I've been in so many selections but I'm pretty sure my females have only ever won once

I've gotten close a lot. My characters get to the Elite or even to the final two but they always end up being the safe option. Like last summer I was in one and I seriously thought she was gonna win but then the prince randomly went and chose another elite

Do my characters just have that personality or am I just bad at selections?
