Jungkook was glad when he didn't see his exes or old friends in any of his classes for the rest of that day. He found himself having a few classes in common with his new group of friends.
By the end of his last class, Jungkook was exhausted, both mentally and physically. He said goodbye to his new friends before he began to walk tiredly to his house.
However, on his way back home, Jungkook paused as he noticed the ice cream parlor that was by his house. Memories came back to cloud his mind as Jungkook recalled his first memory here.
Jimin had given him advice after Jungkook had gotten upset at Seokjin for questioning his relationship with Taehyung. Jungkook felt better afterward and even thanked Jimin before talking to Seokjin and both of them apologizing to each other. Jungkook had even taken Seokjin here as well to make up for their argument.
Another memory came to mind as Jungkook remembered his date with Taehyung. Jungkook had been so in love with him, but not anymore.
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Jungkook walked into the ice cream parlor and ordered a simple vanilla-flavored ice cream despite the cold weather. Instead of going out to enjoy his ice cream on the tables placed outside, Jungkook took a seat in a booth inside the parlor.
There, Jungkook watched all the cars drive by through the window as he slowly ate his ice cream. Jungkook didn't want to go back home just yet. He was afraid to fill his mind with more uncontrollable thoughts. He didn't want to end up overthinking again like he had been for the past two weeks. Jungkook just wanted to have a peaceful day where no one or his thoughts would bother him.
After a while, Jungkook's ice cream has begun to melt due to the warm heating inside the ice cream parlor. Sighing, he knew he'd have to pick up his pace and eat his ice cream before it completely melted.
Jungkook tore his gaze away from the window as he focused on avoiding the melting ice cream from dripping while eating.
In the background, Jungkook heard the little bell ring as he heard a shuffling of footsteps enter the ice cream parlor. He didn't bother looking up as he wasn't interested in who it was unless it was one of his exes or friends. He would have quickly sprinted out of there.
"Jungkook, I always find you here," a soft-spoken honey voice said.
Jungkook froze upon hearing Namjoon's familiar voice. He slowly lifted his gaze to meet Namjoon's warm eyes.
"May I sit with you?"
Jungkook nodded his head. Instead of sprinting out of there as fast as he could like he said, Jungkook found himself staring back at Namjoon who was now sitting across from him.
"You do always find me here," spoke Jungkook in a low voice.
"What's the reason for this time?" Namjoon asked softly.
Jungkook hesitated, unsure of what to begin with because he had many reasons as to why he was here again.
"Is it because of what happened with Taehyung and Jimin?"
"That's part of the reason."
"Then what other reasons brought you here as well?" Namjoon asked in a calm voice."
"I have too many thoughts in my head," Jungkook answered truthfully. "I've been overthinking too much that it's taken a mental toll on me. I just wanted to distract myself for a bit before I went back home where it's quiet and the only thing I can hear are my thoughts."
"What kind of thoughts are they?"
"They're about...my friends," Jungkook answered after a small pause. "Seokjin, Hoseok, Yoongi, and you."
"I've been on your mind?" Namjoon asked, raising an eyebrow in a flirtatious manner.
The small action caused Jungkook to smile before covering his face shyly with his free hand. "Not like that and besides, I named my three other friends too."
"I know, I know, I'm just joking," Namjoon said, matching Jungkook's smile.
"Anyway, I've been having doubts about you guys," said Jungkook after he uncovered his face and his expression turned back to serious.
Namjoon's smile faltered upon hearing what Jungkook said. "Doubts? What kind of doubts?"
"I just been questioning whether you guys are really my friends or not," Jungkook answered truthfully while lowering his gaze, afraid to meet Namjoon's eyes.
"Of course we're your friends, Jungkook. We've been worried about you for these past two weeks. Is that why you've been ignoring us?" Namjoon asked.
Jungkook nodded his head, slightly lifting his gaze to peek up at Namjoon through his lashes. "I'm sorry."
"You shouldn't just apologize to me. You need to apologize to Seokjin, Hoseok, and Yoongi, especially Seokjin though, he's been worried sick."
"I know and now I feel bad for ignoring you guys," Jungkook replied. "I don't know why I was doubting you guys."
"If I may ask, why were you doubting us?" Namjoon curiously asked. "Hoseok mentioned that Jimin told him that you two broke up and that Taehyung had cheated on you with Jimin too."
Jungkook let out a long sigh, not really in the mood to talk about his exes, but nonetheless, he spoke up, "Yeah Jimin and I broke up because of that. I was hurt when I found out that Jimin was the one Taehyung was using to cheat on me while also pretending to be my friend."
"And that's when you started to have doubts about us, your real friends," Namjoon concluded.
Jungkook nodded his head. "I'm really sorry and I know I also have to apologize to the others, but you were always the one there for me from the start even before we became friends so I feel like I owe you a big apology."
"Why do you owe me a big apology?" Namjoon asked, confused. "And all I did was give you some advice back then before we became friends."
"And I should have taken that advice. All those times that you found me here crying, it was about Taehyung, and that time when I told you that I was using his best friend to get over Taehyung, it was Jimin. You asked me about it the day that we met at school and I had lied because I was afraid you'd tell my friends," Jungkook said. "You were always trying to help even before we met and even offered advice on how to move on from Taehyung, but I didn't. I continued to use Jimin to get over Taehyung."
"Did you eventually get over Taehyung when you started to date Jimin?" Namjoon asked.
Jungkook shook his head. "I never got over Taehyung while dating Jimin. I never got the closure that I needed to move on."
"So you were also dating Jimin while having feelings for someone else?"
"I'm just as guilty as they are," Jungkook answered, feeling ashamed of himself.
Namjoon frowned. "I don't think you're just as guilty as they are. You did use Jimin, but weren't Jimin and Taehyung worse than you? Taehyung cheated on you with Jimin and Jimin only pretended to be your friend before dating you."
"About that, I cheated on Taehyung as well if you remember me telling you about it two months ago, and yeah Jimin pretended to be my friend, but I also pretended to have feelings for him because I wanted to get over Taehyung. I thought it would work and that I would fall in Jimin, but it didn't. Instead, I got a hell of a heartbreak again," Jungkook said before letting out a humorless laugh. "So yeah Namjoon, I am just as guilty as they are."
As a friend, Namjoon was supposed to disagree with Jungkook and tell him that it wasn't his fault, but he also knew Jungkook was right. Jungkook was just as guilty as Jimin and Taehyung.
"Your silence tells me that you agree too," Jungkook added when Namjoon didn't speak up.
"Listen Jungkook," Namjoon finally spoke. "What happened with Jimin and Taehyung happened. We can't change it, so the best thing to do is move on from it. Will you take my advice this time and let me help you? Will you finally stop ignoring your friends and talk to us? Will you let us help you get rid of those doubts and uncontrollable thoughts you're having?"
"Wow, so many questions. It feels like a wedding ceremony with the 'will you' parts," said Jungkook.
"It'll be a funeral ceremony for me if you don't say yes," said Namjoon. "Seokjin was really upset with me when I made us leave that day when we went over to your house. He also warned me that he wanted you back by tomorrow."
Jungkook chuckled at his best friend's typical behavior. "Of course."
Namjoon beamed before speaking up again. "By the way, your ice cream is melting."
Jungkook looked down to see his ice cream cone in his hand. The ice cream had melted even more than it was before Namjoon arrived. "No wonder I was starting to feel something trickling down my fingers."
