Happy birthday to our winter bear, Taehyung 💜

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jungkook bit his bottom lip anxiously, debating on what he should do. He couldn't stop thinking about Taehyung the night before and even had sex with Jimin as a distraction, but now, he still couldn't stop thinking about him.
"What's today's date?" Jimin asked as he walked around Jungkook's living room wearing his matching couples sweater.
Jungkook was wearing his as well, but he felt guilty for wearing it when he was thinking of another man.
"It's December 30th," replied Jungkook. Taehyung's birthday.
"Tomorrow is New Year's Eve. Does Seokjin or anyone have anything planned?" Jimin asked.
"I actually talked to Seokjin this morning. I told him that we could host a small party here at my house," said Jungkook. "He's going to let the rest of our friends know."
"Oh, I can't wait!" Jimin said excitedly as he sat beside Jungkook who was sitting on a couch. "We're going to have fun!"
Jungkook smiled at his boyfriend. "Yeah? Do you know what else is fun?"
"What?" Jimin asked.
Jungkook leaned forward and captured his boyfriend's lips in a kiss, catching him by surprise, but nonetheless, Jimin kissed him back, smiling into the kiss.
"You're so cute, Jungkook," said Jimin after they broke away.
"You're cute too," Jungkook said as he pecked Jimin's lips before standing up from the couch.
"Are you going somewhere?" Jimin asked, furrowing his eyebrows in confusion as he watched Jungkook walk over to the coat rack.
"Yes, I have to run an errand, but don't worry baby, I'll be back soon," said Jungkook as he put on his winter coat and walked out. He hoped that Jimin wouldn't ask too many questions on where he went once he returned.
Jungkook shivered as the cold wind blew past him, making his hood fall back. He quickly put it back on and walked quickly to the bakery store.
He bought a cake before setting out and heading to Taehyung's apartment. Upon arriving, he knocked on his door and a few seconds later the door opened to reveal Taehyung.
"Jungkook?"
Jungkook gave him a small smile. "Happy birthday."
Taehyung looked taken back, surprised that Jungkook even remembered his birthday. He stepped aside, gesturing for Jungkook to come to which the younger did.
Taehyung closed the door behind him as Jungkook walked to his ex's kitchen and set down the cake on the table.
"I got you a birthday cake," said Jungkook.
Taehyung nodded and smiled as he looked at the cake. "Thank you."
"Did you have anything planned for today?" Jungkook asked.
Taehyung shook his head no. "I wasn't expecting to see you here either. I didn't think you'd remember my birthday."
"How can I not remember when you introduced me to your parents on your birthday? Besides, I used to spend your birthday with you because I knew you didn't have anyone to celebrate it with and well, I knew you didn't have anyone to celebrate it with it today," said Jungkook.
"You're so kind, Jungkook," said Taehyung as he reached out traced Jungkook's cheek with his hand, but then quickly dropped it upon remembering that Jungkook wasn't his boyfriend anymore.
Jungkook awkwardly turned his head away from Taehyung and instead decided to open the cake. "Let's eat a slice together before I go back," said Jungkook.
"Go back to where?"
"To my boyfriend."
Taehyung nodded. "Does he know that you're here, with your ex?"
Jungkook hesitated to respond, before lying and nodding his head. Taehyung didn't say anything either and instead got a knife out to cut two slices of cake.
Taehyung and Jungkook sat together in the kitchen, eating a slice of cake together while Taehyung occasionally stole glances at him. Jungkook stole a few glances of Taehyung as well before they eventually caught each other.
"Do you want to take off your jacket?" Taehyung awkwardly asked after being caught staring at Jungkook. "It's a little warm in here."
Jungkook shook his head no. "I feel fine," he lied.
Jungkook wanted to desperately take off his jacket. He was already feeling a little too warm and was beginning to sweat, but he refused to take it off. He was wearing his matching couples sweater underneath and he didn't want Taehyung to see him wearing it.
After they finished eating their slice of cake in more awkward silence and stealing glances at each other, Jungkook stood up, ready to go.
"I should go back now, my boyfriend is waiting."
Taehyung nodded. "Thank you for the cake and for sharing a slice with me."
"I didn't want you to be alone on your birthday," said Jungkook.
"What about your birthday?" Taehyung asked.
"My birthday was a few months ago."
"It was?" Taehyung felt terrible for forgetting Jungkook's birthday when Jungkook went out of his way and bought him a cake despite them not being together anymore.
"Yeah, but it's fine. Our relationship was beginning to fall apart at that time anyway," said Jungkook in a sad tone.
