ೃ⁀➷ Chapter 6: i'm so sick of myself

All your friends are so cool, you go out every night in your daddy's nice car, yeah you're living the life. Got a pretty face, a pretty boyfriend too, I wanna be you so bad and I don't even know you. All I see is what I should be: happier, prettier, jealousy, jealousy. All I See is what I should be. I'm losing it, all I get's jealousy, jealousy. — Olivia Rodrigo "Jealousy, Jealousy" (2021)

Jung Jaehyun and Moon Baekhee were a two-for-one deal.

This was the first thought that went through Meredith's head after Johnny introduced the couple to her. Meredith soon found out that Jaehyun was an architect and that Baekhee was working for a music magazine.

The two of them looked really pretty next to each other and Meredith quickly understood why Johnny liked them so much.

"So your friend is taking a rest?" Baekhee asked, cutting a piece of the pizza and putting it on Seokjin's plate. The law school student thanked the woman. Meredith hummed. "She doesn't eat after six p.m. for some odd reasons" she said and looked over to Seokjin who was equally as confused as herself.

"Limiting late night eating does help loosing weight" Baekhee said and sat down on her chair. She took a bite of her pizza and looked at Meredith. "But we're all on vacation so it's cheat time" she smiled.

"So, Meredith" Jaehyun said and looked at the Aquarius. "Johnny told us you're studying automotive engineering. How's that?" Meredith smiled and swallowed the bite of pizza she was eating. "I'm having a lot of fun. Thankfully I don't have so many boring classes anymore and a lot of practical lessons." She smiled and Seokjin nodded.

"Her graduation project is an old Toyota, right babe?", the law school student asked and Meredith nodded. "I have to tune it so I've been working on a lot of tuning sheets lately. But this Toyota is quite challenging." Meredith shook her head.

"Ah, you can fix this in no time, Mer" Johnny said and smiled at his younger sister. "You have always dreamt of tuning cars and now it's your final exam. That's so cool!" The other adults nodded. "I would've loved to do something handsy for my final exam, but I had to write a long ass bachelor thesis" Baekhee sighed and Meredith smiled.

Johnny's friends were nice. She liked them. They were a bit older than her and her friends, but seemed like good company.

Meredith looked towards the dining room doors. Mark hasn't returned yet. Seokjin felt his girlfriend tensing up next to him. "Calm down, babe" he whispered, "Yaeeun didn't eat him. And if she did, good for her" Seokjin smiled and got himself another slice of pizza.

Meredith nodded helplessly and smiled. Mark and Yaeeun were both single. They were allowed to do anything they wanted.

Just then Mark entered the room. He moved his hands through his hair and went to sit down opposite of Meredith. Once he sat, Hyelin handed him a slice of pizza. "Thanks" he smiled and grabbed the jug of water to fill his glass.

Meredith watched him. He looked as calm and collected as always. She stretched out her leg and brushed it against his shin. Mark looked up. He smiled. 'You okay', Meredith mouthed and Mark nodded and started eating his pizza.

The exchange didn't get unnoticed. Seokjin rolled his eyes. He wanted to be a good boyfriend, but he couldn't say a thing about this Mark Lee guy and it was making him nervous. Thankfully he knew that Meredith was more than in love with him.

Seokjin excused himself after dinner. He told the group that he felt very jet lagged and Meredith nodded. "I'll show him our room and help afterwards" she said and walked after her boyfriend. Mark watched them and quickly averted his eyes to look back on his glass of pineapple juice.

Their luggage was still in the foyer of the house.

"My room's on the first floor" Meredith said and grabbed her suitcase. She started walking upstairs and Seokjin followed—carrying his luggage upstairs as well. A smile tugged on Seokjin's lips as he looked at Meredith's arse in the mom shorts she was wearing.

"Do you really have to go back downstairs?", he asked once he reached the top of the staircase. Meredith nodded. "I want to spend time with my brother, babe" she smiled, "and his girlfriend. I haven't seen Hyelin in ages."

Seokjin nodded. He understood his girlfriends reasoning. "I want to cuddle with you though" he pouted as Meredith walked past the guest room—Yaeeun's room. "We have more than enough time to cuddle" Meredith said with a smile as she opened the door to her room.

The room still looked the same.

The room had a balcony with a view onto the ocean and white curtains. The lamp had an integrated fan and gently blowing air into her face. On the right side of the room was a canopy bed with tassel curtains and a painting of a manta ray above it. On the left side of the room was a dresser and a desk.

