"News from the paparazzi and Simon Cowell read that Louis Tomlinson, famous lad from One Direction, and Avery Payne, Liam Payne's younger sister, are officially dating!" An article on Hollywood Life read.
I scrolled through the page on my phone in Safari, reading the article.
"The two haven't been spotted just quite yet, since One Direction are currently on their summer break from tours and interviews."
"Even though they're on break, just a few weeks ago they got called in for an interview on Ellen. I don't think Louis and Avery were quite sure that we all caught their secret glances at each other when Ellen asked Avery if she had some feelings for any of the lads."
"Are directioners happy about this new relationship sprouting?"
Underneath that section, was several images of tweets from fans of the band, saying their opinions on mine and Louis' 'relationship'.
"Fuck her! She doesn't deserve Louis, or any of the guys."
"I love [ship name still to be decided]!"
"I think she's absolutely stunning. Louis sure knows how to pick his ladies."
"I hope that Avery bitch rots in the third realm of hell."
And just like that, people can instantly hate you without even personally knowing you. Guess that's just how dating a famous guy is.
I sighed, clicking the lock button on my iPhone and tossing it onto the bed.
"I don't get it." I muttered to myself.
"Get what, love?" I looked at the doorway, seeing Louis standing there with a look of concern.
"They hate me." I said quietly, staring at my phone at the foot of the bed.
Louis sighed, walking over to the side of the bed. "They're just jealous of you, love. You have something they don't. Well, technically."
I shrugged, afraid to unlock my phone again. I was afraid of what I would see again. Hell, I'm officially afraid to check Twitter. It's only been a week since Simon made it official!
Louis wrapped an arm around my shoulder, pulling me close to him. "Don't worry about them."
"It's hard not to." I sighed, leaning my head on his shoulder. "Do you want me to say something? Make a tweet or something?"
I shook my head. "No, Louis. I don't want the fans attacking you because they all think we're together."
"They kind of already are." Louis chuckled, then his face fell again. "Everyone keeps saying that you're just a beard."
"A what?" I looked up at him, furrowing my eyebrows. A beard? What the hell? Did I hear him correctly?
"There are a lot of fans who ship Larry Stylinson. Every time Harry and or I get into a relationship, fake or not, the fans say that the girl is just a beard trying to cover Larry." Louis explained, and I nodded. I forgot about Larry for a second there.
"Can I tell you something?" Louis asked, looking forward at the space in front of us. I nodded again, my head on his shoulder.
"Well, I-" He started to say, but was cut off by someone clearing their throat from the doorway. Louis' and I's heads turned, seeing Liam standing in the doorway awkwardly.
"Can I talk to Avery?" Liam asked, leaning against the doorframe. Louis sighed quietly before nodding, standing up from the bed, and walking to the door. He walked past Liam, who kept his eye on Louis the entire time.
"What's up?" I asked, giving Liam a smile that was definitely fake.
"I read what people are saying about you on twitter." He said softly, walking over to the bed and sitting down next to me. I felt my face fall, a frown on display.
"Yeah.." That's all I could say. What was I supposed to say? Because I clearly didn't know.
Liam frowned as well, pulling me into a side hug. I buried my head in his chest, feeling my eyes tear up a bit.
Liam softly rubbed my back, kissing the top of my head. It was always nice having an older brother who was there for you. Sure, he was touring a lot. But when he wasn't and was spending time with family, I cherished every second of it.
"This was one reason why I didn't want you dating one of the boys. Fake relationship or not." Liam sighed, looking up at the ceiling.
I felt a tear slip from my eye, before lifting my head up, looking down.
"Avery?" Liam asked. I closed my eyes, shaking my head.
"If I tell you something, would you promise not to get mad at me?" I asked quietly, refusing to look at him.
"You like him, don't ya?" He questioned, and my gaze automatically shot to him. "How did you know?"
"I'm not stupid, Avery." Liam chuckled. "I see the way you look at him. And I definitely saw the way you looked at him when we were on Ellen. And it seems like he feels the same exact way."
"What makes you say that?" I asked.
"I'm practically the father of One Direction. I keep my eye on the boys, keeping them out of trouble and seeing what they're up to. And the way Louis looks at you. His eyes light up every time you walk into the room." Liam spoke.
"Harry, too.. I heard him talking to Niall about it." Liam sighed, looking down at his lap. I raised an eyebrow, confused. Harry looks at me the same way? Could that be why he tenses up every time Louis wraps his arm around me? Why he gets upset seeing Louis and I fake dating?
"It all makes sense now." I said through a small, sad laugh. I frowned, feeling sorry for Harry. I couldn't believe that he could have possible feelings for me. It sucks.. because I have feelings for Louis.
But did Louis have the same mutual feelings for me like I did him?