"I'm sorry, Jungkook," Taehyung apologized.
"For what?"
"For forgetting your birthday and for ruining our relationship. I hope you're happier with your boyfriend, now."
Jungkook gave Taehyung a small smile. "I really should go back now."
"Wait, just one more thing," said Taehyung as he stood up and walked over to Jungkook. He wrapped his arms around the younger and hugged him tightly. Jungkook returned the gesture as he placed his chin on Taehyung's shoulder. They stood in each other's embrace for a few moments, before Taehyung finally let go.
"Okay, you can go now. Your boyfriend is waiting," he said as he stepped back.
"Happy birthday, Taehyung," Jungkook said before walking out of Taehyung's apartment.
Before heading back home, Jungkook stopped by the store and bought roses for Jimin.
When he got home and walked in the door, Jimin asked, "Where did you go, Jungkook? And where did you get those roses?"
Jungkook smiled as he closed the door behind him and set his coat back on the rack before going to his boyfriend. "I went to buy you roses," he said as he handed them to Jimin.
"What's the occasion?" Jimin asked confused as he took the roses from Jungkook's hand and held them close as he smelled them.
"Do I need to have an occasion to buy something for my boyfriend?" Jungkook asked before pressing a kiss to Jimin's lips. "I love you."
Jimin grinned before wrapping one arm around Jungkook as the other held the roses. "I love you too."
After Jungkook left, Taehyung was left alone once again. He sat at his kitchen table eating another slice of birthday cake.
Although he wasn't very happy about celebrating his birthday alone, he was happy that Jungkook remembered and brought him a cake.
Taehyung would have been even happier just like he used to he whenever he celebrated his birthday with his family. However, his parents told him to never come back until his mind was straight, and well, he's not straight.
Sighing, Taehyung stabbed his current slice of cake he was eating with his fork before standing up and heading to his room.
He sat on his bed, debating on what he should do to pass time. The days felt long for him now that he had no one. He lost Jungkook, his now ex-boyfriend and he lost Jimin, his now ex-best friend.
"I should try to make new friends once the new semester starts," Taehyung muttered to himself as he threw himself back on the bed.
Taehyung's mind drifted back to the time and he and Jungkook were friends. It all started because he was blasting his music so loud.
Suddenly in the mood for music, Taehyung took his phone out of his pocket and played his favorite song, the song that brought him and Jungkook together.
Taehyung closed his eyes as the music started playing. Memories of him and Jungkook came flooding back. He let out a heavy sigh and he recalled each one.
One of them was a sweet memory of him and Jungkook.
"Taehyung, we should be doing our homework," Jungkook muttered as Taehyung pressed kisses against the younger's neck.
Taehyung momentarily stopped as he raised his head to look at his boyfriend. "Yeah we should, but you're enjoying this too."
Jungkook playfully slapped his boyfriend's arm and didn't say anything else as Taehyung went back to leaving kisses on his neck.
When he was done, Taehyung raised his head once more and said, "I love you, Jungkook."
Jungkook grinned. "I love you too, Taehyung."
Another memory included Jungkook trying to cheer Taehyung up.
"Hey, Taehyung. I know you don't have your parents anymore, but your siblings support you. Did you not see the grins on their faces when you told your parents you were dating me. They looked for happy for you."
"My parents moved my siblings to a different school and now I don't know where they are. I tried asking the secretary at their old school, but she said she couldn't share that information with me," Taehyung cried.
Jungkook cupped Taehyung's face and raised his chin to make his boyfriend look at him. "Taehyung, I can help you find your siblings, just don't cry, please. I don't like to see you in pain.
Taehyung nodded as he let Jungkook wipe away his tears. However, they weren't able to find Taehyung's siblings, leaving Taehyung heartbroken.
"Taehyung, your siblings loved you, don't forget that. You also have me as well. I love you," Jungkook encouraged. "You don't need your parents. If they would have really loved you, they would have supported you."
And then, another memory of Jungkook's encouraging words resurfaced as well.
"No matter what happens, no matter where I'm at, you can always come to me," Jungkook said. "Always."
"Even if we break up?" Taehyung asked through tears.
Jungkook nodded. "Even if we break up, even if we haven't spoken to each other in a while and even if I'm dating someone else, you can always come to me, no matter the situation, so never forget that."
Right now, Taehyung desperately needed Jungkook, but he didn't think Jungkook's words applied much anymore.
After the music ended, Taehyung played it again and again, before he eventually fell asleep, his mind thinking about Jungkook's words, "You can always come to me, no matter the situation."