"How I missed this" Meredith smiled and walked into the room. She pushed her suitcase towards the dresser and turned to look at Seokjin. "Babe, that's my room" she smiled and watched Seokjin glance around the room. "Cozy" he grinned and pushed his suitcase over to Meredith's before turning to his girlfriend and scooping her up by the waist.

Meredith started giggling and waited for Seokjin to gently drop her on the bed. Her back nestled into the soft fabric of the quilt as Seokjin leaned over to her and pressed a loving kiss onto her lips.

"Do you really have to chat with your brother? You're going to see him everyday from now on" he pouted and Meredith chuckled. "I want to hang out with Johnny before the action and adventures start tomorrow. Plus, you said you're tired so you should sleep." She gently caressed his jaw and tugged her thumb under his chin pulling him closer to her.

Their noses brushed against each other and Meredith felt butterflies erupt in her stomach. She wasn't even in love with Seokjin when they started dating but one day after the other she started to fall for him. And now, six months later, she was putty in his hands.

They shared another sweet kiss. Seokjin propped his elbows on the bed, Meredith under him. The kiss deepened and Seokjin slipped a hand under Meredith's loose Sex Pistols shirt. A gasp left Meredith's lips as Seokjin started to grab onto the flesh of her hips. She arched her back and threw her arms over his shoulders, pulling him closer.

Their bodies were touching each other. The only barrier between their naked skin was their shirts. Seokjin started kissing a trail from Meredith's lips to her jaw until he started nibbling on the sensitive part of her neck. The Aquarius threw her head back and sighed. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the feeling of Seokjin's teeth gliding across her skin.

One of his hands was still under her shirt, holding her tightly.

Meredith felt Seokjin pushing his body on hers. His groin was pressing against her middle and she felt his erection growing. Heat rushed to her face and she gently pushed Seokjin off her, before sliding out from under his body.

Seokjin looked at her and blinked twice. A second later a slight frown formed on his lips.

Meredith stood up and fixed her shirt. Her honey blonde curls were messed up and she had tomato red cheeks and ears. "Go and settle in" she said with a shiver in her voice. "The bathroom's down the hall" she whispered and left the room with shaking legs.

Meredith's heart was racing. She knew she'd promised Seokjin that they were going to talk about having sex this summer. But she knew how fast a make-out session could turn into more. Meredith didn't have a clean vest. She had a fair share of one-night-stands and drunk hookups during her four years of university.

But with Seokjin she wanted to take her time. She wanted it to be special. She didn't want to rush into it with no preparation. Seokjin was too handsome to be true. He was too experienced he was a lot Meredith couldn't quite comprehend.

She had never loved someone like she loved Seokjin.

Was she scared of sleeping with Seokjin? No. She just hadn't had the time to mentally prepare herself for this step. So whenever things got out of hand, she chickened out. And then Seokjin got annoyed with her.

Meredith took a deep breath as she walked downstairs. She could hear Johnny and his friends chat in the dining room. But once she entered it, it was just Mark who was left. "They're on the back porch" the Leo spoke, knowing who Meredith was looking for, and looked up.

He had a smile on his lips. Happy that he finally had the chance to chat with his other half. "So" he started, as Meredith sat down opposite of him and took another slice of pizza that was left in the middle of the table. The pizza was cold, but Meredith didn't mind. "This is your boyfriend" Mark stated and Meredith nodded.

"He's interesting" the Canadian lad said, moving his glass of pineapple juice in his hands. "I don't know why" Meredith said and swallowed her pizza, "but you don't seem keen of him."

Mark chuckled. "Oh no, Mer! I just don't know him yet. It'll probably get better the following days." He pursed his lips and grinned. "He's quite touchy-feely, aight?" Meredith chuckled. "He can't keep his hands off me" she rolled her eyes. "I don't wanna know how annoyed Yaeeun was during the flight." She shook her head at the thought of her female best friend.

"Talking about Yaeeun" Meredith said, "what took you so long?" Mark lifted his head. "What do you mean?", he asked, sipping from his juice. He had a confused expression on his face. His perfect brows flew up to his hairline. "You took your sweet time showing Yaeeun to her room" Meredith said. She tried to ignore the pang in her chest. Where did that even come from?

"I went to the bathroom" he said and Meredith looked up. "Really?", she asked and Mark looked at her confused. "Yes. I wanted to wash my hands, they were nasty." Meredith smiled. She knew Mark wouldn't lie to her.

"What do you think of Yaeeun?", she asked. A part of her wanted to know her best friends opinion on the pretty girl, another part of her begged her to stop. She felt heat in the bottom of her stomach as she watched Mark think about his answer.

