CHAPTER 29:
What could've been?
Quinn

"I missed this, you know," Miguel spoke up.

"Being friends. Everything just happened so fast. . .I'm sorry," Miguel apologized.

"There's nothing to apologize for," I reassured him, grabbing his hand.

"Things just got out of hand, and there was so much going on-"

"But I could've kept him from hurting you," Miguel cut me off.

Hawk.

"The party?" I asked.

"What he did wasn't okay. You were trying to move on, and he-"

"Miguel," I held his face in my hand, stopping him from going on a ramble.

"He's responsible for his own actions, you're not. I know Cobra Kai said that if one if you fails, you all do. But that's not true. It makes people responsible for others actions, and that's never fair."

"I just can't believe I fell for that," Miguel revealed.

"We all like to cling onto some kind of control when there's none in our own life," I explained.

"Huh," Miguel said, noting my insightful words.

"You sure you're not some type of life coach?" I chuckled.

"Just the daughter of a psychologist. But, I do want to go into Psychotherapy."

"What's that?"

"It's mainly gaged towards people with Dissociative Identity Disorder, and Schizophrenia. Like that guy from Split, only they don't become indestructible monsters."

"Is that dangerous?" He asked.

"Sometimes. They're known as the more difficult side of the psychological spectrum, as some patients do attack their psychologist if they can't handle the truth. But there's a system for that," I know the thought of being assaulted by someone you want to help scares people, but it always drives me to want to tell them that it's okay to be vulnerable.

That it's okay to accept the truth.

"I can see why Hawk likes you," Miguel smiled, blushing a bit.

"I actually had a bit of a crush on you when we met," He stated.

"Really?"

"Yeah, but then Hawk told me about how he felt. I never wanted to be someone to get in the way of my best friends feelings, even if it's towards the same girl."

Oh wow.

"That's really sweet of yo-"

My phone went off and I saw my mom on the caller ID.

"What's up?"

"What's up?! How about you almost got arrested!"

"Uhm, no I didn't."

"We found the transactions on his phone, Quinn. We know. And you're lucky Daniel deleted them before the cops found out."

My heart dropped.

"Wait, where's Robby? Did they find him?"

"He's been arrested. Now you better come straight home and explain yourself."

She hung up, and Miguel looked at me with a worried expression.

"I gotta go."
