40.
A/N Sad to say that this story is going to be ending sometime soon. Then I might go through and edit it a bit.
"Avery, are you okay?" Liam asked as we both sat alone in the kitchen at the table as I picked at my eggs on my plate with a fork. I would push them to the side of the plate, making it look like I actually ate something.
"Yeah.." I murmured quietly, not looking up from my scrambled eggs and toast. Truth was, I wasn't okay. I felt like major and utter shit, probably because I just cheated on Harry last night. He was still upstairs asleep, and I'm surprised he didn't come into my room last night and see his best mate's arms wrapped around his girlfriend. That would've caused a scene.
"Is it Harry?" Liam urged, and I let out a long and tired sigh, before reluctantly nodding but still refusing to meet his gaze. "Did he do something wrong?"
"No, and that's the thing. I kind of wish he did. Because maybe then I'd be the heartbroken one. Not him." I rambled on, dropping my fork down on the plate, causing a 'ping' sound. I let my head fall into my hands as my elbows propped themselves up on the kitchen table. "I fucking deserve it anyways."
"Uh, excuse me?" I could hear the confusion clear as day in Liam's voice. Then it did occur to me that Liam didn't know anything about what happened last night. In fact, no one did. Except Louis and I, of course.
"Louis and I-" I started to say, but heard footsteps coming down the staircase, instantly shutting my mouth and picking my fork back up, digging into my food as a distraction.
A tired looking Harry Styles walked into the room, running a hand through his mop of curls. "Mmm. Morning."
"Morning, sleepyhead." Liam chuckled, but I could feel his gaze on me the entire time. He stood up from his seat, grabbing his plate off the table to place it into the empty sink.
Harry walked over, placing a kiss on the top of my head. "Good morning, sleeping beauty." Oh god. Please don't say that. You're just going to make everything so much harder than it has to be.
Did I plan on telling Harry about Louis and I? Fuck no. But I was going to at least tell him about my feelings. Or that I couldn't do it anymore, living with all this regret. Jesus Christ, I was going to need a goddamn script so I would know what I was going to say.
"I have something planned for us later. We'll be staying here, but I have to go somewhere to make it special." He explained and I looked up at him with a look of confusion. Was there something that I was supposed to be remembering? An important event or something?
Harry's cheeky smile turned into a frown, noticing my confused expression. "Our anniversary? Our one month?"
My eyes widened, reality hitting me again. How could I forget? Today marked one month of Harry and I being together. God dammit, Avery. You just keep on fucking up, don't ya?
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. How could I forget? God I'm sorry. Everything's been so busy lately with work and all this sh-" He cut me off, planting a soft kiss on my lips. Well, they definitely weren't Louis' lips.
"Hush, love. It's alright, I understand. Work has you stressed out. It's okay." He soothed, and I let out a small sigh of relief. "I'm going to get ready and head out, alright?"
I nodded again, giving him the best smile I could show. He pecked my lips once more, before turning on his heel to head back upstairs. I ran a hand through my hair, turning my head to see Liam still leaning against the counter. "So, explain."
I opened my mouth to speak, but then Niall walked in, his hair a disheveled mess. He looked absolutely exhausted. "Oh god dammit!" Liam groaned, looking up at the ceiling in defeat. Niall's eyes widened, slowly backing out of the room, "Whoa, sorry."
I giggled a bit as Niall backed out of the room so it was just Liam and I again. "Sorry, Ni," Liam laughed lightly, "Anyways," he coughed awkwardly,
chuckling. "Explain."
"I, uh, mayormaynothavekissedlouislastnight." I said all in one breath, looking down at my lap. Liam's eyes widened, "Uh, what? I heard nothing of that."
"I kissed Louis." I squeezed my eyes shut tightly, preventing myself from tearing up. Liam said nothing, and I couldn't blame him.
"...when?" He asked after a few moments of silence. "Last night." I replied, lifting my head up to see Liam's expression. His eyes were widened and his mouth was gaped a bit.
"But, Harry?" He said in almost a whisper, walking forward and sitting back down in his seat in front of me. I could tell he was in complete shock.
"I like Harry and all, don't get me wrong. But I'm certain I still love Louis..." I admitted, playing with my hands in my lap. I could've sworn I saw Liam smile a bit before saying, "I knew it."
"You what?" My eyebrows rose in confusion, looking at my brother.
"You two really had a connection. An indescribable one, really. You two truly loved each other, and even still do. It's like what Danielle and I have." Liam explained, and I felt myself smile. "But you have to tell Harry. Something, at least. Don't lead him on." Well, there goes my smile again, replaced by a frown. God, I hated that my brother was always right.
"...you're right." I spoke up, letting out a sigh.
