a moment, "How far is the forest from here?"

"Not too far, I'd say like a ten minute walk."

"Frank! He's got a car, he could pick us up!" I exclaimed.

"Yeah! I'll text him." He did so, before we dragged Mikey downstairs to wait for our friend. We finally heard his car pull up, followed by the door opening.

"Do not fear, for your savior Frank is here!" He nonchalantly called, walking towards us. That's when his eyes landed on Mikey, "What the fuck did you do to him!?"

"What's it look like? We tied him up. It's the only way we could get him down here without being mauled." Gerard stated, "Let's go." He carried Mikey out to the car, leaving Frank and I by ourselves.

"Uhh, alright..." Frank turned to me, "... hey baby, are you alright?" He looked worried. I was having a really hard time seeing Mikey this way. I guess I hadn't even noticed the tears welling up at my eyes.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He hugged me anyways, I tried my best to keep myself from crying. But I just couldn't help it, "I'm sorry, I'm just so worried about him." I cried.

"It's okay, we're all worried about him. I'm not even sure what's going on with him." He said, truthfully, "But it seems like you and Gee know what's going on. I'm sure you two will be able to figure it out and you'll have Ray, Pete, and I by your side." I smiled through the tears as he kissed my forehead.

"Thanks Frank, I'm sure this is all really confusing for you. But once we're in the forest, it'll make a lot more sense. Hopefully." I said.

"Guys! Hurry up, we don't want to keep Ray and Pete waiting! Let's go!" Gerard called from the car.

"Yeah, we should probably go. It'll be okay princess, I'm sure it will." He took my hand and led me to his car, where Gerard and a tied up Mikey sat in the back, "And, we're off!" Frank called as we left the driveway.

"How is it doing, Gee?" I asked.

"He's been struggling to get out, but there aren't any signs of Mikey. His eyes haven't changed at all." He said.

"Keep an eye on it. We can't let it get loose."

"Let what loose?" Frank chimed.

"The demon inside of Mikey." I explained, "It's why we have him tied up. It's taken over his body, maybe even his mind too." He still looked real confused. "It'll make more sense soon." Once he sees the forest, he should get it...

We finally pulled up to the cemetery. Ray and Pete were waiting for us outside the gates. I waved to the boys before helping get Mikey out. They came over, Ray had an unsure expression once he had a look at Mikey.

"Why is he tied up?" He asked.

"There's a demon inside of him." I simply explained, Ray just hummed in response. He kind of just accepted the whole magic thing at this point, "Come on, we have to get it to the wall." Gerard carried his squirming tied up little brother as we made our short walk to the wall separating the city and the magic forest beyond.

"I haven't been home in so long. Do you really think the forest will remember me?" Pete asked, turning to me.

"Of course it will," I smiled at the stone wall, "I can't wait to get to the other side."

"Me too," He said, beginning to climb, "Take my hand, I'll pull you up." I did as told.

"Thanks," we sat at the top, waiting for the other boys to join us, "The world looks so strange from up here. One side, you've got busy streets and boring schools. But on the other side it's a magical land filled with wonder and pretty bugs."

"Yeah, I don't know how this place has stayed hidden for so long."

"Magic." I simply answered.

"Princess! Can you give me a hand?" I brought my gaze down to my boyfriend and nodded. I threw my hand down, helping him up. As soon as everyone was on top, we all jumped down to the other side. I immediately took a deep breath, home...

I smiled and laughed, running down the small hill into the trees below. Pete ran behind me, while the others just trailed.

"Pete, isn't this amazing! The forest looks so beautiful! I'm so happy to be home! Oh, look at the little bugs! The trees! Look at the flowers!" I gasped, taking it all in. I ran my fingers over the tree bark as I smiled wide.

"Of course it's amazing, bug!" He called, but it took him a little longer to take a step back into our world. He stood in front of the big trees for a moment, watching the light breeze.

"Come on!" I took his hand, pulling him inside, he laughed, "Okay, I'm coming!"

"Look at the caterpillar!" We both bent down, watching a green caterpillar crawl across a tree branch.

"Woah..." Was all he said. We stood, watching in awe as the other boys finally came over.

"What are you guys looking at?" Frank asked.

"Caterpillar." We answered in unison, not taking our eyes off the little guy.

"Lemme see!" I took a step to the side, but still kept my gaze on the crawler. Frank came over and didn't look for very long, "What's so special about a caterpillar?" We both turned to him in disbelief.

"Are you even looking at it? It's a caterpillar! And it's green!" Pete exclaimed.

"Yeah! It's cool, and it's adorable." We both turned back to see it had disappeared, "No! Frank, you made us look away! Now he's gone." I whined.

"It was just a caterpillar, I'm sure you can find way more around here." He commented.

"It's not just a caterpillar, Frank! It's a cool caterpillar! It's a forest caterpillar." I said, as we began to walk down the path.

"Okay then, come here baby." He put his arm around my shoulders and kissed my cheek as we walked. That's when, I spotted something.

"Oh my god, Pete! A lady bug! And there's a butterfly! Look at the beetle over here!" I broke out of Frank's grasp, to another tree. Bugs were crawling all over it.

"Woah, there's so many!" Pete said, inspecting the little guys.

"Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen so many. They're all so cool." I said, as Frank came back over.

"What are you looking at now?" Frank asked.

"Bugs." We simply stated.

"Why? They're just bugs." Pete and I looked at each other in disbelief.

"They're not just bugs! They're cool bugs! And they're forest bugs!" I tried to explain, but he didn't get it, "Frank, you've got a lady bug on your hand." I laughed.

"Oh gross!" He tried to shake it off.

"No! You'll hurt it." He stopped and I took the black and red bug from his hand, "Pete!" He turned his head, eyes lighting up as soon as his gaze met the lady bug.

"Wow! How did you get it on your hand?"

"I took it from Frank, one crawled onto him." I explained.

"Hey! Would ya quit looking at those damn bugs and give me a hand!?" Gerard said, annoyed.

"Coming," Pete and I said, not taking our eyes from the lady bug.

"Careful, don't hurt it."

"I'm not going to hurt it, I'm just setting it down." I explained, putting my hand down by the tree bark, allowing the little guy to roam the tree freely. We took one last look before running off to Gerard, where Mikey was struggling, ruthlessly, "Mikey? It's going to be okay." Once it heard my voice, it calmed immediately. Revealing his all too familiar hazel eyes, "Mikey! It's you, sorry we have to keep you tied up." I took the tape from his mouth.

"It's alright, I wouldn't want to carry around a demon boy without taking precautions." I laughed.

"Yeah, hey! You should see these bugs!" I tugged on the end of the rope, leading him to a near by tree.

"He's not going to care! They're just bugs, nothing special!"

"Shut up, Frank. Bugs are epic." Mikey said, staring at the crawlers.

"Yeah, they are!" I happily agreed.

"Quit looking at the bugs! We have to move! We don't have time for all this! Y/n, you know the way, right?" Gerard asked annoyed. I nodded, eyes still on the insects, "Well, let's go then! We can look at the bugs later."

"Okay, okay..." Mikey and I didn't move.

"Guys!"

"We're coming," Mikey turned to me, "We should probably start walking before Gerard kicks our ass's."

"Yeah, I guess so." I waved to the bugs, before leading the way to Brendon's hut.