"My first impression is that she's quite the... hm, don't get me wrong, Mer" he searched for the right words, "but she's quite the pick-me, isn't she?", he asked and Meredith looked at him with big eyes. "You think she's a pick-me?" Mark nodded. "The way she spoke earlier? I saw how you and Seokjin looked at each other. You were surprised, weren't you?"

Before Meredith could answer she heard Johnny call for her from the back porch. "The mantas are out!", Johnny called and Meredith jumped up. "C'mon" she smiled and held her hand towards her best friend. "Let's meet our old friends" she grinned at Mark and the two soulmates went to the back porch to see the manta rays in the ocean.

Mark grinned once he interlaced his fingers with Meredith's. Just like in the old days.

When Meredith woke up the next morning, she had a pair of strong arms around her torso and her boyfriends head on her chest. His messy dark hair was tickling her nose and she stretched before gently caressing Seokjin's face.

She felt Seokjin stir awake and smiled, watching the younger male stretch. "Why you're waking me" he mumbled, when he felt Meredith wrap her legs around his torso. A tired smile grew on his face as he let her turn him around.

She was sitting on his lap. The pants of her pajama shirts ridden up her thighs. Seokjin laid his hands on Meredith's bum. "That's a morning call I could get used to" he grinned and waited for Meredith to lean down and kiss him.

"When'd you come to bed?", he asked while Meredith was placing kisses all around his jaw. "Around one" she answered, "I went to watch the mantas last night" she whispered in between kisses. Seokjin leaned back into the pillows and watched Meredith's hands move across his bare chest.

"I didn't knew you liked mantas" he spoke and Meredith lifted her head and chuckled. "You never asked" she answered and Seokjin nodded. "When I think about it" he started as Meredith climbed off him, he sat up, "I don't know a lot of your favorites." He looked at her. "So manta rays are your favorite animals?", he asked and Meredith nodded.

"Never wondered why my keys have a manta keychain?", she asked and Seokjin shook his shoulders. "Actually... no" he laughed. "But I know your favorite color is purple, you love Lotus Martinis and your three big signs are Aquarius" he started and looked at Meredith, she cocked her eyebrow. "Continue."

"Sagittarius and Pisces!" Seokjin lifted his eyebrows. "I'm right, aren't I?", he asked confidently and Meredith laughed out loud. "Ddaeng!", she grinned. "Aquarius was right but my moon sign is Capricorn and my rising is Scorpio."

Seokjin pouted. "Close, but not enough" Meredith smiled and climbed out of the bed. "C'mon big boy, let's get breakfast." She held her hand towards her boyfriend who climbed out of the bed and followed her.

It was still quiet in the house as they walked downstairs. Some of their friends were still sleeping.

The couple reached the kitchen and started looking for something to eat, when Seokjin poked Meredith's side. "Look at this" he whistled and nodded towards the window. Meredith looked up from the collection of cereal Johnny had bought and followed Seokjin's sight.

On the beach behind their back porch were two young adults, kneeling in the sand, looking at something with bright smiles on their face. The duo on the beach were still wearing pajamas.

"Our Yaeeun is surely shooting her shoot, aye!" Seokjin grinned brightly and watched Choi Yaeeun move her arm towards Mark Lee, acting as if she was falling back. Mark, the gentleman that he was, held her wrist and looked at her with a goofy expression on his face.

Meredith hadn't noticed the tight grip she had on the Kellogg's box. There it was again, this weird feeling in her chest. It felt like a small green-eyed monster that slowly made its way from the pit of her stomach to her chest. It was nothing big, but it was enough for her expression to turn sullen. Her cheeks flushed and she felt he cereal box crumble under her hands.

Seokjin was talking about something, but all Meredith could hear was her own blood rushing through her body. Meredith's lips were flat, her teeth were clenched. The monster climbed over the walls around Meredith's heart. The walls she had built up her whole life.

The monster broke down these walls.

Not a sound left Meredith's lips as she watched Mark help Yaeeun off the sand. The two young adults patted the sand of their pajamas and slowly walked back to the house. Meredith smashed the cereal box on the kitchen counter, catching Seokjin's attention. The boy looked at her with a confused expression.

Meredith bit the inside of her checks—oh how the green-eyed monster reveled in her pain.

The twenty-three year old air sign immediately understood what happened. She was painfully jealous of the budding friendship between her Mark and Choi Yaeeun. The green-eyed monster was here and Meredith knew it was going to stay.
